Overall a very nice campsite, the only hiccup we had was being offered a different pair of pitches (Our friends were in a tent), to the ones we had been told we could have over the phone a few days earlier. When we tried to explain that the two pitches were unsuitable, as they had been occupied by two large tents with sewn in groundsheets for nearly three weeks, which had left just mud with a small grass area between. We were told 'It's the end of the season', well it is not the end of the season until the site shuts, and it was the beginning of a hard earned and looked forward to holiday for both our families. We appreciate that sites do deteriorate over a long hard summer, (I used to be the maintenance man at one of the largest campsites in Devon), and that staff/owners get tired, but a warm welcome and friendly help must be a priority for further return trade.
That aside, we were then allowed to pick our pitches and found two that were away from the main camp road, (Our friends have a toddler and a 'fast crawler'), and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the site. I would have no problem recommending this site to anyone with small children or dogs, as both are very welcome, please don't leave dog fowling, pick it up!,
There is a large area of heathland just a couple of minutes away for dog walking, so your four legged friend can go home refreshed as well.
I will say that after our initial minor gripe, that the owners were very very helpful and friendly, and I think it was a lack of understanding of what we were saying that may well have been the problem.
Thanks for a lovely break and we may well be back.

One word describes this site 'brilliant'. The owners of this site are so helpful and friendly. The pitch sizes are very generous and flat, you don't feel crammed in. We have two children aged 5 and 7 and the playpark is excellent and very safe. The on site takeaway is handy and very reasonably priced, seemed very popular when we were there. Herb garden is fantastic we used it lots and its free. Showers, toilets are washing up area are kept spotless even in the peak season, one one night we had heavy rain and the owners were mopping the toilets out at midnight so its wasn't muddy. The site shop is well stocked with essentials eg bread, milk etc.
The site has a pet corner with various animals guinea pigs, goats, turkeys and a llama. Feeding time is every morning at 11am and the owners encourage the children to help feed and pet the animals this is fantastic for kids.
The location is brilliant it has one of the best beaches we have ever visited about 10/15 minutes walk with breathtaking views as you approach the beach, this walk can be accessed through the neibouring Haven site. Perranporth itself is a gorgeous town with a 2 supermarkets, banks, takeaways, pubs, restaurants, pharmacy and gift shops If you decide to walk into Perranport it is best to get the bus back to the campsite as it stops outside and is a lot cheaper than a taxi.
We have booked for next year as we loved this site and would highly recommend it.

As every positive reviewer has said, this is a fantastic, well maintained campsite with friendly, helpful staff and clean washrooms. Visited with the missus and our 8 man monster tent.
Nice walk to Perranporth through the golf course and down to Watering Hole to watch the sunset. There was a three legged cat on site, not sure if he/she is a resident but very friendly if encountered. I had never seen a live turkey until I visited, weird looking bird, no wonder we eat them.
Our visit was overshadowed by high winds and heavy rain but the tent survived thanks to the high hedges.
I would highly recommend this site to anyone visiting the area and hope to come back next year!

This is by far the best site we have been to
5 minutes away from one of Britain's best beaches and the town of perranporth which has pubs and restaurants.
The site is great if you have children , play area with large playing field with football goal
Size of pitch is fine ( we have a 8 man tent) and had plenty of room
Cafe on site is great with very reasonable prices and not your cheap supermarket meat proper butchers (Gloucester old spot) meat
Showers warm and clean
It's is very protected from the wind , we had 50 -60 mph winds one night and did not see a damaged tent
I will be booking again

We,being me the other half and four kids have just returned from this campsite. What a great campsite just like the other reviews had said. We were pitched in the rose field, very family orientated. The pitches were level and plenty of space between each pitch. The play park was a great meeting point for all the kids, there was also a large playing field for ball games etc. There is also a small animal section, where you can feed the animals daily at 11a.M Our 6 yr old loved this. The toilet/shower blocks were spotless, loved the 2 separate family rooms. There is also a small laundry room, there was a small charge for use of washing machines and tumble dryers.Plenty of washing up sinks undercover to. There is a small shop on site, this sells the basics, milk bread eggs etc. There is also a take away shop to,this was very popular doing breakfast from 9-10.30, love there sausages then in the evening 6-8pm.The prices were really good to.
All in all this is a fab site run by really friendly helpful people,we will definitely be returning. Perranporth can be reached by foot over the golf course, across the road from the site with in 20-30mins. Or by car within 5 mins. Park at the green parrot for £5 all day and spend over a fiver in the pub they will refund the parking charge. The walk into Perranporth is worth it for a leisurely stroll seeing some fantastic coast line and hand gliders.

