Location
Situated off an accessible B road in a great location in the Golden Valley. If this site was in East Devon it would probably be the best.
Site
Modern well kept site with excellent amenities, even a fridge and freezer that you can make use of in the facilities block.
Pitch
Generally flat, some small undulations, and a gentle slope, but plenty of scope to pitch your tent. Field offered good space between units.
Facilities
Wash rooms immaculate at all times, excellent hot showers with good water volume, probably the best we have experienced
Shop on site but only open half day a few mornings a week. Sells a good range of basic products and some newspapers.
Near by
Stayed for a weekend, so only had 2 nights away. First night we visited the on site Poston Mill pub, small establishment with a limited food selection. Ordered Chicken Tikka Massala, very nice and my wife had scampi and new potatoes also good. They do take-away too. Due the the small size of the establishment it is advisable to book in advance.
Visit to Hereford on the Saturday once a nice day out, finished by some 5* homemade cooking of steak, new potatoes, mushrooms with a peppercorn sauce a few glasses of wine. Lovely

We spent a wonderful weeks holiday at this immaculate site in the golden valley. We are CC club members and are used to very good facilities.
The site did not disappoint at all, it was equal to everything that we are used to and in some area's better than that. The full service pitches were the best, the wash rooms even better and the ground were large and well kept.
In fact for families and dog owners you couldn't get better, with large play area, large area's of grass, on site dog walks plus walks straight off the site.
The pitches are large enough for caravan, awning and car and are level hardstanding in gravel.
The site is situated in a lovely part of Herefordshire but very close to the Welsh boarder, with the beautiful town of Hey-on-Wye. One place not to miss, especially on a sunny day is Ross-on-Wye (Symonds Yat).

This was our third visit (may each year) and the first time it had rained.
Although the week before had been torrential rain. Our friends who were going to camp had they're booking cancelled by the site (camping field was water logged) but the caravan area was well drained and no problem at all.
The pitches have plenty of room and are all level.
The pub / restaurant on site serves very nice home cooked food decent size portions and at a reasonable price.
Our daughter enjoyed the 'pirate trail' treasure hunt which took about two hours to complete a nice stroll around the park.
The loos are very well looked after as is the whole of the park clean quiet and well maintained.
If using a sat nav check the journey first, ours took us through some nice villages but narrow lanes, we now stay on the a roads and it is a doddle to get to.

Poston Mill is a lovely site set in the Golden Valley of Herefordshire.
We camped for 7 nights and can recommend this site to all potential campers. For children the grass, serviced pitches (which are flat and you have lots of space), are close to the playground which caters for all ages.
There is a nine hole pitch and putt course, lots of nice walks around the site and footpaths which lead directly from the site to nearby villages.
Toilets and showers are all spotless, there is a dedicated washing up room and laundry facility.
The on site shop opens 8. 30 to 12noon on most days and there is lots of 'what to do' information in the reception.
In short this is a peaceful campsite (every night was nice and quiet), situated in a great part of the country with easy access to Hay-on-Wye, Hereford and all that cider!

My wife and I stayed at Poston Mill over the weekend of 12 August with our 3 year old twins (Boy + Girl)in our Vango Oregon 800 tent.
We had made a swift visit many years ago but that was just to drop off our son and his mate at the same site and I was impressed with the location and 'vibes' even then.
We were at the reception soon after the prescribed arrival time (12:00 noon)and had a nice warm welcome from the lady on duty. We were then escorted to our grass pitch which to be honest was rather worn and tired looking. That said we had EHU and water right there.
Our pitch was in a small cul-de-sac style area that could hold about 15 other units, however, when we were there there were only about six campers in this area.
Once the tent was up it was away to check out the area. The twins were rather shocked to see a brightly coloured tractor in the play area. Oh, they had fun on that. They do like tractors, goodness knows why because we live in the Black Country and tractors are not that common a sight. The rest of the play area was OK, but in my opinion it could use a few more items for the young uns to clamber on.
Loved the area and the site, nice walks were available. Didn't use the Mill pub located at the site entrance as the meal prices were to my mind rather expensive. I'm no skin flint but I do bulk at paying £5 each for sausage & chips for the two children. We actually went about a mile up the road to another pub that had a chip van outside and we paid about £8 for Fish and Chips and two small chips. It was very tasty fare and the kids loved talking to the man in the van who kept giving them free samples as we waited for the fish to finish frying. (10/10 for service)
The site does have a shop but strangely it closes for half of the day every day, so they must make a mint if they can afford to shut 50% of the time. I believe they sell the normal campsite items, bread, milk, papers, etc etc.
Toilets? Well they were always clean and I only ever saw one other person using the showers. They had music on tap (on tap! get it. Oh how we laughed) and rather odd Blue LED lighting over the toilet closets. Why that was I am still at a loss to work out, as they made the loo's rather gloomy and 'cold'
Would I go again? Yes.

