September 2002 Two old codger's away on long week-end for peaceful holiday, first time away from the family on our birthdays. (We liked it so much done it in 2003 as well, roll on September I say)
Arrived at midnight and camp in driveway.
First thing booked in, staff very pleasent and helpful, the shower block was immaculate and heated, just what we needed. Our grass pitch had it's own resident blackbird, sweet little chap. We had little motorhome and drive away awning. Close to loo (handy in middle of night) and reception
The weather was very kind to us, mini heat wave, no a sign of rain as forcasted.
We took our bikes and used them every day, even to Tesco 5 miles away. Good area for cycling, beach not to far away. Cycled to Shorefields (Static site for same company) had look around very nice, but didn't have time to go back, maybe next time.
All very pleasant, and a good price £33 for four nights.

22August2003 This was the first time we had stayed at Lyton lawns campsite and i was really hoping that the campsite was going to be of a reasonable standard as it was my wifes first camping weekend. We stayed over the bank holiday with another couple and really enjoyed ourselves. The weather was hot, the campsite pitch was big enough for our tent and the toilets and shower blocks were very good. Although one thing that was noticable was that the shower block and toilet cubicals could have done to be mopped down more often as they were often quite wet and also grass clippings in the block was a bit of a problem. £25.00 per night is a tad steep plus £3.50 per extra car per night certainly adds up.Also if you want to take your four legged friends with you it costs extra per dog per night which is a bit of a liberty as they don't take up any room.It all adds up.!!Good walks to Milford on Sea and The smugglers Inn Public house is good for a swift pint. Thoroughly recommend the local Indian takeway in Everton, really good,we had it the first night when we arrived as it was too late to start cooking. All in all i would thoroughly recommend Lyton Lawns as a campsite and we will definately be going back again soon!!

August 2003 Very expensive if you're just a couple in a small 2-4 man tent. 25 quid/night. Plenty of extra charges available, e.g. gazebo, extra car, dog, etc.
Most pitches seemed to be occupied by very large family tents, caravans, etc. that needed the services. If you have a small marquee you will fit right in.
Perhaps it changes character out of peak season?
I feel that the reception staff could have been a little more friendly and helpful in responding to queries, but I guess 34C doesn't inspire that kind of temperament. It was a bit too "Efficient doctor's receptionist" type of attitude as opposed to a "We're really keen for you to come back next time" one. But, then, at 25 quid, they have ample customers. Some we spoke to, long time returners.
Facilities were beyond criticism. No queuing for (excellent) showers and this was 100% occupancy with large families on each pitch. Tons of scalding hot water even at peak time.
Location was fine. Can take unofficial short-cut into field to join public footpath to beach and/or Milford on Sea.
If you are thinking of taking your family camping/caravanning, or if your idea of a tent is something that you tow behind your car that expands into a small marquee, then this is the place for you.
If you're a group of 4 couples looking for a fun time, stay away in peak season, or you'll feel like a Michelin reviewer in McDonalds. Go to somewhere like Holland Wood in Brockenhurst.

Aug 2003 Stayed here for 5 nights in blistering hot weather during the busiest fortnight of the summer so the site was expectedly full each night. All pitches (hard standing for tourers and grass pitches for tents)have elec hookups which was great. Two washroom etc. blocks on the site. Despite the site being full I never waited for more than a couple of mins for a shower (but then I tend to be rather an early bird)or for washing up etc. Shower etc. block in main field was fine but the one in the touring field was superb - obviously brand spanking new and worth walking an extra couple of yards for. Staff were very nice and the small on-site shop fine for essentials. Safeway in Lymington just 5 mins drive away. Kids play area disappointingly small for the number of kids on site. Yes, the tent pitches were sloping and we had to dream up ingenious ways of keeping things like fridge, cooker, BBQ, table etc. level which was not ideal. 2 1/2 miles up the road is the main site, Shorefield - statics only - and staying at Lytton Lawn gives you access to the facilites there (pools, bars, clubroom etc.). Outdoor pool was packed out so went to the indoor one 3 times and it was super. Great changing facilities. Bar food no better than we expect from a big site - mass catering and overpriced. We paid £25 a night, high season, to camp here but don't think it was worth it as we didn't use the Shorefield facilities much and would rather stay elsewhere another time and pay less. Overall site was OK but nothing special.

April 2003 Site OK, but pitches far too narrow and on the slope. Ended up with stream through awning one night!
