We arrived very stressed out after trying to maneauveure the caravan down the long narrow lanes. It is deffinately a good idea not to arrive early at this site, we even tried to only leave the site for the day early in the morning and return later in the afternoon to avoid meeting any oncoming traffic.
The site itself was beautiful and very well looked after, the best grass I have ever seen on a pitch! We stayed in Butter Meadow which was a fully serviced pitch. They encourage you to pitch your van and awning exactly on the hard standing which left plenty of room for the car and a grass area to sit out on.
There were bins in between each pitch and you put a sign out when it needed emptying, what a brilliant idea. Other pitches in black rock copse had sanitary emptying points for each unit. That didn't appeal to us as I could imagine our children playing around it and not sure of smell either.
I guess this could be handy for some though. Our waste hose was not long enough to reach the drain on the pitch, so we bought some in the well stocked shop. The play areas were brilliant and not too noisy. Toilets were very well kept with radio 2 playing in the ladies! The showers were next door.
Entertained by a visiting Morris dancer team one evening, which was funny. We bought all our bikes but wish we had left the adults bikes at home as it was too hilly and couldn't see anything over high lanes.
Beautiful site but I'm afraid the approaching lane has put us off from returning.

Lovely site with superb facilities and the toilets were always warm and clean. Nice Dog walk area and a good shop where you can order papers and bread.
Some lovely wildlife around with Buzzards a plenty.

Despite being a narrow lane for the approach, we were impressed with the arrival area and the attractive buildings. The friendly ladies in reception gave us all the information we needed to find our pitch. The pitch was level, spacious and well managed.
We were very pleased to see that we had water, drainage, electrics and TV aerial on each pitch. The site was well laid out and beautifully kept. The toilets were exceptional. Clean, warm, piped music and quilted toilet paper.
The showers were of the same high standard. Even the chemical waste area had it's own sink, soap, and paper hand towels. All the staff were friendly at all times and it shows how good camping can be.
We will definitely be back.

Just returned from a 4 day break. Very welcoming and friendly staff. Well maintained site with excellent facilities.
Probably wouldn't stay during school holidays again, as it was quite noisy especially as our pitch was opposite the play area. Best dog walk we have found anywhere with fully enclosed area making it safe for our springer spaniel to run around off lead.
Local pubs serve excellent food and are worth a visit, although you may have to book a table.

Very friendly staff, we stayed two nights we parked up on the orchard and it was the biggest pitch I have seen, plenty of space in between each unit. Very clean site.
Amenities were very good, separate toilets and showers for both men and women, showers are spacious, free, once button pressed you get a good amount of time. All amenities are very clean, washing up area clean airy and bright.
A nice dog walking area. There is one pub close by the two trees inn within walking distance great food but recommend you book, dogs are allowed in garden an bar. We will be returning.

We stayed for 10 days and have just got back, lovely site and so picturesque. Shower blocks clean, (apart from 1 disgusting child or woman writing on the mirror which the wardens soon cleared once reported) and site well looked after. I would not recommend the quarry kitchen, we paid £15. 20 for x2 fish and chips which were frozen and had no taste at all, very disappointing! I could not believe it was all frozen, I saw them with my own eyes poring the frozen fish and chips into the fryer, we threw ours away as it was so bland. Absolute rip off.
The pitches were not very big but I think this is because we are used to staying at caravan club site where there a massive pitches. My other gripe was we did not like how the bin and waste disposal was right next to our awning, had we have known this we would have picked another pitch. The two mile oak which is half a mile up the road is lovely, well worth a look. Although roads are very narrow with some cars and vans going quite fast but we discovered the area does have a lot of these narrow roads, not great. All in all a nice site.

We have just spent 9nights at the best caravan site we have been on (dornafild). The staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for us, the site itself was spotless, the toilets and showers were immaculate. The dog runs were tidy and clean (Alfie said thank you). We will be back in fact before we left we have booked for next Easter, thank you Simon and all your staff what a team

Fantastic site. If it's peace and quiet your after, this is the place. Very good facilities, always clean and tidy. The shop on site is well stocked and the staff are very helpful. There is a pub at the end of the road and a great butchers shop at the garden centre half a mile up the road. 10 out of 10 for this site

Stumbled upon Dornafield by mistake, after the site that we had our hearts set on staying at was fully booked. I am SO glad that they are full, as we would never have discovered this gem of a site.
They have set the bar so high, that I'm worried we'll always compare future sites to Dornafield! We stayed in Blackrock Copse, worth the extra pennies in every way. It was peaceful, well laid out and a perfect place to relax and unwind.
The toilet's and showers were always spotless, and never busy even though the site seemed to be very full.
It's the perfect base for exploring beautiful South Devon and all it has to offer. Newton Abbot is bigger than you'd expect and has plenty of supermarkets to choose from!
We will most definitely be back. Can't wait!

Wow! What an impressive site. Sat here with a cold bear enjoying the peace and tranquillity of this little oasis (well, 34+ acres) in glorious Devon.
Last minute decision to get away for the weekend and decided to take the plunge and definitely not disappointed. Whilst the site caters mainly for touring caravans and motorhomes, they provide 16 excellent tent pitches which are now, fully serviced - whilst you are encouraged to recycle, you even have your own bin which, when full, you simply display the red disk attached to a chain and it is emptied for you! That has to be a first on any site we have been to. We had pitch 12 which faces due south along with 11, 13 and 14. 10 is a little small and right next to the path that leads to the shower block. 9, 8, 7 and 6 are very level as are 12, 13 and 14 but 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 are gently sloping but face north and are adjacent to one of the sites roads (5mph though).
Well equipped shop with all the essentials and bread croissant freshly baked but must be pre-ordered the day before.
The check in and welcome were excellent and we had a choice of pitches. Excellent information provided in regards to local pubs ( two within 10 minutes and 20 minutes walking distance). Clearly dog friendly with not one but two lovely enclosed dog walking fields one, which is a little hilly, is huge with beautiful views. Friday and Monday see Simon and Linda whipping up fish n chips from a small catering caravan set in a little quarry behind the 'Lime Kiln' which we opted for, absolutely lovely - share a portion of chips, they're huge! No tartare sauce though which was a shame.
Shower block is amazing with push button showers that seem to go on for ages and tonnes of hot water. The WC's and showers are separate as are the basins so it's a shower in one block and then pop next door for a shave, no big deal and this does keep the showers less congested. The grounds are equally pristine with an amazing children's park that is more reminiscent of a theme park with loads of great activities including a fort.
Being very close to the English Riviera and Dartmouth make this a perfect base with Dartmoor 20 minutes drive, what more could you ask for. For us, one of the real attractions is how lovely and peaceful the site is you wouldn't think you were only 800 yards from the main road; couldn't hear a thing!
Thank you to all of a lovely stay - we will be back!
