Stayed here loads. Perfect for Perranporth Beach (good place for sand loving families and top surfing) and the Watering Hole pub.
Run by some great lads, good office/shop with local ales, spotless clean showers, quiet, lovely views and overall pure heaven for Cornwall fans.
It is getting a bit pricey in peak season for my liking but we can afford the hit so will keep going back for now as it is that good but if it keeps going up we might have to look elsewhere.
Nearly forgot there is a kids animal farm and good play area too. Give it a go, you won't regret it.

Just enjoyed two weeks at this site, our first visit, the site is split either side of a lane, we were in Perran field which we picked as we don't have young children and this side has no play park and less suited to young children.
Access was a little tricky with a caravan, you have to go into a car park area in the opposite field and turn round so that you can then go straight across the lane into Perran and the same coming out. I can imagine this putting some folk off returning as you need to do a bit of manoeuvring and if there are cars parked in this area this is made more difficult.
This wouldn't put us off returning though as we are used to manoeuvring our caravan in tricky situations.
We were there outside of the school holidays so it wasn't too busy, I can imagine the facilities might struggle when the place is full. Our shower/toilet block had two good size showers and several tight toilet cubicles and three sinks. There was also a pay to use hairdryer and straightening irons which I didn't use.
The block was always clean and stocked with soap and toilet roll. The showers are free and spacious but they are the push on and off style and the one shower was better than the other for length of time it stayed on, the worst only staying on for 8-10 seconds which I found irritating, also all the showers are a set heat, you cannot alter them, and it tends to be on the hot side, after a day sunbathing on the beach they were a bit uncomfortable being so hot, I would not like to have a young child in there with me, too hot for them.
The flow did alter somewhat if someone was using a tap elsewhere but I liked the fact that you can take the shower head off the unit. There was a spray bottle of something in the showers too, wasn't sure what I was supposed to do with that, and a rubber mop thing to dry the floor up which was useful. Also a baby changing table in the one.
There is a washing up room with two sinks. The site is only slightly sloping and the pitches are generous and you can park your unit anyway you like which is nice.
The position of the site was a good point for us, right next to acres and acres of sand dunes with paths leading all over, bit of a dog walking attraction, bit too much dog poo left mind you.
You can walk into Perran Sands Holiday site and use their bar, shops and cafes which was very useful, walk all around the static caravans, even walk down to the beach, though that is a long way down a steep path which is pushchair friendly but not for the infirm.
You can walk into Perranporth, a mile away down a path near to the road, though it is a good hill again. The addition of the animals to the site is a nice touch for kiddies, there are goats, chickens, rabbits and birds.
There is a small shop on site and an information point, a coffee machine and vending machine, useful for campers and a bus stop right outside on the main road. There is WiFi available at a cost. Virtually no reception on our mobile phones.
The warden and other staff are all very friendly and welcoming and I would return and I recommend this site.

Once again we had a great break at Tollgate Farm. We're repeat customers and fussy ones at that, so it must be good!
It's a quiet site, no big groups or late parties which is great for us. The pitches are large and well maintained. I've been to campsites where tents are butted up against each other - awful! If I wanted a town, I wouldn't leave London! Here, you get a feeling of space to breathe which I love.
This year we used their pods - everything you could possibly need is provided even down to a brolly (which unfortunately came in handy!). There are just five of them tucked into a field of their own. Cute and very comfortable.
The toilet blocks are immaculate. We've been here too many times to count and I've never seen them without loo roll or dirty. There's laundry facilities and two separate family showers which are large and well equipped. The wetsuit and dog wash also come in handy for desalting your beach stuff and pooches.
As for the location, well you're in walking distance of the glorious Perranporth beach via the road or the more scenic route over Perran Sands, maps available at reception. Crantock is just a short drive or Newquay itself is easily accessible.
All in all, fabulous! My only complaint is our breaks there are never long enough!

We have been to this site many times but not for some years so looking forward to going back- we were not disappointed. Clean toilets and showers. Laundry room as well which has washers, driers, iron and hand washing facilities.
For the kids there is a whole field to play in with goal posts, other activities and plenty of room away from campers. There is the chance to help feed the resident animals each morning - the owners take time to talk to you and involve the kids. There is a small shop for basics and a very popular cafe serving quite a variety of food. The owners are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble.
The location is also good, just a few minutes drive into Perranporth and easy access to other attractions.

