We booked two to three nights at this very well located site, on arrival we were met by the friendly owner and were instructed where best to place our two berth caravan. The site is in a beautiful location although the facilities were inadequate, in my opinion not enough for the amount of visitors. Our first night was peaceful, lots of children enjoying themselves but this did not bother us, however noisy adults the next night until the early hours did. When the next day they were joined by three other families in there party we knew we were in for a sleepless night. These campers were surrounding our caravan and at very close quarters. After consultation with the other owner we decided to leave, we were told we would not have to pay.
However on the upside, there are fantastic walks in the surrounding area and during our stay we had a meal at the Chinese Restaurant within the pub at the crossroads in the centre of Church Stretton (sorry but I cannot remember the name), it was one of the best meals we have ever had. The beautiful thatched church in Little Stretton is also well worth visiting, and Tuffins supermarket in Craven Arms is great for getting your groceries.

On arriving I immediately thought what a beautiful location for a campsite.
The owners are friendly and keep the grass nice and short and show you to your pitch when you arrive.
I enjoyed walks from the site and you can walk into Church Stretton however its quite a way. There is also a stunning walk at the far end of the campsite (go over the stile and just keep walking)
The stream is really pretty and the sound of the running water is lovely. The owls at night were not bothersome to us at all.
The co-op in town was expensive and not great to be honest probably best to do your shopping before you go, however there is a lovely butchers in town highly recommend it.
The washing up area was adequate, it was unsheltered and I washed up in the rain but it didn't bother me too much.
The only downside was that there was no 20ft rule imposed and it felt a little cramped and kids playing ball next to your unit, so if you like peace quiet and tranquillity I suggest you visit midweek!
The toilets were shabby and in need of some tlc and some cleaning of floors / walls etc should be done the toilets themselves were clean enough but no soap or paper towels! The shower in the ladies was a disgrace the walls and floor was filthy and there was a window in it so if someone wanted to peep in at you that was possible so I didn't feel comfortable to use it a second time (had not realised till I was having my shower about the window! as its not what you expect and I was half asleep!)
I would use the site again but would do so reluctantly but only because of the shower / toilet facilities everything else was adequate.
It was £16 per unit per night which is a little steep considering the facilities although I do think your paying for the surroundings.

I cant remember what number visit to Smallbatch this is, but I have been coming here with my family on a regular basis since 1960, its one of the last of its kind in this country, just enough facilities to get by and the best location you could wish for.
Mr& Mrs Prince have been running this campsite for a long time and thankfully nothing has changed in all those years, its still exactly as it was when my parents first visited way back in 1957 apart from it now has electric.
If you want to take camping back to how it used to be and how it should be weather in a tent or caravan then smallbatch is a must on your list of sites to visit and if the quiet gets too defening you are in walking distance of two of the oldest villages, Little Stretton and Church Stretton in Shropshire.
Once visited it will be a return soon place to go.

A lovely, small, quiet site.
Toilet / shower facilities are basic, but adequate and kept very clean. Mrs Prince must clean them several times each day. Soap is provided, until another camper walks off with it.
A shallow stream runs to one side of the pitches. Our children loved playing in it. I was quite happy to let our 3 year old in there with minimal supervision.
Very friendly site. I have good memories of seeing my eldest child join in a communal cricket match, my middle child running around playing hide 'n' seek around the stream, and youngest playing boules. Idyllic.
Magnificent scenery. The only downside I can think of is that dogs are allowed, and some owners are not careful about cleaning up, despite the number of children around. However, it would be impossible to ban dogs because of the footpath.

Small Batch is situated in a lovely location – with great views of the countryside and a bubbling stream at one end of the site. It is a very short walk in to Little Stretton and a further 1.5 mile to the larger Church Stretton which has a large Coop and pubs and restaurants.
We found the pitches were a bit close together as the site was busy. The main drawback was the toilet and shower facilities. One male and one female shower was not enough for the amount of people staying which included large families. If you don’t want to wait, it is best to get up before 7am to guarantee your shower. To my disappointment, during the whole stay the ladies toilets did not have any soap to wash your hands which is very unhygienic particularly when you are supposed to clean your teeth in the same basins.
We visited both the pubs in Little Stretton – The Ragleth which was very nice but mostly food oriented and The Green Dragon which is a bit more basic, also serving food (the chicken & ham pie was delicious) and a nice atmosphere with more locals drinking there.
The walking around here is fantastic and if the weather is bad you can catch the bus from Little Stretton to Shrewsbury or Ludlow for a great day out.
Overall we enjoyed our stay but would only return if the toilet / shower facilities were much improved.

