Just come back from a 4 night break at Small Batch, welcomed to site straight away by owner and showed to our pitch. Facilities good and clean, showers lovely and warm. If using Sat Nav when travelling to site, once you've entered Church Stretton follow directions on the website NOT your sat nav as there is a very narrow bridge which caravans would get stuck. The site is lovely and picturesque with amazing views of the Long Mynd, plenty of walks around and couple of local pubs. The kids loved dipping there feet in the stream. The owner did pull us out of our pitch after the weather took a turn for the worst Sunday night, ground was very boggy so very grateful. All in all definitely be going back.

As others have stated a very quiet, picturesque site with plenty of public footpaths including one right through the middle of it. Toilets/showers basic but clean and functional. The two pubs five mins walk away do food and real ales with the Green Dragon opening all day, for food also. Bus stop right by Ragleth Inn(the nearest pub) going to Ludlow or Shrewsbury. All grass pitches which were very slippy for the motorhome.

We have just returned from a very enjoyable week at Small Batch Camp Site. It is set in a beautiful spot, the access is good for a caravan, there is a tight turn at the gate but it is plenty wide enough. Make sure you follow the directions given on their website and don't rely on your satnav.
The all-grass pitches are generous and fairly level, with 10 amp EHUs. As you go in, the pitches on the left get the morning sun and the ones on the right get it later but keep it until early evening. There is a stream running down the right side, behind the pitches.
The facilities I would call 'farm type' - fairly basic, unheated and cobwebby but perfectly functional and cleaned regularly. I would take flip-flops for the showers.
The site is dog friendly, no particular facilities for them but plenty of places for dog walking and morning/evening emptying. Some of the footpaths do have tricky stiles to negotiate, so be aware if your dog (like ours) is a bit elderly or not very agile. There is a foot-path going through the middle of the site, so you do get walkers going through, occasionally with a loose dog.
There are many walks from the site, the Long Mynd, Ragleth Hill, Caer Caradoc or about a 30 minute walk into Church Stretton. The two local pubs are both dog-friendly, the Green Dragon serves well-cooked pub food all day and the Ragleth Inn serves at set times and their food is a bit posher. We only found one dog-friendly pub in Church Stretton, the King's Arms, but they were only doing sandwiches when we went. Berry's Coffee House is nice, not dog-friendly inside but they have a nice courtyard at the back.
The site can get very busy at weekends, with crowds of children playing in the stream, great if that's what you like but if you prefer peace and quiet I would avoid summer weekends.
We enjoyed our stay at Small Batch very much and wished we could have stayed longer. We look forward to returning.

Oscar and Pam give everyone a warm welcome when they arrive at Small Batch and this is a friendly camp site. They have been running this site for a long time and it is well organised.
We don't live in this area but I grew up in Shrewsbury and most of my family came from Church Stretton. I am probably prejudiced but to have the opportunity to camp in this beautiful countryside is very much appreciated.
It is possible to walk from the site straight up the Ashes Valley onto the Longmynd and yet you are never far away from the very busy town of Church Stretton which caters for tourists and the thriving town of Shrewsbury is just down the road.
This is one of our favourite sites and we will look forward to visiting again in the spring and the autumn.

This is a very pretty campsite located in a little valley leading towards the Long Mynd. The campsite is in pristine condition, being maintained to a very high standard by friendly and helpful owners who obviously take great pride in their campsite. There is a toilet block with 3 toilets, 2 sinks and a shower for ladies and then an additional shower room including a shower, washbasin and toilet, this would be particularly handy for a mum to wash smaller children in. The mens side had the same facilities. I did wonder as the campsite filled if it would cope with only these facilities but I have to say it did, I never had to queue at all, and at all times the facilities were clean and presentable. The showers were hot and there was no extra charge for them. Outside there are two washing up spaces, as stated by another reviewer they are in the open air, I don't think this is a problem as don't wash up when it is raining if it is! There were electric hook ups available if required. Within walking distance are 2 decent pubs selling a wide selection of real ales, the Butty Bach for those purest ales fans I thought was better at the first, the Raglath Inn but only by a tadge. Both pubs had good food menus but it was only the beer we sampled on this occasion. Not that we like beer but a trip to the Woods Brewery Tap House was also made, this is about 3 miles away in the village of Wistanstow. And if you like beer it is also worth a trip over the top of the Long Mynd to Rattlinhope and then Bridges to the Horseshoe Inn which is a Three Tuns Tap House, and my goodness what good beer that is, the stout is a particular favourite as is the Clerics Cure, XXX and well I amy as well say the whole range. The bus service to Ludlow going one way or Shewsbury going the other way is efficient and inexpensive. I caught the bus once to Ludlow for the craft/food market (Thursday) and then once to the Ludlow Food Centre, the bus drops you right outside. Buses are roughly hourly each way and the timetable can be found at the campsite. There are plenty of shops in Church Stretton selling everything you may need. We did actually get in some walking as well which goes without saying is amidst some of the finest scenery in the world.

