Stayed for ten days with a 3-year old & a 4-year old and had a fantastic holiday helped by some beautiful Cornish weather. The staff at Tollgate Farm were always trying to please. Stayed on Rose field.

Toilets were immaculate due to them nipping in and cleaning up other people's mess throughout the day in addition to deep cleaning once a day. Kids loved the goats, guinea pigs and chipmunks. The on site cafe served massive freshly cooked pizzas when we weren't in the mood for cooking.

While it is a 20 min walk down to the beach, it was more like 40 minutes on the back up the hill with two in tow! The parking down in Perranporth is only 3-4 quid a day back from the beach so worth driving unless you really want the exercise.

Perranporth was always 'windswept' when we went as it is quite long - great for kite flying, body boarding etc. Holywell Bay and the beaches in Newquay, Fistral etc. Were more sheltered.

Great location for beaches and proximity to all the Cornish attractions although with roadworks on A30 worth setting out early (before 10am goat feeding) if heading further South for the day!

Stayed for ten nights, would have happily stayed longer.

The site is fantastic for families with young kids, the play park and field is ideal and the added bonus of the animal area. Feeding is at 8:30 which encouraged our kids to get up and out in the mornings!

Shop is good and they have a cafe which also does a takeaway service.

If this site was on the beachfront it may well be our perfect site. To get the kids and everything required down to the beach requires taking the car down to Perranporth and pay for parking - it all adds up when the pitch prices aren't the cheapest.

This was our 2nd year to Tollgate Farm after we visited last year. It once again in our opinion was faultless with really nice atmosphere there.

Facilities were still 1st class, hence they are now another rating higher on their AA status.

Pitches were all highly maintained.

Thanks for a great time again Tollgate farm

I am asked on this review to mark out of 10 the location, facilities, value for money, customer service, child friendliness and an overall mark - I can honestly say I have no hesitation in giving all areas 10/10 and overall 10/10, you would not be disappointed which is why we found quite a few return families from last year.

We are totally new to camping, after lots of online research we bought all our gear that we thought we would need. We had set our hearts or Cornwall and the perranporth area

We had quite a choice campsites to choose from after reading reviews here we booked Toll Gate Farm, I was surprised when I contacted them as they could only accommodate us the very first week for the school holidays as they were fully booked up for all other dates. After my holiday I can see why this special place was so busy.

All the staff on site were very friendly and helpfully answered any queries we had. I cannot compare this site to any other but I was surprised and very happy at the facilities they have with plenty of free hot running water, they were kept very clean even at the end of a warm busy sunny day. Each of camping areas seemed to have their own facilities which was a good way of avoiding long queuing, I didn’t have to queue once for these or the washing up area.

We did use the laundry area ones which was modern quick and did a great job, £3 for a 34 minute wash was quite reasonable In here was also an electrical socket that can be used for hair straighteners for example for a small fee.

We have a Vango Icarus 500 tent with canopy which we thought was a big tent and the pitch size was great with plenty of room for tent & car, many other tents much much bigger than ours arrived during the week and also plenty of tourers with awnings and still there were plenty of room and in no way did it feel over full or cramped.

Wifi is available if required at a reasonable cost which can be purchased by the hour if need be. O2 Mobile signal was available but patchy for my I phone & internet connection over 3G

The shop was very handy selling most essentials that we required. We didn’t use the cafe bar but it seemed very popular with very reasonable prices and smelt fab as we passed.

The animals, large playing fields with goal post, tennis net & small park area was a great addition for the kids to play away from the tents with bats & balls.

Being my first camping holiday I wasn’t sure what to expect with regards to creepy crawlies & insects, luckily we didn’t have any problems at all here no midget bites either. However if you have a fear of rabbits then maybe this is not the site for you, there were tons of them, chilling out and sunbathing through the day and even more seemed to come out to play after dark we found this to be quite amusing watching them

The location is great for visiting the beach & town being less than a mile downs a steep hill, easily accessible from the main A road through Cornwall.

The welcome booklet is a nice touch upon arrival, and the recommended walks over the sand dues to the beach are really worth trying out, amazing views over the beach & coast line.

Over all we had a fab holiday and cannot wait to return to Cornwall and especially Toll Gate Farm

We stayed at Tollgate Farm for a long weekend in July. We were so impressed and it was a shame that we had to leave so soon. It was our first camping trip as a family though, so we thought that a long weekend would be about right.