What a wonderful site.
I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this site.
Friendly staff, immaculate peaceful site, wonderful location, lots to see in the surrounding area, particularly if you're a National Trust Member. Brockhampton is the cutest house Ive ever seen.
On site shop has limited opening but is lovely and sells quality local produce and basics.
Shower facilities are second to none, modern clean and immaculate. Warm toilet block with music playing! Amazing family/disabled bathroom with shower and separate bath, brilliant if you have small children. Laundrette and pot washing are of the same high standard. Showers, hairdryer and iron are free. Lots to do on site. Playground is large and on the edge of the site so the kids can let off steam without disturbing the peace of the site, football pitch, golf, tennis, badminton, table tennis plus the usual playground things.
We can't wait to return next year.

Having read previous reviews of this site we were encouraged to book for a few days, as it appeared to be ideal. Firstly we have to agree with the appearance of the site - immaculately kept and with excellent facilities for children, dogs and adults! We enjoyed the fully serviced aspect of the pitch too. It is easily accessible from the main road and well signposted.
However, we had a rather surreal experience with this site, which rather spoilt the holiday for us. Nobody has mentioned in their reviews the amount of seasonal vans pitched, most of which were empty when we visited. We were placed in an area with approx 8 empty vans and we were the only tourer. The other vans were generally deserted apart from two days when a couple were occupied, and whilst this may be some people's idea of heaven we did feel rather isolated. Although we enjoy our own company on holiday, it is nice to be able to greet other people in passing and see them enjoying themselves. There is also a large area of static holiday homes which was mostly empty at that time, and atmosphere seemed lacking. Unfortunately this site did not 'click' with us at all - the radio which some have mentioned seemed to consist of endless chatter which was too loud and therefore inaudible and quite intrusive.
The area itself is very pretty and there is loads to do - Hereford Cathedral to see the Mappa Mundi, Hay on Wye to just wander around the book shops, Symons Yat for spectacular scenery, Monmouth for the Medieval Bridge.

Poston Mill is by far the best site we have visited so far. Everything was just perfect for a brilliant holiday in beautiful and peaceful surroundings.
There is good pitch space with electric hook up etc so it doesn't feel crowded.
We went with our dog Mollie and the dog walk is excellent and she certainly enjoyed walking through fields and paddling in the river.
The shop is well equipped with local produce and the bread and cakes are lovely.
The pub/restaurant is really nice and we were pleasantly surprised when we were told we could take Mollie in and even have a meal downstairs in the pub section with her too. The staff are very helpful and friendly throughout the whole site and the grounds staff always wave when they trundle by on a tractor or grass cutter or golfing trolley. It made us smile when one lady rode by on the golf trolley with a lurcher type dog running alongside.
The facilities are second to none, the showers are really good and you feel like you are in a very nice hotel in the toilet block as it is so clean and even has amusing pictures on the wall to look at when washing your hands. There is also a laundry room a crock washing room and a disabled family room with shower and toilet.
The best thing for us was the dog washing room, a proper dog wash with a chain that you hook onto their collar and a temperature controlled shower and even a hair dryer too. Mollie loved it, especially as on a hot day as we used it to cool her down.
There is a little area next to the reception with lots of information leaflets and booklets about the surrounding area and it's activities which was very useful.
There is also a children's playground, with a real tractor to climb on, an area for french boules and a net for tennis. There is also a brilliant 9 hole pitch and putt golf course which was very popular.
There are several car boots in the area on sundays to visit some are free to park too.
We were sorry to leave after 10 lovely relaxing days and will definitely go back very soon.

We stayed here for a lovely weekend with friends and could not fault anything.
The toilet & shower block was wonderful, kept spotlessly clean and with really powerful showers. Bliss!
The leisure facilities were brilliant & kept 4 adults, 3 children & 2 dogs entertained all weekend, the favourite being the 9 hole pitch & putt course.
We enjoyed a walk through the fields on a public footpath into Peterchurch and sampled the 2 local pubs, both were very friendly and welcoming.
We will definitely be returning to this site and trying the others in the same group.

We arrived at this beautiful site on friday afternoon, and were nestled in a lovely corner close enough to the park, but not on top of it with children it was great.
The pitch sizes varied, we had a larger pitch which was great with our large tent but the pitch next to us was a little tighter and we would have struggled to get us and our car on it.
The walk to the shower block was a old railway track originally, the shower block was immaculate and the showers were good size and had dry areas for your clothes etc. Even a bit of background music playing and lovely and warm in the evening.
The on site shop was a little gem, but only opens mornings 5 days a week, so don't get caught out.
There is a restaurant that is available from the road or campsite, we didn't eat there but I was impressed with the size of the slice of cake they were serving!
The play park was probably the best I have been too, a whole field dedicated to the kids, with an old tractor, variety of climbing units, swings and a couple of grass tennis courts and table tennis table all in the park area, it was great.
They were a little strict on where the kids could ride bikes but understandably, and with the large park it was acceptable.
We would definitely go back there and for a little longer next time!
They do not like group camping but were fine with us 4 families.
