Very very child friendly, with lots of animals to interest our 4 year old and, as said before, feed at 9 am. They have a wonderful attitude towards children, even going as far as putting on the Sticky Club on a Sat morning, free for the kids. Lizzie made a hat and hasn't had it off since she got home!
The walks around the site are fantastic, round the fishing pond and up to the vineyard with plenty of space for dog walking and exercise.
The bar is cosy, dry and a lovely log burner is in there to dry you out on the wet days that we had. Everything really clean and tidy, including little things like the shower curtains changed and washed.
Two washing machines that you can use for a small fee and a great family/disabled room.
Pitch sizes are fantastic, if you have a largish tent, they are very accomadating. Three camp fields, one with no electric for you rustic campers, one by the play area for the families, and one for people who want a bit of piece and quiet.
Nothing is too much for Bev and Dave and their family and they even remember your names, making you feel like old friends.
The site location is fantastically located, very central to lots of attractions and beaches, and good for the local shops.
Even in the rain, there is a lot to do in the area and on the site and Dave and Bev are always there to give advice on where you can go.
So good we're going back in two weeks!

Definitely the best site we have visited so far. This is a very rustic but naturally beautiful site, especially if you walk up to the top dog field and look at the views across the country. Where you can also meet the two friendly goats. The camping field is on a very slight gradient which is not enough to worry pitching or making it uncomfortable. The children's play area is very well kept and has the adventure playground feel to it, which the kids loved to play in and meet the pet rabbits in the play area. As said before if the kids are up and about by 9a.M they can help feed the animals.
The shower and toilet facilities are situated in one of the old farm buildings, which have been converted to a very good standard and always kept very clean. The small but friendly bar again has been converted from one of the old farm buildings, which is very rustic indeed with stone floor, painted stone walls and wood burning stove. There is a teens room next to the bar (not arcade) which is very basic but again the kids loved it in there.
Then there's the fishing lake which my 7 year old son and I loved. Both being total novices at course fishing, dave (the owner) was on hand to give plenty of good advice and help he even lent us some floats, weights and landing net as our tackle was not suitable. You can also hire fishing tackle off dave which I think is only about £2 a day. Has said in previous reviews there was raft floating on the lake and a fishing competition while we were there, organised by dave and bev. Behind the fishing lake there is a small stream and walk area where you can also take the dog for a walk.
If you are looking for karaoke, disco or late night entertainment then this is NOT the place for you. However if you are looking for peace, tranquility and very friendly people who actually go out of their way, so that you enjoy yourself. Then this place is definitely for you. We will definitely be re visiting dolbryn in the near future, hopefully!

This was our first time camping and couldn't have chosen a better site to have our first experience. The pitches had plenty of room and opened out on to the field with plenty of space in front. At the back of our pitch was the playground which was an instant attraction to our children and continued to be so, especially at 9am for feeding of the animals. The sites family shower/toilet room was especially useful having two young children but all facilities were clean and cleaned regularly. Very friendly site from both the owner and other campers. Activities are arranged for children - whilst we were there mini rafts were made and decorated and then at night taken into a rowing boat and floated out on the pond - our daughter was impressed that hers was still floating the following day!
Newcastle Emlyn is quite a small town with limited shopping facilities but major shops are not too far away.
There is a range of very good beaches nearby. These can get very busy on a sunny Bank holiday as we found out at Llangrangog which was full to overflowing with visitors - we went on to Newquay where we managed to find one of the last spaces in the car park. Excellent beach though.
Folly Farm (near Narbeth) is also worth a visit - a zoo and fairground as well as a farm.
We have earmarked this site as one to return to.

Just returned from visiting this site for the first time. It is definitely one of the best sites we have been too. The owners, Dave and Bev, are very friendly and helpful. The surroundings are idyllic with a pond (Dave organised a fishing competition one evening for the kids) and meadows / fields, playing area and even a small bar. Very beautiful and peaceful with no traffic noise. Facilities are clean, if a bit rustic. The beaches nearby were also great and we spent most of our time on the beach or at the campsite. Dave recommended a nice pub nearby where we had a decent meal. All in all, very good and we will definitely return.

Well we had never been before but booked for 4 nights over the Easter weekend, needless to say we have booked again for 2 weeks in August.
The drive was very scenic for us from Cheshire and the only bad bit was the last hill pulling out of Newcastle Emlyn, (husband did swear) but with a heavy van behind us we still made it and were rewarded with fab hosts (Bev and Dave), even their children helped out with some of the Activities set out for the children - egg painting, basket making, easter bonnet parade, egg hunt and for the Big kids the egg catching! glad I was packing up for that one.
Facilities were always clean and plenty of hot water available in the free hot showers. Never waited for a shower which were very roomy with privacy area to get dressed in.
Grounds really nice with plenty of things for the children to do, great that they all got up dressed and out the door by 9 am to help feed the animals (bliss for us a lie in!)
Only went to butterfly place - bit disappointed as none flying but this is a private collection not a commercial attraction.

