We spent a night here in August. It's a very busy family site so be wary if this is not your cup of tea. You are given a key for the toilet/showers so have to ensure if one in the party goes off with said key that they bring it straight back with them afterwards!
The road to the site is single track and winding, just about pass two cars but if two outfits meet each other then someone better be good at reversing.

I have just returned home from a fantastic trip to Wood Nook. (£16 pn for a family of 4) The site was lovely, a really great place for families. The owners were really friendly and helpful - I had to drop some stuff off in order to fit the kids in (who'd got the train to Skipton) and they were very accommodating - the shop was a bit of a pain as only open 9.30 - 11.30 and 4.30 - 6.30 and we didn't have much luck with the showers although other people seemed to get on OK. The showers are 20p for 6 minutes and we tried to put 3 x 20p in to get 18 minutes but that didn't seem to work (i think we just got 6 mins for 3 20p's!), I think you need to just run out in the buff to top it up! The kids made lots of friends and there was a game field and a park which they enjoyed playing on, although I would suggest taking bug spray as the park was full of midges. The campsite is set in a gorgeous area with wild rabbits running around in the nearby fields, we even saw one in the park. The closest pub, the Old Hall Inn, was nice but a little pricey (the food wasn't that great!) but was ok and kids enjoyed playing hide and seek in play area. Its a nice walk down though, about a mile and half each way. Great days out near by were Bolton Abbey, fantastic if weather is good (we went when it was tipping it down and still had fun fishing for crayfish etc but can imagine it looking much better in sunshine). The priory itself is gorgeous and they have a quiz for the kids which kept my LO (7yrs) entertained for ages. They also have the nicest guides who know a lot about, well, everything! How Stean Gorge was another favourite with a pitch black cave so take a torch (they hire them out but its £2 a pop!) my little lad loved it and although its quite narrow in places it widens out to a cavern with bats in the ceiling. There's bridges, a river, slippery rocks, woodland, not a bad day out if weathers not great coz its all fairly sheltered. Also do lovely cake in tea shop and bike hire for £6. We also went to stump cross caverns which was good, although a little odd as it is an unaccompanied tour. We felt a little like we shouldn't be there, wandering around in the depths! all in all a fantastic area which I will visit on numerous occasions in the future am sure, and the campsite is definitely worth a visit if you're brave enough for the showers!

My wife and I stayed on this site for 3 nights in August 2009, and we enjoyed our stay. The owners were very welcoming and helpful, the facilities good, and the site itself very pleasantly located.
Others have mentioned the narrow approach to the site, but we didn't find this a problem at all. If anything, the position of the site gives it an isolated and safe - away-from-it-all - feel. We particularly enjoyed the walks adjacent to, and near to, Wood Nook.
Apart from the slightly irritating requirement to need a key to access the loos and showers, we found nothing at all to complain about here. A very good base from which to explore the Dales - as well as wider excursions to places like Harrogate and York.
The site represents excellent value for money, and we would definitely visit again.

Visited this campsite for a long weeken at the end of last summer and although the weather conditions were not superb we really enjoyed our stay here.
We had a very friendly welcome and were told about the local amenities etc, there are leaflets available near the shop for choosing where to spend your days out.
The facilities were always spotless and you get given a key for access upon arrival. The only thing I would say that if you have little ones who like to go to the toilet a lot in the night it is a short walk up the hill back up to reception to the toilet/shower block.
The field you stay in is roomy and the pitches are around the outside so no unsightly rows of tents and the pitches are spacious and off EHU for those campers like ourselves that like to have some home comforts.
The owners are very friendly and the site is kept very tidy.Field can get a little muddy when it rains but then again you are camping so wellies should be an essential.
Overall very satisfied with this site would definitely return if visited the area again, lovely part of Yorkshire plenty to see and do around.

