Stayed here for 3 nights, the wife and I, and loved it. Clearly marked and generous sized pitches including EHU is worth £10 per night of anyone’s money.
There are toilet/shower blocks including facilities for dishwashing etc which are cleaned regularly and well maintained. A freezer is provided for you to freeze your own ice packs etc…
The owners were friendly and have even taken the time to compile some books providing information on local events, places to eat, places to visit and go walking. We used a disposable BBQ and were provided with thermal blocks so not to scorch the grass.
This is a working farm so you may hear the odd cow, dog or cockerel and you will experience the aroma associated with a huge heard of dairy cows, we thought this added to the charm of Marfit Head.
Overall, a great site located in a beautiful part of the world, excellent facilities and brilliant value, will definitely use this site again.

This site was recommended to me by friends and boy did they do me a favour!
I spent 7 nights here, on arrival I was told to choose my pitch and left to get on with it. The site itself is small but the pitches are very generous in size and not cramped.
Because of the site location and the size of the pitches night times here are very quiet and peaceful so a good nights sleep is assured for all.
The toilet block is probably the best I've seen anywhere the showers were hot and free and they are kept clean at all times.
On the whole a very good site which I hope to visit many times in the future

This is a lovely peaceful site with very well maintained facilities. The toilets and showers were always spotlessly clean with air fresheners in each cubicle.
The electric pylons mentioned in other reviews were not a problem as we were pitched underneath them and it was as if they were not there. The pitches are very large, we had a 5 berth tent with front extension and a small 2man tent and plenty of room to pitch them side by side with plenty of room to park the car.
The owners are very friendly and helpful and we will definitely return
We paid £12. 00 per night for 2 adults and 2 children plus electric. Bargain.

The first thing to strike you about this site is that there is no large signage and it is directly off the busy Pickering to Whitby main road. However once over the cattle grid and into farm it is a different world and the tent field is set some distance back so that the road (with the exception of speeding motorcyclists) is not noticeable.
The camping field has pitches up either side and the centre kept free. Pitches are spacious and the side of the field we were on backed on to open field; our nearest neighbours were the cows in this field who could be heard chomping the grass early in the morning!
The facilities block is in two adjacent areas of the milking barn. Whilst this may sound like they are going to be basic this is certainly not the truth. They have been extremely well finished and furnished with three washing up sinks and a range of cubicles containing toilets, toilet and sink, showers and rooms with vanity units. Soap and hand towels are provided.
The showers in the side nearest the camping field are of the push button variety whereas the ones in the side nearest the farm were on and off with one in particular giving a good power shower. There is also an area with tourist information and leaflets and a freezer for ice blocks and ice creams payable to an honesty box, although the ice cream was relocated to the farmhouse as the door kept getting left ajar.
There were various animals to look at including pigs, donkeys and chickens whose eggs could be bought. For younger children there is a new play area on the caravan club side of the site.
The owner was often around site and proved to be extremely helpful when a family arrived only to discover they had left their poles back at home over 3 hours away. Within a short while he had produced a massive family tent, a selection of pegs, helping to put it up and avert a disastrous start to a holiday for that family. Bearing in mind that he not only has a camp site, but a busy dairy farm to run and this was service beyond the norm.
It is a drive to the shops, pubs etc but being on the North York Moors this shouldn’t come as a surprise. The New Inn at Thornton le Dale was recommended by Trevor and provided an excellent selection of meals for the family.
There are a range of attractions within reasonable drives such as Dalby Forest (good scenery, walks and mountain biking for the more adventurous), Pickering / Pickering Castle, Eden Camp, Robin Hood’s Bay, Whitby and a touch further away York. We visited all of these over our 8 night stay and could easily have spent longer than the time we had at each.
The steam trains of the North Yorks Moor Railway also operate between Pickering and Whitby. Beware if travelling on Summer days – we paid a considerable sum to travel from Goathland to Whitby, arriving on the platform with plenty of time only to be pushed and shoved out of the way and find insufficient seating when we eventually got on. The Conductor was excellent when I complained, but they need to be better organised to prevent such stampedes occurring.
In conclusion this is a good, well run, small, friendly site with excellent facilities at an affordable price. A site I would wholeheartedly recommend.

