Had a 2 nights enjoyable stay here. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Nice pub in village. However most of the site was tapped off as it was too boggy to use, the electric kept going off and I feel as they are open all year, it would be nice to have some kind of heating in the shower blocks.

Me and my husband stayed here for a week and were joined by the rest of his family the following weekend. We all had a really good time. Most relaxed and friendly site we have been to. Toilet facilities good, no kids with us this time so cannot comment on the play area but all the other kids on the campsite seemed to be having lots of fun. Village only a short walk away with a pub. Weekends great for kids and adults (loved the glow sticks). No curfew, fires allowed and good company what more can you ask for. All of us are looking forward to returning next year and bringing the kids with us. Thanks to all who work at the campsite for making us feel very welcome

We spent a nice weekend here at the beginning of September. This is a really good site with laid back owners who seem to fall over backwards to please. The main field is a little uneven and sloping, apart from the very top of the meadow but we didn't find it a problem. There are also pitches in the woods for the wild campers although we were told that this area floods when it rains. The site allow campfires in front of your tent and sell wood by the wheelbarrow full. The toilet/shower block was clean and functional but I can imagine queue's at busy times. There is also a play area for children and an undercover games area. Wickham Market is a small picturesque village with the usual shopping needs, there is a large Co-op store with a cash machine next door and a pub with various other shops around the village green.
In all, a site to be recommended

Fantastic value for money and perfect for families! The site is on a slope so come prepared with levelers! There are limited electric pitches and 1 waste disposal point and 1 water point. You have the availability of fire wood for building you own fires! Twice a week glow sticks are thrown far and wide in the dark and the staff all delight in telling the whole site before this occurs. Well worth watching the results (it had us in fits of laughter). Yes there are improvements being made (but unlike most sites they charge a fair price considering what you get and they are updating very fast). The showers are good and I look forward to them being tiled! Be warned the floor does get wet so take a bag and elevate everything onto the hooks and stool provided. If they get mucky all you do is mention it and they are their mopping in a flash (due to being nearby and willing!). Only 2 sinks so you can have to wait to wash up. There is a microwave, fridge and freezer although we didn't use them (we did chuckle at the warnings on them!), there is 1 washing machine and no drier (sadly it rained when we were there so we noticed the lack of drier. I think I'd be delighted if next year they'd got one (even a pay one! there is no local laundry so be warned). The play area is small - so what!, there's woodland, a field, a river and natures own climbing frames (trees) everywhere so the kids have a fantastic time. There is a pub 5 Min's away (we didn't go to as told children unwelcome after 7.30 but we walked 15 Min's to the 3 tuns on paths and were delighted! Great food and drink. Willing staff and lovely open restaurant. Very welcoming to children! 5 Min's walk you have a well stocked co-op, post office restaurants and a great hard wear store (with all the nicknack's you forget to take and a huge range of gifts! A fish and chip shop (slightly out of the ark but good for emergencies if they mention microwaving something refuse it!). There is a cash point (not one that charges!). A great little center! There are a lot of places to visit for all tastes or you can enjoy some fishing on the bank of the river! In short we will go back - highly recommended. Staff are willing and approachable so never be afraid to ask (some campers hoard loo paper which all you ever have to do it ask for!) Only improvements - tiling the wash areas (being done this year I believe), a drier (please)???, and a sign indicating to small boys that the drain at the back of the loo is a drain! Best thing is no specified leaving time or arrival time!

This is the best place that we have ever camped. Found a nice site in the trees. Showers and Toilets always clean and with plenty of loo roll. It had a freezer that you can put your ice blocks in.Not that we ever used them but there was also, microwave, fridge and kettle, they all had great little quotes on them due to some of our ridiculous health and safety rules. Wickham Market is lovely and has all the amenities that you could ask for. First time to Suffolk really loved it, can't wait to go back again, in fact I was wondering has anybody lived in a tent? Beats coming home to the t.v and computer. Highly recommended.

