This is our 2nd stay this year and have booked again for later on this summer. What a little gem we love this site!

It is a working farm with cows, chickens, pot bellied pigs, donkeys etc, wild rabbits and deer hopping about. There is a little play area and the best toilet block/shower facilities I have ever come across.

Owners very friendly. Pitches huge.

Location fantastic for visiting North Yorks Moors & coast.

Maybe I shouldn't post this review and keep this site under my hat in case I can't get a pitch later on !

We spent a very pleasant if' wet n windy' 15 nights here. The showers and toilets were very well looked after. The only minus I could see was that they were not segregated, which was not an issue for us as we are an older couple, But I do understand that some folks would be uncomfortable especially if children are involved. The big surprise was that there was no charge for the showers!

The pitch we had was very spacious and the access was easy even for our 26ft t/a.

Site is easy to find just off main road, There was some road noise but as we were in the back field it was ok.

The owners were very welcoming and organised.

It is a very popular place for families to meet up and we watched them playing games with their children. So nice to see and lots of room while we were there. The children could interact with pigs, goats and donkeys. However it may get a bit too busy during school hols. It is a working farm so be prepared for all eventualities.

No big supermarkets nearby only the good old Co-op in Pickering. Seaside within easy drive and ideal if you like steam trains.

Lots of leaflets in facility blocks. We went for drives off main track and saw some awesome scenery

Very reasonable rates too at £10 night with ehu.

Will be going back. We loved it!

Just got back from a 2 night stay at this campsite and thought it was a great place to stay. This was our second time camping and we found the pitches really big with lots of space between so plenty of room for our 8 berth tent and car. The toilet block is so clean and stocked with hand wash, toilet roll and towels and air refreshener a pleasant change from our first camping experience but I would imagine not the norm. The block has 2 sinks for washing up and even washing liquid supplied. The farm was a great place for our kids who enjoyed the freedom and made friends with other kids on the site. All in all a lovely place to stay which we all enjoyed and hope to return again this year.

Just had our 2nd visit this year, 3rd this coming weekend as we've sited the van there for now. Excellent, what more can I say, the right people running the right site at the right price in the right location. A bit of road noise mainly down to daredevil bikers on a weekend but nothing major to spoil the peace.

It ticks all the boxes, just wish we had discovered this gem years ago

Just on site now. This is my second visit, and it's great. Small site, very friendly owners with good facilities and ehu all for only £10 a night. There is a bit of noise from the road but nothing too obtrusive. My only concern about posting a review for this site is that others will find out about it making it harder for me to get a pitch when I want one. I normally only stick to caravan club sites as the facilities are so good but this is great value for money with good facilities.

Just got back from a great time at Marfit Head Farm.

At £10 a night with EHU it is a real bargain.

This is a working farm so 'yes' you can smell the cows, and the chickens do wander onto your pitch now and again but who cares?

The pitches are enormous! We booked late and a couple of friends tagged on so 1 pitch became 2 became 3. When we got there the farmer asked if we wanted 3 pitches or if we were happy to use the 2 together and another other up the other end of the field? We chose to have 3 tents on 2 pitches. Our choice and certainly not a black mark against the site. After all we did book very late.

The toilet block is next to the cowshed. Don't be put off. I know it sounds bad but the lane to it isn't used by the cows so 'yes' you do see the cows waiting to be milked but 'no' you don't have to walk through any mess.

The toilet block is unisex and has a reasonable number of showers and toilets. We never had to wait for either. The potwash is in there too.

The farmer sells eggs from the free range chickens but do ask him the day before as they do run out. They are also extremely tasty and much better than a supermarket 'free range'.

While you are out in the sticks, Pickering is about 10 minutes down the road and has the usual supermarkets etc. That you might need.

Going the other way you have a pretty straight run to Whitby. It is a really good base for the North Yorkshire Moors and coastline.

There is a small play area for children near the farmhouse and the kids on the site seemed to be having a great time. Also, the farmer doesn't mind them watching milking as long as you ask.

An amazing site for the money. Definitely going back.

Yes I did put in the right year 2010, but after visiting a few other sites over the last year I felt it only right to express how pleased we were with Marfit Head Farm.

Having not been camping since our youth, myself with the scouts and my wife on family holidays we started small with a couple of short weekends away with other family members. We decided to go for a longer break last summer and travelled with my wifes sister and family who pitched up next to us for a short week break Monday to Friday.

We found this camp site on this web-site and after the first night were well impresed. This camp site was excellent, good sized and flat pitches with hook-up and as we were on the back field well away from the main road so the road noise was very minimal.

The biggest plus for us about this site were the toilet facilities. Not only were they warm with plenty of hot water they were spotlessly clean, to the point you felt obliged to leave them as you found them without the need of the polite reminder to clean up after yourself.
Mops etc were available for you to do so, Washing up liquid if you forgot yours, cleaner to wipe down the washing up sinks after use, freezer for your ice blocks and a microwave. There were pleanty of leaflets for all the local tourist attractions.

We didn't have much to do with the owners as they were off site when we arrived but had left detailed instructions of where we were to pitch on the door, the kids enjoyed the play facilities and the animals, especially the puppies and there was plenty of space in the middle of he field to kick a football about.

To be fair we spent most of the day off site visiting some of the many local attractions including Go-ape at Dalby forest, Whitby and a longer trip to Lightwater Valley. It was our wedding anniversary while we were away so we treat ourselves to a meal at the Fox and Rabbit at the junction to Dalby Forest, a little bit on the expensive side but not too much to and the steak was well worth it.

We would recommend this site 100% and would visit again if we go the the area again.

What a super site! Flat large marked pitches.

Made very welcome. Facilities up to or exceeding C & C Club standards! Very good value.

Very good location with lots to visit all round. North Yorkshire Moors Railway,Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay, Heart Beat Country.

Cool evenings due to altitude and some farm smells. After all it is a working farm!

Try it you will like it!

Excellent site as detailed in all other reviews the pitches are huge. The site is extremely well kept with each pitch numbered. It was full when we were there but never had a problem with facilities. I found the toilets and showers to be better than the Haven sites we have stayed on in past. I would definitely book again. Fresh eggs purchased from farm. Owners extremely friendly and would help with anything.

We had a friendly hen who joined us for breakfast every morning. My son (toddler) loved the freedom of running around the giant sized pitch and made lots of friends.

Cannot recommend this site enough.

We stayed over for 1 week, it was our first family holiday, they had excellent facilities that catered for all ages, the owners and workers were very kind, helpful and willing to talk to you about your surroundings, eg, how the running of the farm works etc. The size of pitches were huge, easily fitting the caravan, awning, and a big car or 2 small cars. They had plenty to do around the area too, you have the lovely steam train running from pickering to whitby (a deffinate must), there's goathland, eden camp, whitby, scarbrough, dalby, robin hoods bay, all very nice places to visit with spectacular views, walks and history. Overall, this farm really made a brilliant stay for us, (Myself, partner, and 13month old son). Very cheap too! thanks for the excellent stay
