Wow, this camp site has an enviable location, nestled at the foot of the Long Mynd, with beautiful hills to look at as you sit around camp. It is a walkers paradise, with 3 directions to choose from straight from site, and plenty of options from there. If you were to carry your shopping back from the Co-Op in nearby Church Stretton, you could leave your car parked up without needing it. Especially as there are two pubs within easy walking distance - only tried the Ragleth Inn, but heard good reports about the other too.
The owners are really friendly and helpful, but not in your face. We also found other campers even more friendly than usual, but I guess this is because the walking attracts somewhat similar types. Did I mention this site is in a beautiful location?
The site itself has good grass - we had a fair bit of rain one day, but it drained really quickly once gone. We found no problem with the footpath that leads through the site - no dog mess left on the site. The little brook that leads down one side is great for cooling a drink in, and the sound of it bubbling gently as you drift off to sleep is nice. Nearly all pitches are hookup. One little tip - as you drive through a shallow ford to enter the camp site, consider leaving the handbrake off and in gear instead - I had a brake jam on, and another camper said they had the same. I'm no expert - may not be because of the ford, but worth considering.
The facilities are basic, but more than adequate and kept clean. The newer shower room with its' own toilet and basin was more comfortable and had a better area to step out of the shower on to. Washing up is not under cover, but with views like that and pots of flowers all around, this wouldn't be a burden even in the rain. The only thing that we kept forgetting about was that there is no drier or towels to dry your hands in the facilities block, but they drip dry quite quickly in nice weather!
Of the various sites that we have stayed at, this is the one that we most want to return to. Primarily because of - have I mentioned this already? - the beautiful location and great walking.

Had a lovely 2 night stay at Small Batch last weekend. Site owner very polite and helpful. Recommended some good walks, and showed us to our corner pitch. He was always around if you needed him but not in the way. I found the showers and toilets always to be clean and fresh. The newer shower room had its own loo and small basin. Even though the site was full I didn't have to queue at all. Outside washing up area - 2 sinks in the open but with fab views it was a pleasure washing up! Pots full of flowers made it very pretty and homely. The site was full - pitches quite close, but a lovely mix of families, couples, walkers, cyclists and even some teenagers doing what may have been DOE. Busy there but never noisy. The farmer was harvesting right through till late so tractors passing right behind our pitch, plus thousands of sheep brought off the hill for shearing on the Friday night but that's all part and parcel of the countryside, and just made for a fun photo opportunity. Some amazing walks over the Long Mynd, and down various valleys. Two local pubs in village - however they were both closed from 3pm to 6pm on the Saturday when we walked past so didn't try them out. Church Stretton close by for supermarket and small quaint shops, plus antiques market. All-in-all thoroughly enjoyable stay and wouldn't hesitate to go again.

What a great site - the location certainly lived up to the photos on the website! We were met by the owner who showed us to our pitch, pitches are pre-allocated but we were quite happy with ours. At the top end there seemed to be larger groups so if you don't want to be pitched next to a group then it may be wise to state that when you book.
The scenery is beautiful - hills all around and a ford to cross on the way in. We went for several long walks from the site up on to the Long Mynd, different routes each time and no need to use the car. We also did a walk over the Stiperstones which was great and our favourite was up to Ragleth Hill and on to Caer Caradoc on the other side of Church Stretton - the owner told us about this walk and was interested in where we were off to and filled us in on the local area. There are several NT properties nearby, plus Ludlow and Church Stretton - both are lovely.
Ludlow has plenty of local food shops plus supermarkets and Church Stretton has a co-op plus take aways. We went to the Green Dragon for a drink and the food also looked good, didn't make it to the other pub but it looked nice too.
The site is well maintained and basic - 2 showers in each (the mixer tap ones are fab!) and an outdoor washing up area. No signs telling you what to (not) do, just a general expectation that people look after the place. And it works!
The owner was more than happy to do freezer packs for us - no charge for any extras like that. Facilities were clean and ticked all the boxes for us. If you like all singing, all dancing facilities then this isn't the site for you; if you want beautiful scenery, a laid back feel, showers and toilets then pay it a visit.
We stayed for a week and loved it - the area is a bit of a hidden gem and people had been visiting for years. I can see why. We were sad to leave and will visit again at some point.

Great site with really friendly and helpful staff. There are adequate facilities for the amount of visitors it receives.
This was our second visit to this site and we will definitely be visiting in 2014.
There is a pub a short walk away which offers meals on an evening if you don't fancy cooking.
We took the bus to Ludlow from this site which you can find just outside of the site.
There is a shop in the village but it has very limited supplies.

