Stayed here for a couple of nights with friends, we had four tents and asked if we could be placed together and they made it happen.

The staff are friendly and very helpful there was regular ground staff cleaning the toilets and clearing the bins,

The whole site was very clean and a pleasure to stay and will be returning in the future and I'd recommend this site

Just a great site.

Stay away from pitches 30 and 31 no ! TV reception, and birds **** on us literally, huge trees, 3 nights a rip off for the price, not good for a post lock down trip,

Staff were very nice and polite.

We stayed here over the bonfire night weekend. It is pleasant site with great parks for the kids and decent clean facilities.

We pitched on grass in November which was a little worrying, but the site staff were helpful, putting planks out just in case. The fireworks were excellent there were also a few rides and stalls. We visited Nottingham one day and also close to some pleasant walks.

There are some badly maintained seasonal units on one side of the site and we did have an issue one day with some lads setting fires in the woods close to our pitch. All seemed to be dealt with though.

The on site bar is a bit strange. It is in a loft conversion above the reception and the music was very loud the night we went - had one drink and then swiftly left.

All in all, a good site for a few nights, particularly with kids and over bonfire weekend.

We booked this weekend for the location but would definitely revisit for the site.

Beautiful site and fabulous facilities, never seen such a great play area with the horses!

Staff accommodated our late arrival without issue.

The chip shop in Ripley is well worth a visit

As a family run site, Golden Valley could teach some of the bigger tourist chains a thing or two. Every member of staff operate as a team and go to the nth degree to ensure guests are happy. The amenities are spotlessly clean owing to staff cleaning them on a cycle around the clock - even at night. The site also offers those little luxurious extras - a family bathroom being one! Who would expect to be able to have a warming bath on a chilly night? I didn’t, but knowing I could if I wanted was nice!

The site is mostly geared to meet the needs of families and groups with children. Entertainment is offered for children, with a recently built social club which offers an evening disco. There are other amenities for kids too - an adventure play park, mini golf, Segway, dog walking and a nature trail. On a bank holiday, such as Easter, the staff offered children Easter events such as an egg hunt and a “log” ride around the park attached to the back of a golf cart. The bar area itself is quite small as is the cafe, yet still staff don’t seem to keep guests waiting long! Food and drink are very reasonably priced and good quality. Food offered is generally bar snack types - cooked breakfasts, burgers, chips, pizza etc. Which you are free to consume in the eating areas or take back to your tent/van.

The site does have some rules to ensure the friendly atmosphere and comfort of all guests, which campers are happy to adhere to. For example, no bbqs are allowed directly on the grass, and have to be raised (of which bricks are offered and left for guests use) and no camp fires are allowed at all. At first this was a little disappointing, as I do like a camp fire, however, the grounds are kept so beautifully I think this is perfectly understandable - the owners want the grounds to remain neat, tidy and inviting for both campers and children to run about on. There are also rules requesting noise, music and children to be kept to a minimum after 10. 30pm. Again this is to ensure everybody gets a comfortable nights sleep.

I think it’s the team effort of staff that makes this site such a perfect find for a lovely weekend/bank holiday trip to explore the Derby Dales. I can’t recommend this site highly enough and, having been twice already at short notice on a bank holiday, will certainly be visiting again. To any staff reading this, thank you for a lovely time. Your efforts didn’t go unnoticed.

Campsite is very good for the kids with 4 parks 2 sand pits under cover a small crazy golf course and weather permitted a bouncy castle and an inflatable climbing wall. There is also a train that takes you for a short ride around the campsite I think twice a day. When we checked in we had a choice of a quite pitch at the top of the campsite or at the bottom one that’s near the biggest park. The cleaning, laundry and shower blocks are keep clean with one at the bottoms and one at the top of the campsite The top one has a handy freezer to store your frozen food, They have a small entertainment room above the cafe that’s good to entertain the kids in the evenings with a disco. All in all we have a very good pleasant stay and will be going back at some point.

 Stopped here for Bonfire weekend.

As we live 6 miles away paying around £37 a night inc granddaughter and dog.

Seems a bit much on your doorstep but going rate overall for this type of event.

The site is well maintained, toilets, showers, waste disposal points very clean tidy and a credit to the site.

As said below some seasonal pitch users think they own the site, but just ignore them to be honest.