This was our first time camping and choose this site as it seemed to be easy going, allowed barbecues, campfires and no curfew. When we arrived the staff were helpful and friendly, We were told that the pitch we choose was opposite a group of 3 girls but we thought this would be fine. Little did we know that 5 young men would join them later to have a party that continued until 2am. The next morning another couple that were camping next to the girls complained and left the site. The staff spoke to us to make sure we were ok with the situation and assured us that they would deal with it. We had a lovely few days Wickham Market has a nice fish & chip shop only a short walk across a field and down a small footpath (beware stinging nettles). We also tried the Indian Restaurant which was very nice. The co-op was handy as well. On our last night the group of girls had another very noisy party. But this time it went on until 5am, Which we were not pleased about. The owner did not charge us for our last night as we complained about the party. The campsite was very nice great value for money and had excellent facilities, fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, kitchen area, and the showers & toilets were very clean. We would go back to this site as we hope that the party until 5am was a one off.

This was our first time camping (2 adults 3 kids 1 dog) and we could not have chosen a better site. Very welcoming and we were not made to feel at all inexperienced! The site accommodated all sizes of tents. It was clean and provided all that could be needed (fridge/freezer/washing machine/microwave/washing up facilities and obviously showers and toilets!) It was lovely to see all the camp fires around the site at night (barrow loads of wood provided at a reasonable cost.) The pricing system is simple and straightforward with no supplements for children and dogs. This camp site had a wonderful feel to it and we most certainly would not hesitate to return. Obviously with this being our first camping holiday we have nothing to compare this to but we will certainly be comparing other sites to this one!

Our second stay at this campsite and we had an enjoyable long weekend. One of the few campsites that allow log fires - a definite highlight. New facilities are a great improvement on the old toilet/shower block but can get a bit muddy if it's been raining. Nonetheless, the guys running the site are quick to replenish loo roll/mop up if you mention it. Staff are generally very friendly and will try to resolve any problems quickly. When we stayed (group of 3 families), the ground was a bit wet/muddy after a week of rain so we couldn't park the cars next to the tents and instead had to park up top of the field and then use a wheelbarrow to transport all our stuff. Campsite was quiet on Friday morning but rapidly filled up by the evening and was full all weekend. The site accommodates both large groups and families. Unfortunately this meant that we were kept awake till 5am by a large group of very drunk young men shouting & swearing the first night. The next night by midnight when it looked like things were going the same way, we spoke to the site attendant and he quickly dealt with the noise. So no curfews, but if you have young children or want to get some sleep ask for a family site away from the groups. Overall: + campfires, campfires and campfires! + friendly, helpful staff + good facilities - can get muddy - can be very noisy with large groups

What a fantastic site - My family and I turned up after 9pm on Friday night and felt very welcome. Staff offered to help with our tents and campfire and could not have done more for us. The site has a wonderful relaxed atmosphere and we did not have to nag at the kids to keep it down as you do on so many sites. The owners made a point of coming and speaking to us and making sure everything was ok. This is not a silent after 9pm camp site, which we loved as our lot are a little rowdy, but this would not be the place for people who want to be tucked in bed at 9pm with their cocoa! It was not so noisy that you couldn't sleep however. The facilities were great. The site was busy so they were well used and not once was there a major problem with queues or mess. This is the friendliest and most relaxed site we have ever stayed at - such a shame that it's all booked til september. I would go every weekend if I could.

I have previously reviewed this site and been back several times. As an update, the new shower and toilet facilities are good and with a few more minor tweaks will be excellent. Basically, they can get a bit mucky in the showers when busy and the site is wet from rain, my suggestion would be to leave a mop available for the campers. I wouldn't mind and I know the cleaners can't be in there 24/7. The doors to each cubicle are also a little stiff and hard to lock as there is no handle on the inside. Finally, the actual shower temperature is quite hot, ok for me but a little too much for my son. These minor items will not stop me going again to enjoy Alan's relaxed manner and welcoming way of doing business. Mr H is after all a bit of a legend!