We stayed for 5 days at this lovely site and thoroughly enjoyed every moment. The site is relaxed, friendly and on the whole relatively quiet (bearing in mind it was very busy). The toilets/showers on site are basic, but functional. I love the outdoor washing up sinks, but perhaps not quite so much fun if it is poor weather!
Loads to do in the area we can recommend Cardingmill Valley, walking up Ashes Hollow to the Long Mynd (directly from the campsite), visiting Hawkston Follies, Acton Scott Victorian Farm and Stokesay Castle. There are loads of other things to do, these were just the few that we managed! We are seriously considering returning to this site again soon, we might get time to visit Ironbridge museum then.

Spent two nights here on my first sleep in a tent for over ten years. The site is situated in a very picturesque setting with a brook running along the edge of the site, but most of it is lined with hedge and trees. The site only had one downside - it has a well used path through the middle of the site, but hey it means you get to meet or just say hi to some fellow minded countryside lovers.
The toilets and showers were free and clean - you need to queue if it is busy. Situated within a very short walk of two pubs - sadly I was unable to test them out as I was looking after some Duke of Edinburgh students.
Hoping to go back in my newly purchased camper van.
Site owner was very cheerful and always ready to answer questions.

This was the 4th time of visiting Small Batch (over the last 3 years) with our 3 small children and dog, and we had a fantastic time as always, kids love building dams in the stream and playing poo sticks on the bridge and the fact that there are plenty of family friendly walks (or harder if wanted) literally on your door step is also wonderful.
There is a small shop in Little Stretton which sells all the basics, really nice pubs to eat at and Church Stretton is just 5 mins by car if you want to do a larger shop or have a takeaway or restaurant meal, there's a great deli and health food shop there too. Theres a nice playground in Stretton and a train station if you want to visit ludlow, shrewsbury or hereford (to name but a few) without the car.
BBQ's are permitted on site as long as its off the floor - bricks are available on site.
Pitches pretty flat and a good size leaving loads of room between pitches and even when busy it is always quiet we have never felt crowded or overlooked.
Facilities are basic and always clean, there are toilets and showers for men and women, and an outside washing up area, electric hook ups are available if needed and drinking water available around the site.
Owners are really friendly and very helpful my daughter fell off her bike there a few years ago and broke her arm and they were fantastic!
This is a great value for money site in stunning location, Shropshire and neighbouring Herefordshire have loads to offer and this is a fantastic place to make your base. So much so we are going again in a few weeks!

There is no doubt this site is beautifully situated, however, we do not share the enthusiasm written by most reviewers. Shortly after arriving and pitching we were asked by an angry camper if we snored, shocked or what? Apparently she was kept awake by a snorer the night before and on finding that she had ourselves and other tents pitched too closely to her tent, it was too much. Despite the rudeness of her welcome, she had a point! I wonder though, does this camper expect the sheep and wildlife to keep quiet at night? The site was indeed crowded and it was hence noisy from 9am - 11pm. We like to see kids play and have a good time but when cricket balls are falling in around you, as you are having tea, it is a bit too much and made worse when their guardians are playing with them.
We found the shower and toilet facilities grotty, with queues in the mornings for only one male and one female shower and to do washing-up which was outdoors and not protected from the weather. How do people wash-up in bad weather? Immediately behind the two washing up sinks is the chemical toilet disposal point. Not nice having someone dumping their toilets when you are washing up.
This is a real shame as the site itself is lovely and then there is a charge of £14/night.
The village, itself, is sweet and the nearest pub is very good. There is a superb Indian restaurant in nearby Church Stretton.

Had a fantastic three nights on Small Batch - first of the year so meant to do some tent maintenance but we were so chilled we couldn't even bring ourselves to do that! Weather helped but so did idyllic stream and nothing but the noise of nature.
Spent a great day exploring nearby Church Stretton with various beer gardens and a lovely delicatessen (my husband rated their pork, apple and onion pies). Returned to Little Stretton to sample the beer in the Ragleth Inn (300 yrds from site) - all highly recommended.
Site itself was beautifully situated in a quiet valley, access through a ford. The owners couldn't have been more helpful, readily freezing ice blocks and having a chat over the washing up.
We chose this campsite specifically for it's proximity to the Cosford Air Show (40 mins away) where we saw the magnificent Vulcan do her first display of the season. We were not disappointed by either!
However, although we had no problem with the following, some campers may see it as a negative - The site is very popular with Duke of Edinburgh students. Whilst we were there they were very well behaved, but shear numbers put a strain on the facilities - there is only one shower per block. Having said that if you are willing to wait until about 9.00am they had all gone off walking by then and the entertainment they provide in the evenings as far as 'people watching' is concerned is worth the wait for the shower.
I would recommend this site for a complete break - just don't expect it to be 'all-singing, all-dancing'. We have never visited this area before and could not do any real exploring due to my husband's cricket injury (a fine defensive cover drive, so I'm told), However, this campsite has whetted our appetite and we are sure to return once injuries permit!