The pitch was huge. I don't know if it was because we wanted one with an EHU, but it would have been plenty big enough for a caravan plus awning plus car, so we were spoilt in our tent. It gave our daughter plenty of running space though.

The facilities were excellent, the toilet blocks were always clean and had family / disabled rooms at either end with a bath that our 2 1/2 year old could still easily fit into.

We didn't need to use the shop, but we did make use of the cafe which is open at weekends (morning and evening). I had the best sausage sarnie ever on the saturday morning and we returned for a very yummy pizza on the saturday night.

We spent some time with the animals and also in the playpark, which was a good size and quiet until the evenings.

I hope we haven't been spoilt too much on our first trip as any future campsites will now have to live up to the standards set at Tollgate Farm!

Our second visit to tollgate and had another great time. We stopped in perran we had two pitches as grandparents came with there tent.

The shop has been made larger with plenty of toys for kids to spend their money on at good prices, things you may have forgotten for setting up camp.

Staff very friendly always there to help (my dad wanted to go fishing so they told him where to get bait etc. Can't wait to return next year.

I stayed at Tollgate Farm for 3 nights over the long weekend with sister and our partners. We were in the smaller Meadow field, with two tents next to each other. The man who greeted us was very friendly and helpful.

There are good facilities - clean and spacious toilets and showers, hairdryer, a laundry room and washing up area. There are family and disabled shower spaces. There is a shop and cafe on site. The food served at the cafe was good and reasonably priced, open for breakfast and dinner. The shop stocked essentials - some food, games etc.

We ate in the local 'Waves' restaurant which was fine for hungry travellers on a Friday night. On the Saturday lunchtime we took a short drive to the Bolingey Inn which served a lovely lunch menu in a relaxed atmosphere.

Two of our party surfed on Sunday morning, hiring wetsuits and surf boards from one of the many shops located in town for a reasonable price.

Tollgate Farm is a 15-20 minute walk from town/the beach. It is a quiet campsite overall although there was a road behind the hedge in our field which was noisy at times.

Although we did not have children with us, the playground looked great and there were always lots of children around playing on the grass. There is an animal area with goats, rabbits, birds and guinea pigs.

I was able to charge my mobile phone in the on- site shop in return for a donation to a charity (collection boxes on the counter).

There are good recycling facilities, wetsuit washing areas, drinking water taps and chemical waste areas. Bricks at the entrance of each field can be used for disposable barbecues.

We had a great weekend at Tollgate Farm and spent quite a bit of time on-site due to the unpredictable weather! I think that it is a great site with very good facilities and we would go back!

A great find, site was perfect for us. We arrived and a very friendly man checked us in. Nothing was too much trouble, I asked whether it was ok for some of my family to come tomorrow with a tent, no problem.

Facilities fresh and clean. Knowledge of local area very good, gave clear directions to the lost church of St Pirens. The winning points for this site was a good play area for the grandchildren and the animal farm. This site also does recycling.

6 adults and three children, plus two large german shepherds. Dog walkers heaven, just over the road is an entrance to the Sand Dunes you can walk for miles and then to the beach which is dog friendly.

Only had 2 nights at the site and didn't really spend a great deal of time there but from what we did experience I'd be happy to recommend. The kids loved the playground and Animal park. The rooster did have an issue working out what time dawn was though, but hey that's camping.

Owners were helpful and friendly as it was a quite weekend we had a choice of pitch. The facilities were very good I especially appreciated the large shower cubicles as well as the family / disabled facilities. Made changing the kids (2 and 3 year olds) a simple process.

Great views of the sand dunes from the Willow field, however in retrospect I'd stay away from the south end of the field (pitches 48 49) as this was closer to the road (and rooster) than I had appreciated. It was sheltered though by the natural hedgerow.

Would definitely return and hopefully stay for longer when we are back in Cornwall.

Just returned from a week at Tollgate Fram and it was our first time camping for a week. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. All fields were nice we chose rose and stayed on p[lot 34. We had a lovely view of the sand dunes and on a good day the sea.

All shower blocks and toilets were clean. Washing up area was also clean and tidy. Didn't have any children with us but the playground is well equipped to keep little ones entertained and kill off some time. Animal corner was also nice to wander round.

Apart from the on site shop and Havens supermarket you would have to drive to get the shopping.

All the routes to the beach and town were lovely although quite hilly as you would expect in Perranporth and in fact Cornwall. Owners are friendly and welcoming and left you alone however they were always there to help if we had a question.

All in all a great weeks break and would definitely return however may look at going an alternative time of year as was a little cold at night time but hey that's life!