This site is run by two brothers and their father, and it shows, it has such a 'cool' vibe.
It is very laid back, and wonderful for children and then quietens right down in the evening.
The clientele are very friendly and considerate.
The owners are very laid back.
The pitches are very flat, and thoughtfully laid out - although this campsite is on a hill, they have 'terraced' the pitches so they are all flat and easy to pitch in, also makes them more sheltered.
The facilities: lots of them, two separate shower blocks etc. In the one nearest to us there was three family/disabled shower rooms, all lovely and clean, and then the mens and womens toilets and showers - again very clean.
In the showers each one has its own squeegee mop, with a bottle of disinfectant to use.
The park - very thoughtfully done with children in mind - lots of equipment for both older and younger children and lots of space to play games, with football goals, tennis nets etc.
The location - 5 minutes away from Perranporth beach - brilliant - we would go out for the day and then go to the beach for a few hours later as it was so close.
Also only 20 minutes from Newquay - with its supermarkets etc.
The food kitchen - serves both breakfast and evening meal. Lovely food and reasonable prices - just what was needed on the rainy days we had.
The best bit for the kids was the petting zoo where they do daily feedings where the children can feed the goats, chickens, and the best bit for the children the guinea pigs which they get to go into the enclosure and hold them. The owner who does it and the girl are lovely and friendly with the children and very knowledgeable.
The wetsuit wash area - not a tub with water as usual but a very powerful outdoor shower head - much better and a very good idea.
The vibe and the sense of humour and thoughtfulness makes this campsite such a great place to stay. It is unique and camper orientated. Will be going again next year.

Second visit and once again a great stay. Toilets and showers are kept very clean despite in constant use. The on site cafe is excellent and great value.
Excellent location with a 15 minute walk in to perranporth.
On site shop is small but sells everything you need plus a few extras.
The pitch sizes are excellent and more than accommodated our large tent and a car.
Road noise is barely audible despite other reviews.
Excellent camp site recommended to all.

We've just come back from a long weekend & yes we would definitely come back again. We are so glad we didn't stay in the HAVEN touring site we could see on the way to the beach, they are packed in so tight. Here at Tollgate the pitch spaces are all large & the space inbetween the other campers opposite is lovely.
The little cafe on site we used on our last morning. They were just closing when we got there but offered to make us some lovely sausage & egg sandwiches.
The site itself is lovely but a little tricky to get in & out of with the caravan on the back. Once we knew to turn around in the field opposite then it was fine. The showers could do with opening windows in them to allow the bugs & steam to escape but this didn't bother me (only my daughter). We stayed on pitch 75 Perran field & we would opt for that pitch everytime if we could. Lovely views & no road noise. Also this was closest to the toilets.
The playpark & little farm were a lovely little touch. Its about a 25 minute walk to the beach or you can get a bus from the Haven Touring site which we did one day back, to save climbing up all the hills. YES, YES, YES we will be back.

This was our second visit to PerranPorth. We loved the beach here so much last year that we came back! First time on this site and have to say it met all expectations and we’d happily recommend this mid sized family run and very delightful site to others. Facilities are all you’d expect, amenable, clean and well maintained, as was the rest of the site. The Farm Kitchen offered what sounded like a very nice breakfast and evening menu but at the time of our stay was not open. This may be just a peak season offering. WiFi is available across the site but we did struggle to get a good enough signal so gave up. A nice walk into PerranPorth/beach, is off road, single file in places, and running alongside the golf club next door. Note that this is a downhill walk to the beach so the return trek is uphill! Distance of about 1. 4km can be covered comfortably in around 25mins. There is a regular bus (87 to Newquay) that comes up past the site every hour up to midnight so is a welcome alternative after a few them ciders in town! Some lovely places to drink and eat in the evening in PerranPorth, including a Wetherspoons if that’s what you’re into? Otherwise we found the fayre and service at the Seiners Hotel also very acceptable, or the reputed Watering Hole, serving a good selection of ale and food (if a bit pricey!), but is sat right on the beach! Going in the other direction, we had a lovely meal at The New Inn, Goonhaven, so much so that we went back a second night and can well recommend the specials or the steak night on Thursdays. Healey’s cider farm and shop is just up the road and also well worth a visit, either for those holiday pressies, flagon of scrumpy or just for the cream tea in the café with the peacocks cawing and striding across the cobbled courtyard! We’re looking forward to returning to this lovely stretch of North Cornwall some time in the future.

Motorhome, 2 border collies, 1 german spitz and 2 humans arrived at Tollgate Perranporth after visiting Salisbury. The difference between 'club' sites and this was amazing. Here a very friendly warm greeting and a totally relaxed attitude. We were allocated our pitch on Perran field and that was that. The grass pitches were well spaced out, the loos as clean as anywhere but the whole atmosphere lacked the regimentation of the club sites and yet we had a pitch markers and spacing as one would expect from a well organised site.
We have never been anywhere in the whole of Britain where we have truly felt so relaxed and not under some pressure due to rules and regulations (although I am sure they were there).
The heathland outside was perfect for walking 3 very happy dogs and Perranporth was a short drive away. In fact there were too many places to visit within easy reach for the 4 days we were there.
We will be back.

This is our second visit to Tollgate Farm and did not disappoint.
Toilet and showers always kept clean and well stocked. Lovely and peaceful site. Great location for Perranporth only 5 minutes in car. Newquay 15 minutes drive.
Water points in each field. Hook-ups directly next to tent. Undercover pot washing areas.
On site café reasonably priced and quick service.
Huge dog walking area round the corner from site where dogs can run off lead.
Would definitely visit again in the future.