What a great site, definitely the best we have been to so far! Bev & Dave are fantastic & work so hard maintain the site to a high standard & keep all their campers happy. We knew it must be good when on arrival Dave mentioned that we were the only ones who hadn't been before & we were not disappointed.
We were the only tent brave enough to visit at Easter & we were shown to a large grassy pitch close to the play facilities (for our young children) & told to spread ourselves out anyway we liked.
Easter at Dolbryn is a really special occasion for the children with activities such as Easter bonnet parade, egg decorating & basket making, egg rolling & an Easter egg hunt. Apart from this additional entertainment there are also ponds & streams (all well away from the family field)a fantastic play area suitable for children of all ages, a ball field & loads of space to roam about. The children can even help Bev feed the site rabbits & goats each morning.
For more adult guests there is a bar with a log fire which is open weekend evenings with a teen room next door.
Showers were fantastic - roomy, hot & adjustable, toilets etc all spotlessly clean, with a lovely rustic charm about them. We didn't use the laundry room but you can use a washing machine (for a small charge) & fridge freezer during your stay. Excellent pot wash area too. Site also has a very well kept small fishing lake and I believe you can hire equipment from the owners as well.
If you are looking for a traditional family camping holiday with a bit extra & great facilities then you won't go wrong here. We will definitely be back!

There isn't much I can say about this site that hasn't been said already, all of it true. Bev & Dave achieve an amazing balance between providing for families with kids & couples who just want to chill out. Despite the site being full, we never felt it was overcrowded. We were on the Lakes and found it really relaxing. It was nice to find a site where dogs are actually welcomed, with areas where you let them run free. The surrounding countryside is really beautiful with a number of unspoilt beaches within a short drive away. The bar with its wood burning stove, cheap drinks and friendly atmosphere is not to be missed. If you want to unwind and relax I recommend Dolbryn, if you want to party all night try some other site.

What a fabulous place!
As others have said, Dave and Bev are very welcoming, nothing is too much trouble and they do all they can to make their campers comfortable.
When we arrived after much rainfall our pitch was very muddy so Dave juggled things around to give us a better pitch. It was very refreshing to have a campsite owner be more concerned with us being happy with our pitch than his grass.
The facilities were always very clean, with lovely showers with continuous hot water (no having to push a button every 5 seconds here). The washing up area could be a little better as there are only 2 sinks, only one of which has hot water. The entrance way to the washing up area could do with being paved or gravelled as it got very slippery at times.
My children, aged 5, 7 and 10 couldn't get dressed quick enough in the mornings to go and help Dave or Bev feed the rabbits and chickens. The family of ducks coming onto the field everyday was a lovely sight and my children loved feeding them bread - the best fed ducks, chickens and rabbits in Wales!
The playground has a swing / slide set up, enclosed trampoline and sandpit. The kids loved it and congregated there all day long.
The Barn Bar is very cosy and welcoming. Great prices too. On our last night there was a party for Bev's 50th Birthday which had been arranged between the regular campers and Dave.
The regular campers are all very friendly, we were even invited to a huge tea party in our field for the birthday of one of the regulars. It was a lovely sight to see everyone had chipped in with the food and brought food and drinks. Everyone turned up with their camping chairs and made a huge circle. The kids had a great time - again!
Newcastle Emlyn has a swimming pool which we all enjoyed on one of the rainy days. The shops are small but there's a small Somerfield, Spar and CK's Supermarket for all the essentials.
Cardigan has a Tesco's and Aldi about 20 minutes or so away.
We didnt see much of the surrounding area as the kids wanted to stay onsite and explore the fields and just play with their new frinds. We will definitely go back to Dolbryn in the future to explore the area and enjoy the fabulous atmosphere.

Can only confirm what others have said. Learned about the site from reviews read here. Great site. Stayed here for 2 weeks throughout all the rain but the weather never stopped us enjoying ourselves. Facilities always clean and only had to queue for the showers once in 2 weeks. It's also nice to have showers that are actually adjustable. With many sites the showers are fixed for position and temperature. Bev and Dave, as others have said, were great. There is just too much to see in and around the area even in 2 weeks, will definitely be back next year. Enjoyed the on site bar of course, everyone was friendly and we had a good laugh. The animals on site are great for kids.Bev and Dave were always happy to keep kids and adults amused with activities at night such as Quiz nights and Star gazing for those who are interested in the sky at night.
All in, this was a smashing holiday which even the weather couldn't spoil.

Fantastic site.
We were here 4 days stay.
Facilities excellent and the owners are very friendly and very helpful.
Not too many pitches and great place for kids to have fun as all the tents are around the perimeter in the fields with electricity.
Peaceful at night apart from the occasional sheep but great to get a good nights sleep.
Weather was horrendous but there is plenty to do around the area and the visit to the gold mine was well worth it. The field stayed firm and was not muddy.
Some good places to eat and there are good take-aways in Newcastle Emlyn.
Bar is small and prices cheap but no draft beers and wine is only sold by the glass.
