Planned to stay for three nights in the PODS this week but as it was so good we booked an extra night :)
Everything is clean, well designed and staff are friendly and caring.
I felt safe to let the kids run around as they liked, they made many new friends and shed many tears when one left.
The playground and animal farm is a wonderful edition too.
The many tall and 'left to be' wild hedges provide excellent protection in what would be a windy place otherwise. They also serve for the many birds that will wake you in the mornings.
The site offers all amenities required for any sort of camping/caravanning.
The on site shop has what one needs and if they do not - there is a Texaco down the road that has it.
Marshmallow roasting (PODS have fireplaces) is defo a new favourite of ours :)
Thank you very much Tollgate Farm Team!

Picked this out due to other reviews and was not disappointed, this is the best kept campsite we've ever been on and is perfectly located to explore Cornwall. The owners can't do enough for you and seem to genuinely love their setup. Our kids (9/6) adored the animal handling and safe playground. There is an open field beside the play area with football net and a tennis net for slightly older ones.
Shower/toilet blocks are spotlessly clean and you are encouraged to also clean after yourself with squeegees, jaycloths and sanitiser sprays. Never any shortage of hot water. It is nicely sized (<90 pitches) if you prefer the simpler option vs the mock-resort vibe of Haven's etc. We were on one of the few non-EHU pitches in Rose. The only drawback can be a bit of road noise and of course with the location you are always going to get a bit of coastal wind (or a gale if you are unlucky). Pitches are all marked out and we have a large tent but we managed to get it on fine with car in front. Ground is reasonably flat or levelled in terraces. Keep your eyes peeled for wild rabbits, stoats and other animals. We didn't use the takeaway point but the menu looked really tempting.
The beach is a little trek over the dunes but well worth it - this is one of the best beaches in Cornwall and even at half term was virtually deserted away from the Perranporth end. We settled at the mid point (of 2 miles) then walked along to the village at low tide. Perranporth is a great sized village - not overrun like Newquay or Padstow but good facilities including a small Co-Op. It is a good base for learning to surf, consistent moderate to fair waves, plenty of shops supporting sales & rental and full lifeguard watch. The sunset bar on the cove is perfect for late afternoon drink after the beach.
We arrived to rainstorms just after we got the tent up so went to the Bolingey Inn for our tea - highly recommended. It is quite small so call ahead for a table and note the parking is a bit limited. It can be walked from the site (about 1. 5 miles each way) if the weather is fine and you are fit.
Overall we were delighted with our choice and the kids didn't want to leave. Suspect we may well be going back again sometime in the future.

Visited on one night stop off whilst touring in our motorhome.
Site easy to find on the main road into Perranporth, check in easy and were told to choose a pitch anywhere in Willow field. Quite a few on site taking advantage of the late Summer sunshine and we plumped for a hard standing overlooking the dunes.
Pitching areas spread out over a few fields here but nicely set out and not in boring rows. We had distant views to the sea. Site is quite open in areas to the elements so be careful in wind.
Seemed a very family orientated site, even though there were no children there during our stay I would imagine it would be very popular in school holidays. There is a small play area and a pet area with pigs & chickens etc. The takeaway was closed. You could walk into Perranporth either via the dunes (hard slog) or down the hill (but remember the hill on the way back!). Pasties at the garage at the bottom of the hill are scrummy.
Toilets & showers were lovely. Toilet cubicles spacious, radio was playing (love that in the mornings) and they smelt ever so fresh and clean.
Dog friendly site - acres of dunes across the campsite road to walk them in. Lots of dogs on site during our stay and all well behaved.
The only minor fault we could find was being in the motorhome we didn't like driving over the grass to get to our hardstanding (particularly after rain)- as we were bit anxious of getting stuck!
To sum up - lovely site, short distance from one of the best beaches in Cornwall. Popular with families so would advise to book early!

Spent 3 nights here last week, really lovely campsite, located 10 mins walk from Perranporth - quickest route is across the golf course - or there are countless footpaths into Perranporth -
We could only get a grass pitch, had a bit of difficulty getting up the wet slope to our pitch, and ended up camping sideways - lucky pitch was a good size, views of the sand dunes amazing - fabulous area for dogs - so many footpaths and 3 miles of dog-friendly beach in Perranporth.
Wash / shower facilities all new and really first class. There is a food van permanently parked at the reception area, with seating - their food is fabulous ! we had a couple of pizzas one night, all cooked from scratch in their pizza oven - magnificent - they are also open for breakfast at busy times.
The bus stop is right by the entrance, and you can get a bus into Perranporth - or Newquay, good regular service - all in all a lovely little site.

