Just returned from a lovely bank holiday get away. 3 nights, lovely pitch, great views, temperamental weather (Great British summers for you!).
This site is a little gem tucked away with stunning castle views. It's just the right amount of luxury a modern day camper like me needs; modern clean toilets (my husband often bumped into the owner cleaning them at 5.30am ready for the morning rush!), a freezer to top up our freezer packs as we had no electric, laundry machines and a beautifully kept site.
When we arrived we were given a choice of pitches which was great. We opted for a pitch 'on the hill' which although a slight slope has it's flat parts that offered bags of space and a high veiw of the site and sea in the distance. The owners seemed very nice and gave us tips on good places to go and all to happy to stop and say hi when they were out and about.
The toilets had fresh flowers in both ladies and men's which we thought was a nice touch. The showers were push button that didn't say on for long enough but lovely and hot and powerful.
Site rules are pretty standard. Some people tried to take advantage and let their dogs loose which didn't last long as the young lady owner was out asking them to tie it back up! Fair enough, it is clear on the rules and plenty of walks outside the campsite on the private drive and up to the castle and woods for dogs.
All in all one of the best sites we have been to. Will definitely be coming back!

Just got back from a very pleasant few days in mid week.
The site is very picturesque with the back drop of Gwrych Castle and if you are high enough the sea. The site is very hilly in places but we were on a hardstanding which was level and very spacious with dividing low level fence between so everyone knows where their boundaries are.
Either side of us were two seasonal long stay caravans in fact talking to one our our neighbours they have been staying there for 5 years on long term seasonal rent.
Abergele is 10 minute walk and the sea front is about 20 mins. We found Abergele to be very friendly and went in the Harp Inn a very old pub and had a nice meal and the George and Dragon pub very friendly smiley bar staff and a good pint of real ale.
The reception when we checked in wasn't over welcoming and was shown to our pitch with a point and he walked off to be very rarely seen again. The showers and toilets though quite modern were not cleaned too often and no mop and bucket in the showers which would have helped keeping them a bit cleaner, also there is no where to sit in the shower i. E plastic seat so its a balancing act to remove your clothes and put them on without them dragging in the dirt on the floor.
Got on the very frequent No. 12 bus outside the site to Llandudno which has to be one of Wales's and Great Britain's beautiful resorts the other way is Rhyl which by contrast is not that good, OK for a few hours.
I would go again and recommend it but probably mid week.

This is a fantastic site, so good that after 17 years of camping I felt compelled to write a review.
Under wet conditions and during a busy period the facilities are the cleanest I have ever seen!
The site's location is brilliant, within a 10 minute walk there is a great selection of shops and pubs (including Tesco). Like-wise you can head in the opposite direction and be exploring woodland paths or splashing around in the sea.
The coastal bus service (no. 12) runs right passed the site and passes through Rhyl, Colwyn Bay, Rhos on Sea and Llandudno.
Site owners were very helpful and seemed to be working extremely hard to make improvements and small alterations.
If I had to find any faults - I would have to agree with other reviews the push button showers are slightly frustrating and more than one sink for washing pots would be better. Having met the owners I am sure that these improvements and more will be in place for 2013.
Reasonably priced in comparison to sites in the local area.
Our children loved it on the farm and the sites walking proximity to woodlands, the seaside, restaurants and shops is hard to find elsewhere.
Will be going again as soon as possible!

Sorry but can't comment on the toilet block as I used my own facilities,
Never saw a warden on site except the afternoon we arrived & the young lady showed us our pitch.
The site was dirty for over 3 days, the bin area was over flowing with rubbish (bin bags & Shopping bags piled up in a corner of the bin area & this wasn't even a bankholiday weekend). We had a hard standing area which was for the van & it just fitted the van, you then stepped onto the grass/awning area which was a mudpit.
The approach road was potholed which had to be taken with care,
Locally the supermarket is a 10 minute walk (Tesco)
The dog walk is a side road next to the site.
Sorry but this is one site that I won't be revisiting.

Great campsite with a friendly atmosphere.
Good views of the castle and we could see the sea from the tent.
Shower/toilet block was ok and clean.
The pot washing area was a different matter.
Only one sink and one tap, I'd rather be camping than queuing.
The pot wash rinse sink gathered uneaten food and was left for days while I was there( someone not doing their job).
No kids facilities, did not seem to be a problem for the kids that where there, enough open spaces around the tents so they could mix with the other kids, all seemed happy.
Abergele in less than ten minutes walk, friendly staff and friendly locals in the shops and pubs.
The A55 is 5 minutes drive away, which gave great access to north wales.
Overall enjoyed the stay and the area.

