March 2004 Now this is a ***** site! Clean, tidy and the owners are doing their environmental bit by replanting Devonshire hedges between plots. We have been twice - once in the summer and once at the very start of the season where the owners opened up a week early for us! Summer was a little busy but once the kiddies are locked away for the night it is very quiet and there is plenty of room between pitches.
Be aware that the owners will ask the owners of tents to move them after a week of a fortnight stay - this stops the grass being too badly affected! Shower/Toilet facilities are the best we have seen - even the quiet piped Radio 2 isn't offensive and gives a little cheer in the early morning.
The only annoyance was the shower "tap" which is a push-button on a 20 second or so timer - like the ones at service station sinks. But then again I guess it saves on unnecessary use of hot water!

July 2004 Brilliant site, very clean toilets, very helpful staff, lovely shop where you can get everything from bread, milk, and other foods to gifts postcards and even camping essentials. Good information room. Our kids loved the games room with table tennis etc, and the wonderful play areas in the wooded areas. Plus chip van visits the site. – What more could you ask for?

May 2004 We have been to Dornafield at least twice every year for seven years, which probably says it all!
The other review on this page by John gives most of the relevant facts but I will also mention very large pitches, two good dog walks, excellent shower/loo facilities, small but comprehensive shop (chilled white wine in the fridge!), quiet and safe feeling site, pretty/rural outlook and, most importantly, extremely friendly and helpful owner/managers.

May 2003 We are regular visitors of Dornafield. There are 3 parts to the site: The Orchard, small and cosy, is ideal for tents and adjoins Buttermeadow. Overlooking part of Buttermeadow is the most recent addition Blackrock Copse. There are no residential or letting caravans on site and there is no clubhouse. There are however a wealth of local historic village inns within a short walk. The site shop is very well stocked with all your holiday needs and a few luxuries. The local bakery delivers daily and Dornafield always has fresh milk, cream and eggs. The adjoining games room used to be the milking parlour but now has table tennis, darts, television, pool table, table football and some game machines. Dornafield is a nice quiet site with a nice countryside feel. The owners of the site are very friendly and you will receive a warm welcome. Have a nice stay.Regards, JOHN & LISA

September 2002 Beautiful site, set in grounds of 14th Century farmhouse (which was attacked by the Roundheads during the Civil War). This was our third visit and cannot recommend highly enough. Beautifully landscaped grounds and superb shower blocks. Premier pitches are just that! Very helpful and friendly staff. We recommend the Two Mile Oak Inn at the end of the lane for drinks and food which is a lovely Olde Worlde pub.