(you cannot expect the site to be responsilble for there attitudes)

Children love the place, had to go and drag them back to the van for food.

Very clean site, dogs welcome, and Child perfect.

My only grape was that the gator trucks could watch their speed a bit more, some of the drivers are a bit heavy with the right foot.

Signs everywhere saying 5 mph yet they seemed to ignore this!

Will return next year.

Stayed on a super-pitch over the bank-holiday weekend (other family members stayed on the tent field).

Note: there is no drain for grey waste on the super pitches(??!??)

A long queue down the lane to check-in on the Friday evening left some drivers frustrated (displayed by a bit of unnecessary horn honking!).

Fast easy check-in, then we were led to our pitch, which was very disappointingly no grass at all. We were pitched on a large dusty gravelled car-park-like area shared by a number of touring caravas and a couple of mobile home chalets.

The near-by tent field looked nice and flat, but was very crowded.

Ablutions-wise, only used the top shower block, which was 'ok' in terms of hygiene, however we had to queue (or return later), as there were so many people staying on site, and one of the 4 showers had zero pressure, and another was a dribble, leaving only 2 useable showers for a significant number of users! The plugs were generally blocked with the usual hair plug, and the floor was muddy as expected on a busy bank holiday with lots of campers and kids.

Water was hot, free, and on a 'normal' shower system (not the bloody awful push button system). A hairdryer and basins were provided in an open plan layout.

(I was advised that the main block was much cleaner, with more privacy, and generally a better block -but I didn't try so can't comment).

The nearest Chemical disposal point was blocked, so had to search to find an alternative. This was again 'OK' but not ideal.

In general, it felt like the facilities were not sufficient to cope with the number of people staying on the site.

Entertainment facilities-wise, there was a cafe, bar, fishing pool, loads to do for the kids (multple playgrounds, sandpit, etc. ), fishing pool, nature walk, which were nice, however they didn't make up for the feel of being generally overcrowded.

The management team were brilliant. Polite, friendly, and running around trying to keep the place clean, tidy, and in good order.

Location was an excellent base for exploring the area.

Wow what a weekend! the staff on site were great but the seasonal people made us feel more welcome! especially one person who is sited behind the sand pit, she was very busy with her own children but she watched my children on the play area while I was able to use the facilities, she also made time for me and told me lots of information about the site/area and local shops which I wasn't told much about on arrival! She also made us aware of the train rides and other things our children were able to do on site.

The toilets and showers were always clean Day or night and always full of toilet roll (which is great)

This site is great for the kids and even older children ! To watch your children have fun and enjoy the weekend makes all the stress of setting up the tent worth it. We all felt very safe and the freedom we could allow our children was amazing. All our kids had an amazing time and made lots of friends, we forgot to bring our bikes and were offered to borrow some from others kids on site and my eldest child had a whizz on another child's electric scooter, which he thought was amazing and is now asking us for one!

Being in high season the cafe/bar could be open later than 8pm but we just ended up going to the local shop and brought our own and sat outside near the bottom play area while the kids played on a huge climbing frame/hidden house/tunnels/sand pit.

Looking to book again very soon as now the kids don't want to go anywhere else 10/10

Stayed at this site for two nights to try out our new awning as its only a ten minute drive away from our house.

I have to say that knowing the area well the site is a jewel in the rough.

We arrived on site where you have to park up and report to reception to check in, after which we were showed to our pitch, which was far from level but still in a nice area and seemed a million miles away from where we actually were.

The site it seems is aimed solely at entertaining the children, train rides around the site, bumper boats, tractor rides and a zip line plus many parks and a huge covered sand pit. On site you'll also find a bar and cafe serving snacks all day.

The shower blocks were clean and modern with plenty of hot water the toilets were clean and cleaned regularly throughout the day. The chemical taste disposal was quite a walk from our caravan as was the grey water.

The surrounding is OK with a Tesco express nearby and a bigger superstore a short drive away, its a nice base if you intend on visiting Derbyshire peaks and towns, Matlock is a twenty minute drive away and a little further is Bakewell and Buxton.

As I've mentioned the site is perfect for children and the security on site is strict and the rules are enforced, there is a coded gate to enter and leave the site and always one of the staff nearby keeping an eye on it, at night there is a night warden patrolling the site and making himself clearly visible to everyone.

A little gem of a site which I will be visiting again as soon as possible.
