We spent a 4 night break here in our motorhome and on arrival we received a warm welcome, site map and access code for the barrier.
Our pitch was level hard standing, spacious and with ehu. There were some pitches on a slope, but we couldn't tell if these were being stored or in use. It's a big site but there is plenty of room between pitches.
The toilets and showers were spotless and the showers were free and lovely and warm.
A bit of a hike to and from the town centre but there is a bus stop right outside the site so we took the bus down to Whitby one day and to Robin Hood's Bay another to give us a break from all that walking! The path from the site to town along the cliffs is grand - even in a howling gale!
Will be visiting there again next year for sure.

Just spent two weeks at this site and I would really recommend it. Very quiet and peaceful site that has all the bases covered.
Toilet facilities are all that we needed, nothing spectacular but everything worked with plenty of hot water and no queues for the showers.
Staff were efficient and site seemed well managed with everyone following site rules, no unruly kids/loud music etc. Dog walking area ideal, playing field for kids and a tennis court which our kids loved for something a bit different.
Lovely 5 minute walk down gently sloping hill to beach that is easy for a pushchair (dogs allowed on that section of beach and all the way along to Whitby main beach).
Lovely walks to Whitby and Sandsend and you aren't far from Robin Hoods Bay/ Staithes / Runswick which are great for rockpooling.
Most pitches have sea views and are level with plenty of space for an awning and a car.
However, it is a bit exposed so if you do have an awning you need to strap it down well, three awnings blew down during our stay.
Fish and Chip van comes on Friday and Sunday evening, but there are plenty of takeaways only two minutes from site. Costcutter/Lidl/Spar/Esso only two mins drive away.
Would definitely go again due to easy access to beach and Whitby and tranquillity of site.

Excellent place this the owners are very helpful and friendly, I will be back. The only snag, my sat nav was a bit out, when entering Whitby turn left at the garage near the roundabout as I went down a narrow windy road, and the nav said destination on the left ? So I kept going and came out on the Sandsend road - so I turned right and I was right on it. Near bus stop to Whitby, walkway to the Cleveland way
Coded barrier for security and code changed on a regular basis. Electric points on all the pitches bar one (ours) number 40 but they hooked us up to a point 20 feet away so no problem

This is a good site close to the beach 5-10 mins with a lovely walk into Whitby town with all it's charm or the other way down to Sandsend this is ideal for kids.
There are a few shops and cafe's etc. On site there is a dog walking area, Tennis court and a couple of toilet blocks which I feel could do with a re-furb!.
An ice cream van turns up now and again as does the fish&chip van.
The site is quiet with good views towards the sea and a golf links opposite.
There are some good pubs serving great food (and beer)around.
I would use this site again next time we are touring in this area.

Have just returned from a one week stay at this site and have a number of comments that may be helpful to others wishing to use the facility.
Plus Points
1. Well kept grass areas and hardstandings.
2. Plenty of water and grey waste disposal areas
3. Easy to find as the site is just outside Whitby on the A174
4. Great location with good sea views and in a quiet area
5. Plentiful supply of free hot water in showers / sinks / washing up and laundry areas
6. Shops, pubs and take-aways within a very short distance of the site
7. Just a 20 minute walk along the seafront (or beach if the tide is out) to either Sandsend village or Whitby town centre.
Negative points
1. The mains 10A supply trip switch is not accessible so any problem after 7PM will not be rectified until after 9AM (unless there is an unused supply close to your pitch)
2. Grey water and fresh water areas are located side-by-side and are not well identified. It was possible for the dirty water to run into the clean area.
3. It was necessary to use a levelling ramp even on the hardstanding.
4. Very poor TV reception with a standard caravan set-up. Take and external aerial or satellite dish
5. The main toilet area and showers were always very scruffy and only seemed to get the absolute minimum of cleaning. The shower partitions were particularly grubby.
6. The staff seemed to be non-existent as we never saw anyone other than the grass cutter.
I'm not sure when this site was last reviewed but at the moment it is certainly not the 5 star site it is advertised to be, imo.
Although the site has its faults, it is still a site I would go back to simply for the location.

We booked this site expecting it only to have 50 pitches. It has over 200. 150 of them are seasonal and thank goodness we were not there in peak or I think it would have been unbearable.
Site well kept but far too many caravans for the size of the site and if you are trying to use the toilets and showers after 8. 30am you will see why I say this and the majority of residents were not there during my stay.
Owners are very nice and keep and run it well keeping it neat and tidy, pity the staff didn't have the same attitude. On arrival they put us on the worst pitch possible for a twin axle caravan and when we pointed this out and asked how would we get van off the site (due to the way the caravans are pitched there is no room to manoeuvre) we were told use a motor mover. Our van is not fitted with one!
The 3 other sites that were free beside us were booked so we couldn't go on to those! Other caravanners helped us move van off site the day before we left after talking to owner it was decided to move as rain was forecast and it would have been impossible and dangerous to move on wet grass.
Walking distance to beach down path beside golf course.
Good location to Whitby but I won't be back

Just got back from sandfield house, had three night stay during whit week,
Really enjoyed the site, good free showers very clean, seems to be more sited tourers there but not a problem,
Nice walk down to beach and nice walk into whitby our dog enjoyed playing in the rock pools,
There is also a pub just 10 mins walk from site and there beer garden joins up to the golf course,
Its also dog friendly, didn't see any children's play area but they have got a field set aside with goal post's,
Would definitely go back to this site when we do a return trip to whitby

4th year we have stayed here for the May bank hols, great site, can get a bit windy as it's very open. Loos very clean and we had hot showers at all time. Very nice staff. Easy walk into Whitby ( 20mins ) Bus stop at end of drive. The Hart in Sandsend is a MUST for Sunday dinner, but get their by 11.45am Large field for kids to kick a ball around, we had a game of rounders. Dog walk just off site and a path down to the beach.

This site is ace, a good walk to whitby on the beach front but do-able in 40 mins,
Friendly well run site with good security and good shower block - toilets, dog field for the doggie people !
Overall a good site with good views of the coast line and the golf course.
We have been about 3 times now and will be going back later in the year.
Prices for this year have gone up.

Great veiws, but counted 200plus seasonal pitchs allusing 18 showers so had to for a shower either late at night or first thing in morning,
shower blocks ok but not what we are used to. Talking to some of the seasonal people the older toilet block has not been updated for over 20years.Wardens hard to find.
This, in our opinion, is not a 5 star sites, we rate it at 2. Ok for a short break, no longer. Top price for what you get
