Just got back from a long weekend at this site. Had a wonderful week end - great weather helped. The site is a working farm with lots of animals for the kids to watch but the field where you pitch your tent has had no animals on it - something you need to check with kids on farm sites I have stayed at one where cows came into the same field regularly and kids don't watch where they are walking or what they are walking in!
The loos and showers are exceptionally clean and well cared for and generally the whole site is very clean and tidy.
The family who run the site are very friendly and helpful - the nicest site owners I have met!
The price is particularly good - only £20 for two nights in a large tent with elec hook up and the pitch size is huge.
North York moors railway is less than 10mins away and Whitby beach is also close by. The surrounding area is beautiful, we walked onto the moors in the evening just across the road from the site to watch the sun set and it was spectacular.
One warning this site is so popular booking is essential - we tried to book to go back but they were full on the dates we wanted.

This is by far the best site we have visited this year, the shower cubicles are large with lots of hooks, the toilet cubicles are the size of a small bathroom with sink, towels, soft roll, extractor fan, aerosol air freshener, really clean and modern. The grass pitches are very well spaced with water close by. We were sited near a tree line with the moors in the distance beyond the cow field. Caravan + 2 adults + dog + awning = £20 for 2 nights. Lots of moors walking from site, hole of Horcum half a mile away. Pickering 7 miles away, Whitby 15 miles. This is a working dairy farm with farm machinery + other animals, goats, hens, etc so dogs to be kept on a leash and kids to be carefully watched. Booking is essential. We shall return

We stayed at Marfit Head Farm in August and can recommend this site. The facilities were excellent and to a very high standard of cleanliness. The owners take an obvious pride in their campsite and are very friendly and helpful. The site is well situated for visits to the coast or inland to the North Yorkshire Moors and at £6 per night is great value for money.

Fantastic site. Loads of room - even though the site was fully booked we were not packed in like sardines - there was yards of space between us and the next tent. Excellent facilities with loads of hot water for washing up and showers. And all for the princely sum of £3 per person per night. If you want an excellent meal try the Horseshoe Inn in Levisham approx 5miles away. Its not the cheapest but is of the highest quality. The access to the Dalby Forest red cycle route is off road through the farm fields and on to a bridleway - virtually flat to get there and no need to get stung for the £7 entry fee for cars.

Just returned from a beautiful visit at Marfit Head Farm. We stayed for 2 nights and the fees are very reasonable, cost £10 per night for 2 adults and 5 children ( one under 5). Absolute bargain! The site is on a working farm so you have to be careful to watch your children for tractors and would suggest you accompany them to the toilets as there are farm buildings surrounding them, but for us the fact it was on a working farm added to it's charm! The farmer and his wife are both very friendly and helpful. There is plenty of room to pitch your tent and there are plenty of trees to act as a windbreak, the North Yorkshire Moors can be windy. The toilet and shower block is kept spotlessly clean, there is a washing up sink also spotlessly clean. A nice touch was they provide a print out of a 5 day weather forecast for the area, information on Market days and a selection of leaflets for attractions in the surrounding area. The toilet block is mixed sex. But don't let this put you off. There are 2 showers and 2 toilet cubicles, all have locks and contain a wash basin, always with plenty of soap and loo roll. There is plenty of very hot water. The play park is small bu there are plenty of bark chippings down, so it is a safe area for kids to play. Saved the best till last, the pygmy goats are very friendly and so adorable and love bread! there are chickens which lay free range eggs that can be purchased from the farmhouse. We will be definitely be returning again soon!

A beautiful, pastoral place, with wonderful scenery of landscape. The toilet block is very modern, clean and well located. A good central location for visiting many well known places in North Yorkshire. A very reasonable price for such a gem of a place. One not to miss.

Site was well cared for and kept nice and clean as were toilets no complaints whatsoever. Owners were very friendly always made time to chat or wave when passing they were also absolute stars we were battered by wind and rain when we arrived with our tents but they braved the weather to come and help, really appreciated the help many thanks. Very reasonable rates and well worth the money hopefully will be going back when weather is better.

Very pleasant, friendly & genuine people to deal with. The shower & toilet block are clean and modern with very hot running water. The field was well cared for without stones or nettles. I would doubt if I could find another camp site in Britain that is as much value for money as this site is.

In short, fantastic campsite, great facilties and friendly faces. We found Marfit head farm on here when looking for campsites to use whilst doing the tabular hills walk this weekend. So I dropped them an email and they responded promptly with all of the info we requested which was great. We arrived on friday evening a bit earlier than we had expected. Where we were welcomed and shown around the site. The field was ideal for tents, nice and flat with short grass and no nasty nettles or anything like that. The toilets and showers are some of the best and cleanest we have seen and were a welcome sight after a hard days walking. The site its self is also pretty close to the pub but we decided to just enjoy the weather and sit around the tent. Everyone we spoke to was really friendly and spoke highly of the site and the area. We shall defiantly be visiting again, even if its just to see the goats ;o)

Really nice site on a working farm this, mostly flat pitches, a few hard standings for vans. Two toilets, two showers in the washing up room with baby bath and changing facilities, all spotless and modern. Loads to do in the area, walking etc. Owner is a nice bloke and we would recommend this site and we will definitely be returning at £5 a night for tents. There is a dog walk too but didn't use it this time.