We visited this site 2 years in a row, lovely helpful owners. The pitch sizes are very generous and flat, you don't feel crammed in but buy the red pegs they have on sale, if it gets windy they ensure you don't blow away!
We have two children aged 6 and 8 and the playpark is excellent and very safe. The on site takeaway is handy and very reasonably priced, seemed very popular when we were there. The location is brilliant it has one of the best beaches we have ever visited about 10/15 minutes walk with breathtaking views as you approach the beach, we spent lovely evenings watching the sun go down from the Watering hole pub on the beach, just lovely, steep walk back but the kids managed it fine.

A lovely welcoming, family friendly camp site, nice laid out pitches, and with great views over Perranporth .Good cleans facilities, with a playground for the children, also a good selection of animals for the children to go and see and touch. Good breakfast, serving locally produced food including their own bacon and sausages. We will use this camp site again.

We booked a week (2 adults, 1 x 5 year old and 1 x 18 month old) at Tollgate farm purely on the reviews read here on UKCS which all seemed to have nothing but praise for the site.
I can see why!
We arrived and were shown to our pitch which was huge and close to the toilet block and within view of the play area, admittedly it was at the bottom of a slope, but nothing unmanageable and we can’t complain as we booked late, but there were a number of large flat pitches should you get in early enough.
The site is ideal for families! clean shower/toilet block with 3 family shower rooms and one with a baby bath; it also has a disabled shower/toilet room, great safe play area and an animal area at the top of the play area where you can feed them at 11am everyday.
There is also a take away on site (open 9am-10.30am and 6pm-8pm) serving delicious breakfasts and evening meals/snacks at very reasonable prices.
The site is about 1 mile (by road) to the great beach which has life guards who do an excellent job and there’s ample car parking in and around Perranporth, but the Green Parrot pub is £5 for the day, refundable if you have a round of drinks or meal there in the day. There's a small supermarket, a handfull of tourist shops, take aways and pubs, but if you want more, the more commercial Newquay has everything you need which you can get to by car or bus.
There’s plenty to do also if the weather isn’t great (it was OK for us) Lands End is roughly 40 minutes drive, Newquay 15 minutes, Healey’s Cyder farm 10 minutes – free entry and free sampling, there are a few animals there and a tractor ride around the orchard for about £4 per head (under 6 free) Dairyland 20 minutes great for kids and much much more to do.
What’s it like at night? Quiet! Most people are quiet by 10pm and the site is pretty much silent by 10.30pm until 7 or 8am due to the fact that nearly all fellow campers have children who know they have a full day the next day.
The nice touches on the camp site - Bricks for bar-b-ques, flowers outside the toilet block, herb garden where you can help yourself, toilet roll you can actually use, music played in the toilet block, speed bumps to slow you down near the play area and the friendly, helpful staff.
We will be going back for two weeks next year.

This was our first camping trip to Perranporth and found this was in our opinion a central base for all places we wanted to visit including of course the Beach!
When I arrived at the pitch I found that all the pitches where very generous that you have enough room for a large Tent, Windbreak and the car and still a little to spare.
We stayed in 'Willow' field and had a central washing up facility, showers within the toilet area a couple of family shower rooms and a disabled/family shower room all of which were clean with adequate showers and we never had to wait for any of these facilities. On site there is a shop which is well stocked and I felt reasonably priced along with take away bar opposite and again they have not over priced here.
Spoke to other families who said they have been before and have already booked for next year! At the end of the week we didn't want to leave and we are now thinking of booking to come again next year.

We were full of trepidation as we pulled in late to the site gates. The shop was locked but we rang the bell and received a very warm welcome from the house next door :-)
We are not hardened campers by any means and this site was absolutely ideal for us. Our family consisted of 2 adults, 2 children (6 & 10) plus our Golden Retriever and 2 of her 16 week old puppies !
There is a children's' play area, an animal petting 'zoo', loads of space for football AND a seriously massive dog-walking area (yes an official dog-walking area) just across the small side road. Acres of land with loads of little trails to follow and lots of rabbit activity :-)
The kids loved the site and the dog area and the dogs thought they had died and gone to doggy heaven.
Its either a long walk or a short drive to the cliff path (via the Hoseasons Perran Sands resort) down to the quieter side of Perranporth Beach - the beach is incredible.
Back on the site the toilets, showers and washing up block was immaculate and probably the nicest touch of all . Radio was piped into the toilet/shower block.
The second nicest touch was an excellent WiFi connection which cost extra but it was well worth it to have the luxury of checking emails and . The weather in your tent ! It was a really strong signal too. You can get 15 minutes free per week but we bought a few hours :-)
We had a great level pitch very close to the facilities - ideal.
The weather was atrocious so we had to cut our holiday short (3 wet dogs and 2 miserable wet children doth not a holiday make). But we will definitely be back to Tollgate Farm and we recommend you go there too.