This was our first time camping with our two year old so I was a little nervous but all I can say is it was great even though it rained both nights.
The facilities were very clean & baby changing unit was useful, plenty of toilet paper too! Both owners were very nice & friendly & didn't mind my little girl visiting the animals several times a day. New play equipment was a nice touch also.
A slightly larger sign may be an idea as both us & our friends completely missed the turning. However its a great base for Pickering. Scarborough, Whitby, Robinhoods Bay etc.
Will be booking again.

Just spent 3 nights at this beautiful site and had a to say we were VERY impressed.
If you are looking for peace and quiet then this is the place for you. The toilets and shower block are excellent. The ground is well drained, (so much so that we recommend you take hard ground pegs).
There is a little road noise, but this is un-intrusive and you are more likely to hear the cows than passing cars.
We can not comment on the facilities for children, (not having any with us), but we did see a climbing frame and plenty of animals, (cows, chickens, donkeys and pot bellied pigs)and plenty of space for them to run around in, (the children that is!)
All this for only £10.00 pn with EHU.
The only problem we encountered was the ground. Hard ground pegs are a must! We only had normal pegs and bent quite a few! but that's the price you pay for having well a well drained field, and with the rain we had we needed one !
A site we will be going back too.

Is a brilliant site. The people that own it are so lovely and helpful, the 1st time stopped our electric conked out and they checked it all for us and lent us a hook up.
The location is brilliant and the hole of horcum is a 5 min walk on foot. Pickering is about 5 mins in the car and is a lovely town full of pub, people, & shops.
Dalby Forest is also nearby ( £7 per car) and is lovely for walking or bike riding, it has marked out walks and bike rides for all levels.
The shower block is a shared one but is lovely n clean and the shower are lovely modern and hot!

We used the CL part of the site. Huge pitches. Only ten pounds a night including hook up
We arrived on site but no-one was home at the farm house, a working Dairy farm so weren't too bothered. Set up pitch as we knew which number we were on.
Will need levering blocks in the CL field and tough pegs! Field mowed regularly. Brand new Play area for children (pitch 5 is the nearest).
Toilet 'blocks' are joined to the milking shed but are nicely decorated with an at home feel. Freezer in the campers side of the block for freezer blocks. They have very nice ice-cream there too.
Negative comments; Road noise is loud. The floors in the shower/toilet/washing up area are lethal, even on warm days. I found I had to walk as if on ice, not the owners fault just poor choice of flooring. The toilets had hand towels (as in the fluffy kind) which I felt were unhygienic as they were within the toilet cubicle.
The waste water disposal point(in the CL area) was too high from the ground. I think it would benefit from a ramp of some kind.
Horcum Hole not far but you have to negotiate the fast A road to get to it.
Nice car museum in Thornton le Dale with some for sale outside.
Many people return time and again to this site. The owners are friendly but don't bother you unnecessarily. For the cost this is a fantastic site.

We arrived here on May 27th to begin our 8 night stay. This was our first visit to Marfit Head Farm, but most certainly will not be our last.
We received a warm welcome and were given clear directions to our pitch, which was huge, approx 50ft! We were on pitch 14 adjoining pasture land, and we easily had enough room to position our caravan sideways with awning facing into the camping field, with still enough room availabe to park the car along side.
The toilet/shower facilities are second to none, and are kept spotless throughout the day. As previous reviews have stated, this is a working dairy farm, but in no way does this distract from the site, in fact it gains from it.
We would have no hesitation booking here again, we are already looking at dates for next year.

For first time campers an excellent experience. Was nervous to start with but soon got into it. Staff very helpful and friendly. Toilet and shower facilities excellent.
We stayed 5 nights and enjoyed the whole time. Pickering and whitby excellent. North Yorkshire Moors Railway always a treat.
The most impressive thing was the quietness at night and the respect from other campers.
The pitch sizes were very large and hook up easy. Will return again. 5 stars.