Have just returned from 3 night stay, lovely campsite, have three children and the tent field is like a loop shape with pitches along the edge leaving a nice area in the middle where kids could play and you could see them which was great.
Fab for families quietened down about 11 and that is on a weekend, friendly on site staff, great home made cakes in the shop, small playground and large games field, pitches had plenty of space so never felt hemmed in.
Not a bad word to say about this site will definitely return.

The site is nicely tucked away off the main road but the approach is via a narrow road. There are nice pubs nearby and Grassington is a nice walk. The toilet blocks are separate from the showers which is not my preferred choice and I would say they were a little 'rustic' with the toilet block being a former stables, but that said, they were clean and stocked with soap, toilet roll, etc. The pitches are on slightly sloping sites which means that one side of the caravan was very close to the ground with the other raised on blocks. The caravans are quite close together too. The price was okay (£33 for two nights, two adults and one child over 5 and one under 5, with electric hook up). The only real problem we had was with the midges. Each night they ate us alive and that was the same for the other guests too, who all commented on it in the morning. For this reason I wouldn't be keen to return with a group who would sit out, but if it was just us, we would sit in the caravan.

We stayed at this site with 2 young children aged 3 & 5 in a tent. The location of the site could not be better, it is 2 miles from Grassington and surrounded by beautiful countryside with lots of walks nearby. There is a great pub nearby within 20 mins walking distance in Threshfield which is handy for bar meals / drinks and has a children's playground.
We were a bit disappointed with the location of the tent field which although good was down a narrow lane on the site with a trek to the toilet / shower block. There is a separate charge for the showers which although are nice and hot the meter box is placed near the entrance and to get full value a walk in the buff is required!
There is a children's playground on site which is handy for the kids and a separate games field. Also on site is a small shop supplying the basics although this does not open in the morning until 9am for milk etc which isn't camping friendly seeing as most campers are up well before this time. There is also a freezer for freezing ice packs however this is done through reception which is not open all day and so are not readily available.
In all we would visit again, the staff were helpful and there was an information hut on site with lots of walks / guides and places to visit. We were quite lucky with the weather as well which is always a bonus!

Just returned from an excellent weekend at Wood Nook. The facilities are very good, with a better than usual ratio of showers and loos to number of pitches so that you never had to wait. Everything also very clean.
The camping field is in a lovely sheltered area with pitches marked out around the side. The on site shop is small but did seem to have all the essentials. There are also hot and cold drink machines near the loos.
Hard to find fault with this site, as it's also in such a beautiful area - definitely worth a visit.

We've just spent a week here and had a lovely time!
*We had a hard standing pitch with elec hook up. It appeared quite close to other caravans but this was not a problem.
*The toilet block and shower block were very clean though showers did not run for long enough and were not always warm.
*The surrounding area is beautiful with lots of great walks - especially enjoyed walking to Linton Falls!
*Playground for the kids is great.
*For the last 600yds to the site its a narrow single track road. We did not meet anything when we arrived but did when we left - rather tricky!
*The owners were very friendly and helpful.
*Small shop sold fab home made cakes - YUMMY!

Just got back from 5 nights at wood nook. We stayed in the tent field (good sized pitches)with no EHU which is tucked away behind the main facilities buildings and really peaceful most of the time, there was some noise from the barn on occasion during the day. The site has plenty of loos and showers (20p) and we never had to que for anything. There is a small shop on site selling all sorts of bits and bobs. You can even order your daily paper if you like. There is a small park for the kids and a separate games field and also a dog walking area. There are some great walks from site and lots to do nearby. It is approx 2 miles to Grassington and Stump Cross Caves, Bolton Abbey, Burnsall and Pateley Bridge amongst other great places to visit are a short drive away. (We wouldn't recommend Kilnsey trout farm though as it was very poor value for money and didn't live up to its brochure at all!)
The owners are friendly and very helpful!
Its a very narrow lane leading up to the site but if you abide by the depart before 12 rule and arriving after 12.30 then you shouldn't meet anything coming the other way! We never did , but care is needed.
We really enjoyed our stay and this is a great site if you like a quiet family holiday.
Will definitely be going back!