The campsite is located on the road that runs to the side of the Ragleth Inn, at the top of the lane & over the small ford.
Arriving at the site, you have to knock on the house next to the toilets (which is an annexe of the house) & register/pay; the owner is very welcoming and friendly.
It is a relatively flat & picturesque site with a small flowing stream by the side & immediate access to the Long Mynd at the rear. The site is clean & tidy with ample EHU points and freshwater & we found it to be both tranquil in the day & quiet at night. I found it to be quite relaxing actually with the sound of flowing water nearby.
There are two or three showers and one of them is contained separately to the others with its own washing basin & toilet for privacy. The blocks themselves are clean and tidy-perhaps a little cobwebbed (!) but given the rural location, one must expect that. The showers were hot and do not cost any extra & I did not find that there was a queue, despite the site being approx 1/3 full. The dishwashing points are located to the side of the toilet/shower block and do not have a covering, so when raining-you may either get a little damp, or chose to wait until it has stopped! The water is however always hot & there was some washing up liquid available during my stay, just in case you forgot your own.
For hiking the location is superb, with a public footpath through the site & access to the Long Mynd immediately at top of the field. The location is flanked by the steep & tall hills of the Mynd and as such offers a relatively sheltered spot from the wind. It also makes for a spectacular setting when sitting with a glass of wine in the evening!
The nearest pub (http://www. Theraglethinn. Co. Uk/)is a short 5 min walk away with excellent ales and food & a relaxed atmosphere. There is also a second pub in the village about 3 mins walk away (http://www. Greendragonlittlestretton. Co. Uk/index. Html) which also has a great menu & ales; both have free wifi, which is a bonus as there is little to no mobile signal on the campsite-or there wasn't on my handset.
There is a regular bus into Church Stretton if you need it & also a train station where you can day trip into Shrewsbury and beyond. Little Stretton is a lovely village with lots of original buildings and charm & a small shop for supplies.
All in, a great campsite & one that I would love to visit again

We had visited this site some 12 years ago and it was a quiet little place. When we visited this year it had become a busy and rather noisy place, and we didn't enjoy it nearly so much. The pitches are now all marked out, so you only get so much space, and you are quite close to other people. Be aware that there are no extra charges for dogs, so it has become a place frequented by dog lovers. The tent next door to us to start with, they are three large ones! So be prepared for that. The whole atmosphere felt noisy, and one night there was a bit of a party going until 1am or so. The facilities are OK but are a bit of a mix and not the cleanest. The washing up facilities are not under cover, so most times you have to clean them before you start washing up. We were there a week, and we knew we needed to be gone by 11. 30am the day we left, and the owner was showing the next person to our pitch by soon after 11am and we had this guy standing over us with his arms folded and big caravan behind him 'waiting' for us to vacate. Not nice. Quite a lot of kids on site, a lot playing in the stream, which is fine unless it is behind your tent while their parents are further up the site. Yes, the location is fantastic, but it feels like a site that has seen better days. Probably more successful, though, and ideal if this is the kind of atmosphere you like. Not for us in the future, though.

Just back from a great week at Small Batch. A brilliant location, friendly yet unobtrusive owners, great pub, and the most dog friendly village imaginable, really made for a good holiday. The site is situated at the foot of some great walking country, pleasantly quiet yet right next to the village. Yes, the farmer was taking in the hay at quite late hours, but this is the countryside and to be expected at this time of year.
Several pitches were taken by Duke of Edinburgh kids, who were well behaved and not at all noisy after 10. 00pm. Most of everyone else were couples or families who just got on with enjoying themselves.
The facilities were adequate, although I didn't they they would cope with the full site, and was pleased to be proved wrong as I did not have to queue once for toilet or shower facilities. The water was always hot no matter what time of day. The Green Dragon in the village never failed to produce anything but first class food, and the Butty Bach beer was so good I never even tried anything else.
One final note, everywhere was so friendly and welcoming to our Springer, it all added up to a memorable week, we will be back.

This site is in a beautiful peaceful location at foot of the Long Mynd. We stayed during a busy summer weekend with a number of groups camping on site (including D of E teenagers and extended family groups ) but everyone had enough space and there was no noise nuisance. The facilities included 2 showers and 3 toilet cubicles in both men's and ladies which were spotless, had plenty of hot water at no extra cost and we never had to queue and wait. There are outdoor washing up sinks which were fine in dry weather and the view made this chore enjoyable. An Elson point on site allows waste disposal from chemical toilet without any hassle. There are walks directly from the site into Church Stretton or into the surrounding hills which removes need to use a car and 2 pubs are within easy walk from the site, both serving food. We did a circular walk with 3 under 10's along the valley from the site and onto top of Long Mynd from which there are stunning views right back to the site. A real sense of achievement and we all slept well that evening. Oscar accommodated our request to stay until late afternoon on day of departure which allowed us to make the most of the weekend at no extra cost. This was a refreshing and welcome change from Caravan Club midday departure times. Definitely a real find and one we will return to I'm sure

A beautiful small site in a wonderful location - We only stayed a few days but will definitely be returning. A lovely friendly owner greeted us and showed us to a generous size pitch next to the stream.
Thoroughly chilled out site with footpaths galore and a footpath directly from the site up to the Long Mynd. Had fun launching a 60kg dog over the stiles but once up on the valley footpath it was beautiful trek along the stream and up into the hills.
2 pubs are located in the same village as the campsite and Church Stretton is only a half hour walk away.
Toilets and showers were very clean and ample space for washing up.
All in all a lovely quiet site and one to add to my favourites list!