Just returned from a 7 night stay. Brilliant campsite - multiple pubs and shops only minutes walk away. Bus stop just outside the main entrance and running approximately every 12 minutes.
Beach is walkable but if driving there is loads of parking. Llandudno, Colwyn Bay and Conwy are only minutes drive away so loads to do and see.
Site facilities keep very clean and always plenty of hot water. The only minor complaint is that the showers are push button and don't run for long enough but by the end of the week you knew when to turn and press the button again before the water stopped.

We stayed for 4 nights on a standard grass pitch and the price was very reasonable.
Located in quite a good spot close to shops and pubs and a very nice fish and chip shop and park.
About a 20 min walk to the beach and lots of nice cycle paths.
Lovely view of the castle and the sea from certain areas of the site.
Golf course right next door(good if you like golf bad if you like to sleep after 5. 30-6am as they seemed to cut the grass at this time every morning)
We didn't get a very warm welcome like most of the other reviewers had, a young man simply pointed to where we could set up and I only saw him once more after that and I didn't even get a reply when I said hello.
Our pitch was very sloping and from what we could see most of the grass pitches were sloped. Not at all like their website shows.
Room with a washer and dryer and a large chest freezer for ice blocks but some people seemed to be putting all their shopping in it so it was quite full.
Only one sink for washing up outside, could definitely do with at least one more.
2 showers with push buttons so the water only lasted about 10 seconds, annoying but manageable.
4 toilets in the ladies(one with a broken lock and one that didn't flush properly)
3 handsinks again with annoying push buttons.
And a hairdryer that takes 20p.
They were kept quite clean but could do with a mop for the showers and more hooks to hang your clothes while in the shower.
The little farm for the kids seems to be a bit run down, and not much room for the kids to play.
Overall we enjoyed our stay in wales and would recommend a trip to the welsh mountain zoo if you have kids, but we wouldn't return to this campsite.

Just a 3 night stay here for our first time in a tent,
site was nice with a few sloping pitches. we were to told our pitch was right next to the house, which I thought was great not far from the shower block and recycling bins(but not to close ), but how wrong was I. getting woken up at 6. 30 by the sound off the groundsmans diesel van, then they let the animals out and all the goats and chickens start squarking and bleating, yes it might sound like I am being petty but it was annoying.
Next the showers were a bit of a joke, clean and modern but on a push button, mine (the mens) felt like it stayed on for about 10 secs before pushing again the mrs said it was like 3 secs in the ladies.
The location was great not far from a big tesco and other shops and a short drive to the beach.
There is a nice lane next to the site to walk your dog up to the creepy castle ruins (we called it Draculas lair).
All in all I would go again but hopefully further back from the house

Just returned from 5 nights stay the first outing for our new outwell vermont xlp we didn't think we would get on as this was a last min holiday and we couldn't get on last yr as it was fully booked, so glad we tried again as this was a cracking little site and we will be returning next summer.
Beautiful setting could see the sea from our tent and the back drop of a castle, and the big plus for us was the little farm animals. Our 18mth old son loved feeding the pigs and goats and loved trying to catch the rabbits running round the site.
If you want a peaceful site with clean facilities and friendly owners this is perfect. Only one wash up station, could do with another, but the toilet block was fine. We used the disabled room for more space with a little one, always very clean. Tiny thing but toilet brushes would be useful.
They do have a set of rules up as you enter, just the basics which arent really enforced and unfortunately totally not the sites fault, but we were pitched between 2 caravans, one kept their dog off the lead the whole week. Whilst our little one was playing on the stretch of grass opposite our tent, when we were packing up he ended up with dog muck all over his sandals and trousers, I was so furious we told the owners as we were leaving and they were so upset that this had happened, it has no reflection on them. I think they just need to get tough with certain customers letting their dogs poop and not picking it up.
All in all we had a fab time. Pitches were huge and 5min walk to tesco and local pubs and short drive to llandudno etc. We also had a lovely day at the welsh mountain zoo, very good day out and very good prices !

We booked this campsite for a weekend in June. There were four tents and our touring caravan. When I booked over the telephone the gentleman was extremely pleasant and didn't even require a deposit. I was really surprised as there were 20 of us. I asked if we could possibly all be together. This was no problem except our caravan was a little further up the field. He just asked for me to get in touch if there was a change in the amount of tents and people going.
The amenities were clean and quite modern. You are walking distance to a huge Tesco also the little town of Abergele. The site is ideally situated for visiting all North Wales as you are not far off A55.
It is reasonably priced and would definitely think of staying again if visiting Wales.
