We've been going here for years, and have just returned from a long weekend here. We took six families and two were complete camping 'virgins'. They are now addicted to camping, thanks to this wonderful campsite, and of course four days of blistering sun. All the kids loved the sheep and the stream, plus being a small site, they have the freedom to wander around without us losing track of them.
For peace and quiet it cannot be beaten.
For the more adventurous, walk up Ashes Hollow, and the really adventurous mountain bike from the site to the top via Cardingmill valley, and then back via Minton Batch.

Great little campsite, one of favourites, was only £14 a night when we stayed including hook up. Fantastic walks straight out of site and onto long mynd and into church stretton. Toilets and showers quite basic but perfectly usable, if your after peace and quiet this is the place for you. Nice little pub on corner called the Raglan I think, has its own couple of trampolines that will amuse the kids for hours. Pitches to the right by the stream are best for a flat lying place but don,t be too concerned as the others are perfectly acceptable.

Stayed at the site for three days - Mon - Wed. The advantage being that it was three days of unbroken sunshine. Sun hasn't been seen since.
The site is ideally located and offers number of walks up onto the Long Mynd.
Toilet/Showers are basic but clean and when we visited didn't have to queue.
Owners took a genuine interest in their customers and were on hand if you had any queries.
Bumped into a bloke who says he lives about 10 miles away but keeps coming back. I think that says something about the site.
We will be back. If you have the option ask for a site near the trees - its flatter!

Just returned from my second visit to Small Batch, hope there'll be many more. The location is beautiful, the owners are very friendly and the facilities are always clean. Despite being the August Bank Holiday weekend the site was not too full and there was no excessive noise at night nor queues for the shower or toilet.
Went to the Green Dragon pub for a meal. The beer was well kept, the food good and the staff friendly.
The Little Stretton shop sells excellent bacon.

This is an excellent little site with the Long Mynd on your doorstep. The facilities are next to the house and there is a dishwashing sink.
There are two pubs in the village which serve food and a small shop. The bus stop is at the Ragleth Inn near to the site where you can get a bus to Shrewsbury or Ludlow. The nearest train station is a mile away at Church Stretton. There is much to see in the area and great for walking or just relaxing.
It can get quite busy at weekends and bank holidays but I have been there many times and will be back there again. Ideal for families. The owners Pam and Oscar are friendly and helpful.

Visited for 4 nights in August 2008 - Wed to Sat. The site is beautifully located. Due to recent poor weather the ground was very wet but we were able to move slightly off pitch (the pitches are numbered) to gain a less damaged bit of ground. Owing to the surrounding hills the sun came onto the site around 8.30am and was lost around 5pm.
Owners were very helpful and friendly.
The facilities comprise: Male 2 WCs, 1 Shower, 1 urinal, 2 sinks. Female: 3 WCs, 1 shower, 2 sinks. These are certainly basic and slighty cramped but for the time we were there were perfectly adequate, always clean and didn't require queuing. Showers were always hot. Personally would like to see duckboards in the shower cubicles - flip flops/sandals a bit of a necessity.
The weekend on the site got a bit busier with families but there still wasn't an issue. I can imagine though that if a large group of youngsters arrived things could get rather overloaded. Its not a large site so there isn't a great deal of ball playing space. The site has a stream running alongside it which seemed to attract children.
We visited the 'other' pub in the village (the Green Dragon) which is less Moules Marinieres and more Liver+Onions/Cottage Pie and slightly cheaper than the Ragleth. A group of 7 we arrived without booking and had a great meal with very good service.
There's a convenience store in the village (open 8.30-5) 5 mins walk from the site else Church Stretton is 5 mins drive away where there are lots of eateries and a Co-Op.
Would certainly use the campsite again if in the area.

This campsite is in a lovely setting in a pretty little village. The owners are very friendly and helpful. It is a great site for during the week - quiet and picturesque and I would go back again during the week. I would not however stay over a weekend again. Unfortunately, the owners allow far too many people on to the site, including large D of E groups who literally take over the site until their curfew. In all fairness, once curfew is reached they are quiet and considerate, but until that point you have to pay dodge ball to get to the toilets! Incidentally, the huge family that pitched next to us at the weekend brought all the mod cons including a microwave and toaster!
The facilities are very basic and minimal, however, they were perfectly adequate for during the week - unfortunately they were completely inadequate at the weekend.
There are lots of lovely walks in the area - a number of which go through the campsite or start in the village - a mixture of well and not so well trodden routes. The Tourist Info Office in Church Stretton has some booklets of walks written by someone local.
There are a couple of pubs in the village - the closest one is The Ragleth Inn, which is a great pub. They do excellent food, have guest ales and are really friendly. I would recommend a visit.

What a fantastic camp site. The views are stunning and the campsite is so picturesque. We stayed for 2 nights and although the site was busy we had a fabulous time. If there is a downside it is the sheep and crows waking you up in the morning but thats to be expected in the countryside. There are numerous walks around here for whatever level of fitness and ability and we can't wait to go back and discover more.
Pam and Oscar are lovely hosts and couldn't have made us feel more welcome. Facilities are limited but clean. There isn't a shop but a short walk from the site is a grocers etc and 2 pubs. We only went to the Ragleth Arms this time but with trampolines in the garden for the kids and lovely food, what more can you ask for. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Just come back from 3 nights on site. This was our first time camping/carvanning for over 8 years, to be on such a lovely site in such a beautiful setting was a real pleasure.
The toilets & showers are basic but very clean. The views from pitch 21-23 very nice down the site onto the hillside.
If you like walking, then there are 3 separate directions you can walk from directly from the site. Unless you want to drive up onto the Mynd, or have a ride into Church Stretton, it is possible to leave the car on site and just walk.
There is only one downside and the was no fault of the site. It was the Screech Owles. And boy did they screech at night. But with a trusty MP3 player and headphones, all was bliss.
The site is on the path of one of the walks, so walkers and school groups did pass through each day but this certainly did not cause us any problems.
We had a lovely meal at the Raleigh Inn, about 300 yards from the site. Although there was no shop on site, there is a little shop just down from the Raleigh Inn.
We will certainly visit again.

Just returned from a glorious 10 days at this campsite. This is an absolutely beautiful location and the owners, Pam and Oscar, couldn't be more friendly and helpful. Tenters should not be put off by the slightly sloping ground as mentioned by previous reviews. The toilet block roof has now been enclosed so, unfortunately, the swallows appear to have found a new home, which in a way is a shame. This is our second visit, the last being for 10 days in 2007 and we have already booked in for another stay later on this year. Can't wait!
