Dornafield is undoubtedly one of our favourite sites. The facilities are second to none, the staff so very friend, y and most helpful at all times. The pitches are all fully serviced and of a very generous size. Being very well placed for visiting the surrounding beaches, the pretty market town of Totnes and Newton Abbot, Torquay and also Dartmoor. The site also offers a take away facility from their quarry kitchen which offers superb chips, sausages, mushy peas but unfortunately re-constituted grey uniformed sized fish, which was a big disappointment when in this part of the country, fresh fish is readily availanle !

We visited the site this June for a short break, the site is set in a beautiful location within the grounds of a 14th century farmhouse. The staff are a hardworking, well organized crew but we still got that family feel when arriving and was well looked after during our stay. The pitches are well laid out with water, waste water facilities and electricity as standard. The toilet blocks are spotless with laundry and showers all very nicely modernized. We had Amber our King Charles Spaniel on holiday with us, she thoroughly enjoyed our strolls in the dog exercise area. There are playgrounds for family's with young kids and a games room for the teens. We visited Dartmouth, Torquay and Brixham town all within a short driving distance of Dornafield and also had a lovely meal one evening at the Two Mile Oak pub which is just up the road from the site, they pride themselves on a good choice of real ales which we felt obliged to sample. Overall an excellent site well worth a visit.

Narrow roads to get in and out of here, take care! Friendly people run this place, steep road to get up to the touring section (did see a tractor taking caravans up and down for the less confident). Every pitch doesn't have privacy between them, we had trees and a field behind ours. Serviced pitches, although the toilet could have had a better lid, little ants were all falling in! Pitch wasn't wide enough for car/awning/caravan, so we had to park our car at the front, no biggy. There was an enclosed dog walk. Strange toilet and shower block, the walls weren't all the way to the roof, so you could hear in the mens what was going on in the ladies and vice versa. There was a small shop on site. Tent field opposite with their own toilet block, very, very noisy! thank goodness the caravans are way away from here. Went to Torquay and Dartmoor. Huge and very busy ASDA nearby in nearby Newton Abbot.

Having just returned from this wonderful site on a pitch with full facilities, close to fab cleaning facilities & the best dog walk we have ever found. Almost didn't want to review cos it is soooo good. It is ideally situated to the coast & Dartmoor & all the walks that it offers. We visited four of the local pubs for meals, The Two Mile Oak, The Union, The Pig & Whistle & The Duke of Wellington & enjoyed meals at all four, with the D of W being exceptional. My only criticism was that we although we had TV hookup we couldn't get proper reception. Also as previously stated the lanes to the site are narrow & the locals drive far too fast making it rather risky to walk in the area.

Overall this is a very good caravan site but it is certainly not the best we have visited. It is very well situated for touring in Devon and is within easy drive of all the main towns and places of interest. The site is beautifully maintained, the showers and wash rooms are immaculate and the staff are very friendly. These are the good points.

We found issues with the very narrow approach lane in which we met traffic on arrival and on every other time we used it. The seemingly non stop mowing with petrol mowers from about 9. 15 each morning (no lie in here) is very off putting and at odds with the description of a peaceful site. The really unusual cone shaped water from the shower heads is interesting and you get plenty of exercise moving around the shower to get the water all over your body as you do with constantly pressing the button to get the water. It is also inconvenient to have to move from the shower room to the toilets next door to have a shave or for ladies to do their hair as there are no facilities for these functions in the shower rooms. A dog shower somewhere would be very useful and is not unusual on sites of this price range. We had read about the fish and chips so we tried them but thought that selling frozen fish and chips in an area near to Brixham where fresh fish is landed is very odd. We love good fish and chips but found these pretty awful and not cheap.

Not a site we will be visiting again I'm afraid.

This was our first visit to Dornafield and we found it as good as previous reviewers have stated.

We stayed in Blackrock Copse and really appreciated all the amenities on our pitch. The site is exceptionally well laid out and maintained and all the staff are friendly and helpful. They are constantly working around the site.

Fish and chips are available on Mondays and Fridays and are cooked to order. I don’t agree with a previous reviewer that the fish appeared to be reconstituted.

Dornafield is well situated to explore South Devon – there is a bus stop just over half a mile from the site but we didn’t walk to it as the lane is narrow and local drivers whizz around quite fast. We had one meal at Two Mile Oak Inn and the food was very good – we were lucky to get a seat and I would advise booking a table.

We had no problem with wifi whilst we were there.

We thought Dornafield was an excellent site.

We stayed at Dornafield for seven days early October 2014, and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. We were given a warm welcome, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The layout of the site is very picturesque, well maintained, and is in lovely quiet countryside, well away from any main roads. We were in the Blackrock Copse area with very convenient fully serviced pitches. The toilet/shower block is immaculate, superbly designed and had underfloor heating. Dornafield is in an ideal location, not far from Torbay. We liked it very much and hope to visit again next year.

This is an excellent site with very spacious pitches and very good facilities. For dog owners there's a good-sized fenced off-lead exercise area and plenty of on-lead walks. For children there's also a good play area. On Friday they cook fish & chips plus other chippie-type meals on-site - the chips were excellent but the fish seemed to be reconstituted.

The only concern we had about the site was towing a car behind our motorhome up the narrow, twisting lane from the main road to the site. A-frame cars are not easily reversed, so we unhitched on the Two Mile Oak Inn car-park at the turn-off from the A381.

You are given discount vouchers for a number of facilities in the general area, including the aforementioned Inn plus another closer to Totnes. Food in both is highly recommended and good value.

First time to Dornafield and won't be the last(already booked for next year). We were given a lovely pitch on Blackrock Copse. We had 3 weeks of sun and little rain. The staff were all friendly and I have to put in a good word for our UP NORTH wardens well done. Everything was kept neat and tidy. The sanitair was always clean. Fresh bread was available daily in the shop and had what you needed and if not the supermarket is only 2 miles away. The fish and chip van was very nice and I think we visited it 4 times, beats having to cook yourselves! If we had brought our dog he would have had a great time in the dog areas. The Two Mile Oak Inn serves lovely food but it is advisable to book. There is lots to do in Devon and we didn't have time to do it all.

I do have two min points sorry, 1) the mirrors are too low in the sanitair block and 2) although it's not the fault of Dornafield (but they did choose the provider) the internet was rubbish. We paid for one appliance for 4 weeks and very often couldn't get on. However we complained to the provider and we are getting money back.

This site is only a short drive for us but well worth it. We stayed in the black rock copse pitch 43.

Pitch was level, having the water and waste so close was a real plus.

Toilet block was spot less, didn't check out the play area.

We tried the on site fish and chips for friday night, very good we thought and price was reasonable.

Quiet at night apart from the owl hooting which was better to listen too than her good self snoring.

The wardens/reception staff and owner all very helpful.

The approach road is fine provided you take your time. I found approaching traffic very considerate.

It is a great location roughly equidistant between dartmoor and the sea.

This is a jewel of a sight and is a must if you are considering a stay in this area.