What a fine site, smashing owners and all nice and clean with great access to walks around the hills and Two pubs nearby.
A footpath goes right through the site so always hikers etc passing through but no issues there. The next field is the site owners Brothers so no problems walking the dogs in there I just wish some bad Dog owners would pick up the mess there Dogs leave behind !
Very Dog friendly as are the pubs so we all had a great time.
Pitches were cramped so if you like your privacy its not for you but ours is just food and a bed so were quite content.
Fantastic walk up the Valley 7. 3 miles full round trip returning through Church Stretton for a well earned cuppa, what a great walk.
Clean free hot showers just get the mixer ones as far better than the electric ones and no time limits.
Worth a long weekend for sure, longer stay for sure if your active but worth a visit if only the once.

This is a beautiful site in the heart of rural Shropshire. The owners are very friendly and the site was well maintained with good clean toilets and showers. There is a lovely stream that runs along the edge of the site and you have to cross a ford to get to the entrance. There are 2 pubs within a 5 minute walk and in nearby Church Stretton you can get a range of takeaway foods etc etc.
I would highly recommend this site!

If camping with rolling hills on three sides and a fast running steam along the side where better than Small Batch Caravan & Camp Site set within the Shropshire hills in Church Stretton.
This small family owned campsite offered us plenty space for our tent and porch. We have been to sites with better facilities but the water was always hot and inviting. The two washing up units are uncovered but with views of the rolling hills in the distance makes up for that.
Plenty worth seeing and visiting in and around the area, for those who are members of the National Trust Attingham Estate & Park and Powis Castle & Gardens are well worth a visit.
The area has supermarkets, petrol stations, takeaways which to not detract from the lovely surrounding countryside.
Two very fine watering holes are within a short walking distance of the site. The Ragleth Inn serves a good selection of beers and fine food but is expensive, the Green Dragon however we found friendlier again with a good selection of beer & cider but with what seemed and proved a good menu at affordable prices. Both seemed very full over the weekend so do book in advance. The Green Dragon 10694 722925.
This trip was taking last week in very bad weather conditions but the site is still worth a good report. The good thing about this site we found there to be few rules and those in place found in any other campsite.

Our stay at Small Batch Camp Site was everything we had hoped for and more!
Upon arriving, the weather wasn't so great (big surprise!) but that didn't matter once we saw the location. Based at the foot of two very large hills with a small stream running past from further down the valley, it was easily one of the prettiest camp sites that we had stayed at.
We stayed for 5 nights in total and sampled all of the local tourist attractions. We have 2 small children (4 and 7) and they particularly enjoyed Acton Scott Historic Working Farm. We also visited Shrewsbury for a day (lovely town) and went walking along Wenlock Edge and the surrounding hills. If you take the car for a drive to the top of the Long Mynd via Cardingmill Valley, you get an excellent feeling, as if your on top of the world!
The facilities at the site were great, there was everything we needed for a family of 4. We ate out every night of our stay and with the local town of Church Stretton nearby there was an extensive choice. There are 2 pubs only a 2 minute walk away.
We ate at The Ragleth Inn on 2 evenings and it was by far the best food we had on our stay. There are snacks available during the day and home made larger meals in the evening. With 2 very big trampolines out the back, it kept the kids entertained for hours whilst myself and my husband could relax with a pint of local bitter. We did not sample the other pubs menu, the kids were always adamant about returning to The Ragleth (typical!).
Overall, I would give Small Batch Camp Site 10/10. The owners were very welcoming and helped us with finding our daily activities. We have stayed in the Lake District, New Forest, etc and we can safely say that Small Batch is one of our most memorable stays. The location and facilities all made our stay thoroughly enjoyable and we would not hesitate to book again.

Short stay at Small batch campsite. It is ideally located in a picturesque setting with great access to a variety of walks including a great 4 hour trek round the long mynd.
Owner very friendly and accommodating and they leave you to your own devices which is great. Pitch sizes are very good plenty of room. Dog friendly.
Close to the town which has a good range of pubs and cafes. No fancy bits with this campsite it is fairly basic but in a great location. Only downside would be that the toilet facilities could do with a bit of a paint and an upgrade (and the doors kept closed so your bottom doesn't freeze on contact).
All in all a lovely little stay.

This site is lovely. We stayed for 3 nights. We chose it for it's easy of access to walks around Long Mynd and weren't disappointed.
We did out longest walk leaving the site and following the path up past the cottage following the stream. It's not an easy path but enjoyed every (sometimes) painful step.
The site is basic and I would imagine that in the summer the queue for the shower gets quite long as there is only 1 each men and women. (not forgetting the spiders).
All in all we will definitely be going back as there are quite a few more walks to do without taking the car.