A lovely campsite, perfect for families of younger children. Most people on site were families so there was a buzz of noise around most of the time.
The pitches were OK, we have a big tent and extenstion which was tight on the pitch.
The whole site has a lot of space, the play area for the childre was really good. And it was topped off by the small farm, our little one (whose 2 1/2) loved feeding the animals.
The toilet block was big and clean, it was cleaned well every day. There are several family tolets/showers which is always helpful.
The beach is great and was a 15min walk from the site, which was great apart from the steep walk back up at the end of the day.
We realy enjoyed our stay despite the british summer not being so kind.

This was our first 'full' holiday in a tent and we chose Tollgate based on a recommendation. And hours of research! We managed to avoid the worst of the weather I think and still managed 3 or 4 beach days. We liked the site a lot and it is in a good location. We had two younger children with us as well as a teenager. The younger ones enjoyed themselves and were happy to use the playground. I think our teenager was a bit bored. Thats not really the fault of the site, more ours really as we suspected he might be before we went.
The pitch was a a little bit cramped, however we do have a big tent. It was also on a bit of a slope, but perhaps with more experience we would have pitched the tent better (or differently).
The owners were always friendly and the take away on site was good and not overpriced, but you do need to order early to avoid a long wait!
The showers and toilets were very clean and we rarely had to wait.
All in all, we would definitely consider going back.

This is an absolutely lovely site. The site is split into 4 separate fields, there is a small country road separating the site but is not very busy.
The staff are all very friendly and the facilities such as the animal area and herb garden are great added touches.
Excellent kids facilities in the park and animal area. Also a large playing field which I have not had on a site before. Feeding and holding the rabbits and guinea pigs from 10am in the animal area. I saw a lot of confidence grow over the week with the kids by getting involved.
Toilets in Perran field are more basic than the other block and only have 2 sinks and showers (lots of loos). There are more showers and family shower rooms in the other block though which is only a very short walk.
Wash up areas in both sides of the site. The one in Perran also has a leaflet stand for activities in the area and a book swap shelf which I though was quite nice.
Water points are only located one per field but not too much effort to fill water bottles. Also a shower outside for washing wetsuits.
Recycling bins are available which I like.
Good location for perranporth beach and shops. Less than 5 minutes by car. We did try the walk through Haven one evening to the beach but found it quite busy to walk through and a very steep hill the other end to get to the beach. Good dog walking area before entering haven though. Car parks in Perranporth can get busy but there is one if you turn up the hill opposite the cop op which we always managed to find a space on, also has toilets.
I would definitely recommend this site to couples, families and dog owners looking for a quiet location with goods transport times to the surrounding areas.
We all enjoyed our stay at Tollgate Farm. 2 adults, 2 kids and 1 dog.

10 days in the Perran field in a tent.
A nice but quite exposed site, during our stay the weather was very changeable and we had some very high winds. Although we were ok there were a number of tents and awnings that were very badly damaged.
The facilities in Perran could do with updating a bit but there are others you can used accros the road in the other fields.
The staff were friendly and helpful with advice on what's on etc.
Overall a nice site in a lovely part of the country.

We have just returned from a weeks stay at tollgate farm, a lovely site in a great location just above perranporth. We were sited in willow field, very spacious pitches with very good drainage.
Plenty of toilets and 4 showers in the block but 3 separate family showers which were ideal as provided more room when sorting the kids.
A huge playing field and play area for the kids and an animal feeding area which went down a really well with my 2 children, the owners are really nice especially with the kids and I felt our custom was really valued.
Only suggestion for improvement I can think of is to provide a small selection of fresh produce in the shop, fruit veg? It is an absolute nightmare nipping to the co op in perranporth in the middle of August for forgotten potatoes!
Would not hesitate to recommend tollgate farm, we in fact booked for next year whilst still down there this year!

Booked for a 5 night stay over the Jubilee weekend. We had a non electric pitch which was very spacious.
Facilities were immaculate, and all campers were encouraged to keep them that way, which everyone did as j cloths were provided at each sink both in the toilet blocks and washing up area.
Good playground for children, daily feeding of the animals.
15-20 min walk to Perranporth beach with a 6 year old was enjoyable, after a day on the beach we were able to get the bus back up the hill, which also accepts dogs.
There is an on site cafe, the menu looked good but we did'nt try it. Small on site shop, would be nice if it stocked more fresh produce for the BBQ
Even though the weather was not the best, we had a fantastic time at Tollgate Farm and can't wait to return.
