Just returned from a week at this site with our two kids, 8 & 4 years old. The play area and the petting farm were a huge hit, and our kids loved the 11am feeding / petting opportunity. The beach is probably a bit too far to walk down a steep hill (and up on the way back!) with young kids, so we drove into Perranporth when we visited the beach, which is about 1 mile away and costs about £3 to park. The site has excellent shower, washing up and toilet facilities - all clean and plentiful free hot water during our stay. Our pitch was on quite a slope, and backed onto the playground. Most pitches were on a more level pitch than ours though. Beware that the playground is quite noisy with youths until darkness falls, so don't expect to get little ones asleep much before dark. This is a deceptively big site, with pitches split across a few different fields. You never feel like you're on a massive site though. The owners couldn't be more helpful and friendly. A really pleasant experience.

Just spent a week at this lovely site. Showers and toilet block were very clean and plenty were available. Never had to wait for a shower once in the whole week. Shop was basic but well stocked and not over priced compared to some. The beach was quite a trek down the hill but only took 2 mins by car. Our pitch was very large and easily fitted our large family tent and an estate car. Would definatly use this site again.

This is one of the few family sites that we have visited where you actually leave feeling part of their family too - they can't do enough for you: "bus times - yep catch such and such", "supermarkets? Morrisons in Newquay.", and at their snack bar; ".just order your food in the morning - it will be ready for you at 5pm" (and it was!) and the list goes on.(and the food was gorgeous too).
Run by a real friendly bunch who take the time to chat and actually are interested in what you have to say - even if it is keeping them from what they are doing.
Also ultra child and family friendly - the animal corner is great, a decent kids play area and field for the older kids to play ball games in.
Site is a good walk from Perranporth and a bus ride from most places like Newquay and the beach is about 10 mins 'hike' through the nearby Haven site (which felt a very hostile and unfriendly place in comparison to Tollgate).
At night its a good quiet site and the facilities are spotlessly clean and just about cater for the number of folks that were on site when we stayed.
We plan to tour Devon and Cornwall soon - and Tollgate is on the list of stopovers.

Hi there, stayed at Tollgate Farm Camping and Caravan over the Easter bank Holiday and had a brilliant time. Very friendly site of which the owners are more than happy to attend your every need or problem ( battery went flat and they provided jump leads ).
Pitches are a good size and the shop has all the basic items you would need for camping at a good price!. The site is quite high up from perranporth of which would take about 20 Min's to walk in to town but my girlfriend and I decided to get a taxi each time because we think the walk back up is too much for even a young fit couple like us! ( VERY STEEP ). Costing £2.50 we thought the taxi price was reasonable!. Bus services let us down at Easter but should run o.k in season. Bus stop outside camp.
Toilets are clean and tidy, showers nice, Hot and free but could turn the shower lights on a bit earlier as got very dull when the sun started to go down. No bar but went into town every night anyway. Lovely walk to the beach!.
Overall a good reasonably priced campsite, which we will definitely return to next Easter. Thanks Tollgate.

Just a short note from Tollgate Farm to say that one of the family shower rooms does how have a toilet and sink. We also have reduced the amount of pitches making the remaining ones bigger. Like all other sites in Cornwall at peak season things can seem cramped, but we do allow as much room as possible. The kids always have their own 2.5 acre playfield where we do not allow any camping. During our 5 years at Tollgate we have taken a very rundown site and turned it into one where our customers come back year after year. Your comments are always greatfully received, and we try and act on them where possible, (we are still learning). Many thanks.

We went to this site in August of this year for 16 nights and had a lovely holiday there. The beach at Perranporth is about 1 mile away which could be reached by walking through the golf course nearby. The shower block was spotlessly clean but the toilets were quite dark in the day-time - you couldn't put the electric lights on. A lot of the pitches were a bit sloping and they tended to put people in tents on those, although I also had to use ramps with my motorhome. The people who owned the site were very friendly and helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely go back there again.

Very friendly family run site - shower block spotless and cleaned daily; there are 3 family shower rooms for smaller children. The park is a good size with swings, slide, climbing frame and a small wendy-house for the little uns. Its a drag to walk to the beach 20-30 mins away, especially when carrying beach gear, so tended to drive into Perranporth and park up which is a nightmare in peak season to find a space so go early about 10ish. Its a lovely site and I would definitely go there again.

I stayed here for 7 nights with the wife and 2 kids. Lovely campsite with a good feel to it. Owners very friendly and helpful. Non EHU pitches are 10 metres wide which can be a struggle if you have a large tent, but the EHU pitches seemed to have a lot more room. Has a shop for your essentials, a play area and pets corner for the kids and the shower blocks were kept immaculate at all times. Would definetly visit again.

A friendly site, owners helpful. Pitches a little on the small side, very basic shop. Family shower room no toilet or basin. Main shower block -clean, never had to queue. Although you can walk to the beach it would be difficult in less than 30 mins. Children enjoyed the playground and football field
