I have been to this site now five times over the last 3 years, July 09 was my last visit and that is only because they where fully booked during October.
I don't like going to the same site more than once but this place has something special about it.
The toilet/shower blocks are immaculate, always clean and warm and have music playing through the day.
The site is perfectly maintained by the staff.
There are two large play areas for the children and two in my opinion, very relaxing dog walks with lovely views.
I have stayed on both types of pitch my favourite being the ones on buttermeadow, simply for the children as its all flat and safer for them on their bikes. Although I would have no problems staying on blackrock, all the pitches are first class!
There is also a nice tent field for people under canvas.
Although I agree with a previous comment about the surrounding roads being narrow. If you are sensible you can walk up to the Two mile oak pub for a pint in the afternoon or even a meal in the evening, children are welcome.
Or drive to a pub in a nearby village called the copper dollar, excellent food.
During the summer they have charity nights in the courtyard where they have morris dancers, food and drink etc. Really enjoyable.
Its the ideal location for Teignmouth, Torquay, Dawlish and the moors.
I love this site that much I'm booked in for 2 visits in 2010 totalling 2 weeks and I'm hoping for a winter visit.
I believe it deserves the awards as the staff work very hard and are always friendly and helpful.
My only complaint would be that its a 6 hour drive from liverpool.

Probably the best campsite in the uk!
Pitches, Toilets & grounds immaculate.
Staff v friendly & helpful, Information room packed with info on things to do around & about. Fresh bread, papers, milk etc are ordered for you to pick up fresh in morning from well equipped shop. Fish n chip van Weds & Sat Evening-delicious & made to order. Two good pubs nearby also with good food 'The Union Inn' & 'Two Mile Oak'.
Playgrounds well equipped with slides, climbing frames, wendy house, wood log castle & tennis courts. As soon as someone leaves their pitch staff are there cutting grass & tidying ready for next arrival.
We went with some friends who had been before & we are glad they asked us to come along & stay on Blackrock Corpse area- with state of the art toilet block, power showers, underfloor heating, large child bathing area & disabled toilet & shower facilities.
Will definitely be booking for 2010!

This was our first proper holiday in a caravan after always having holidays in tents. The site is amazing - so much so that we booked to go again at the end of the summer holidays - the only week that we could get in. The children absolutely loved it here, so much so that some days they didn't want to leave the site. The staff are friendly and helpful, the shop basic, but they will order in bread, croissants, milk etc. The play areas are fantastic and the facilities unbelievably clean - I haven't come across a site this good before. Highly recommended.

The most perfect family site. Fabulous, very clean and warm facilities with peaceful music playing! Family run by extremely welcoming people - nothing is too much trouble! Family friendly with good dog walks on site. Great shop - good choice of decent wines, great fresh bread & croissants to order. Good mobile fish & chip van twice weekly. In the middle of the countryside, yet close to Torbay for family entertainment. Choice of 2 pubs with good food & beer within walking distance. Don't think any other site can compare to this - it's so good - yet it's not cheap, but worth the extra money.
Have been every year for 10 years - looking forward to the next visit already!

This has to be the best site I have ever visited in over 40 years of camping and caravanning. All other reviews mention all the facilities and I've no need to re-iterate them here. It really deserves the five star rating and I cannot fault anything, a really well run business, friendly and efficiently run by a very slick and happy team. Families ,couples, dogs, tents , you name it, all made welcome. NOW HERE'S A PROBLEM. There is a Blackbird in the woods close by, that delights in singing 'I'm a Barbie Girl ' all day long. One of the visitors said 'If I can catch the blighter I'll dye him pink, then we could all see him and enjoy the show.' Radio Devon is interested I hear. Back to the point. Give this wonderful site a visit, you won't be disappointed and if you have children : in the morning it's like a scene from Teletubbies tripping over bunnies everywhere.

What a lovely site. We stayed here for 2 weeks the weather was lovely but most of all the care and attention that the site receives is second to none. The Toilets are clean and plenty of them the grass is cut as soon as the pitch is vacated and the next person arrives. The staff are lovely and quite clearly love working at the site. We stayed here in May and left our caravan in storage until August when we returned and then moved onto another site in Cornwall. I would recommend this site to anyone. Love it!

Had a wonderful time at Dornafield. We knew from the moment we drove in that we would love it. We stayed in The Orchard where the pitches are enormous! and the pitches are all set out on the perimeter which means there is a communal space in the middle where all the kids (and adults) played and were safe because they were in sight. Because of this it had the feel of our own little community! The owners were very helpful and friendly and the prices in the shop were very reasonable. They have a room completely dedicated to leaflets, flyers, information about the local area, so you could find out virtually anything you wanted. The kids were happy playing and making friends at the Games room and everybody in The Orchard was friendly and stopped as they passed the tent for a chat. The showers and toilet block were spotless and could not be faulted, even had fresh flowers in there in the morning. The water was hot and plentiful and we never had to queue even though it was half term. They do shut the loos / showers from 11.00 for about and hour and a half which is a bit of a pain but at least you know they are kept thoroughly clean. The wardens were always around and very friendly and the little fish and chip van comes round twice a week. Overall the campsite is immaculate, could not find fault with anything (which is unusual for a perfectionist like me). Maybe they could have done something about rain on the Wednesday! LOL
Would recommend this site to people wanting a quiet peaceful family holiday.

Just fantastic, I think that says it all.
We went to this site thinking it can't be as good as everyone says, there must be something that we can find fault with, but there is not.
The pitches are immaculate, the toilets/shower block are just fantastic and the staff could not have been more helpful.
Great dog walk area, one of the largest I have seen on a site.
The fish and chips that are available on site on a wednesday and a saturday evening are a must.
If you are planning a trip to south Devon make sure that you choose this site.
We have re-booked for August already, Luckily they had just had a cancellation, so we took the last week that was available on the site, Can't wait.

We spent May bank Holiday at Dornafield and had an amazing time. The owners where very helpful as we had problems with our car the day before we were due to come down but they allowed us to bring our van instead. Checking in was easy and only took a couple of minutes. It is a beautiful site with the cleanest toilets we have seen on a camp site, there showers where amazing to (even better than our ones at home!)
We will definitely be returning to this campsite in the near future!

Just echoing lots of others. Superb site, warm welcome, immaculately kept. Serviced pitches are great, water, waste, chemical empty and tv (take your own lead). Loads to do in the surrounding area.
Full concentration required on leaving, quite tight but no problem if you take it steady.
Will definitely return.
