What a lovely site. Clean well looked after and a very reasonable price. The staff were friendly, polite and helpful. A great site for family's and older couples. We will definitely visit again. It is a gorgeous walk along the promenade to Whitby and thankfully all very dog friendly.

This site is very well situated for Whitby and the surrounding villages in the N.Yorks Moors - it is great if you are a dog owner as when we were there (out of school holidays) we had the use of 3 fields to let the dogs run off lead. Also, dogs were allowed on the beach in both directions (Whitby - Sandsend) until you see the warning markers nearer the two towns (Whitby near the Beach Huts / Sandsend has a big 'No Dogs' sign on the sea wall). The nearness of the beech has to be a big positive for families (do not know if dogs are barred during the school holiday's though?).
The Wardens are very friendly and are not the sort to be always hovering over people. The site was kept very clean and again, out of season, was very quiet.
I would not say that this is a 5 star site - the toilet block needs updating and expanding for the number of units on site (there are 50 touring pitches but it also has 100 + long-stay units). The area reserved for the 50 Tourers felt cramped, and is prone to bad drainage (tested thoroughly during the rains of the last few weeks). Two pitches in particular flooded easily and three times we saw different people moved off the flooded pitches? There was also a few signs of lack of investment in that little things were left un-repaired - outside taps hanging loosely off their mounting; shower unit pegs likewise; toilet window catches broken. This gives a feeling of neglect and may be the result of the owner being too distant from his possesion (we were told that he lives in spain and has to OK all money issues).
We enjoyed our stay, mostly because of the ease of walking the dogs. One last thing - chippy near Costcutters - awful.

As has been said before the site owners are most pleasant and helpful, actually make you feel wanted which isn't always the case. Facilities kept very clean with one modern and one smaller older block, the latter being somewhat dated but still very usable. Lovely sea front walks only minutes away, shops and take away 10 minutes walk as is a nice pub. No motorhome waste disposal facilities but nevertheless a pleasant site which I'm sure will not disappoint.

A great site, with a fantastic welcome from both the Reception staff and Warden; both of whom ran through the facilities with us. The toilet and shower block was fantastic, free hot showers are a bonus on any site! The view was spoiled by the overcast weather, but the sea can be seen by most vans; but the seasonal vans have the best pitches. The site seems to be mostly seasonal vans, with the tourers scattered here and there; but everyone is friendly enough, and the site is quiet and clean. The beach is a short walk away, and Whitby can be reached along the coastal walk. The area is fantastic, plenty to do and see; but some of the local hills are very steep, with a very good tow car needed to get up some of them. Would I go again? Oh yes, but I would hope for better weather!

What a great site. Everything you could wish for. The people running this site are most helpful and made our stay very enjoyable. Its cleanliness cannot be faulted and the facilities exceptional. Unlike some sites they do not charge for the little extras that make a site a pleasure to visit. I cannot praise them enough. We will definitely be returning

At the time of our visit the site was not allowing vehicles on the grass due to the recent wet weather. The site has a mix of well serviced hard-standings which are level with new gravel, and traditional grass pitches for tourers. There is no kids area but the beach is nearby, the showers & toilets are free well equipped and very clean. The site is given over 100+ plots let to tourers for the season, whilst this is generally not an issue but it does create a bit of a territorial atmosphere. That said the site is in a prime location for the town of Whitby being only a short walk along the promenade or in the opposite direction to Sandsend. The golf club a couple of hundred yards away is open for meals and the Hart Inn in Sandsend serves meals as well as a couple of cafes serving snacks. Whitby has a many eateries many of which are not dog friendly, the Shepherds Purse being a recommendation. I would definitely visit again.

Have just returned home from this site, This was one of the very few sites we have been to that on arrival at our pitch I thought "I really like this site" and I wasnn't wrong it is close enough to Whitby to walk in, recommend Duke of York for superb meals at the bottom of 199 steps. Walk to Sandsend also very nice try the walk up the cliff onto Cleveland Way.
Although I really liked the site hubby was a bit dissapointed with men's shower block : one toilet broken and one not flushing, he used block as you drove in all week. Laundrette really good spin dryer free drier 20p had my own iron so used that. Thinking of going to north yorkshire stay here be hard to find any better. Well done sandfield!

July 2005 What a beautiful site. This is truly one of the nicest sites I have ever been to. The lady at reception was very welcoming, the warden very helpful and the view from our camper was breathtaking(sea views). Toilets very clean. We could only stay here for one night as they were fully booked, you only have to visit once to see why. Shame we only had one night here I would have liked to have stayed forever.

June 2005 Can't praise this site enough. Just as described in the earlier reviews. Very clean and tidy, very quiet even though a main road is not far away. Lovely walks to Whitby and Sandsend and the nearest pub(hotel)which also has a restaurant and serves a decent pint of John Smiths is only a 10 minute walk away. We'll definitly be going back.

October 2004 Having just returned from a quiet weekend away at this site (03/10/04) I will certainly be booking for another stay. The site was spotless, the showers hot and even a hairdrier for you to use afterwards, the toilets clean and fresh smelling at all times, dishwashing facilities along with laundry rooms, nappy changing room, telephone and chemical points under the one roof. Although the site is on a slope it is not a problem and the wardens (who were waiting for me to arrive as I was running late) were there to show to me to my pitch and directed me onto the hardstanding. Many thanks. It is a small site in size and very quiet even though it was full. The dogs were welcomed and had a good field to exercise on along with a beach that not only allowed them, but which stretched for a couple of miles or so to Sandsend and Whitby. A few rocks on there to keep the youngster and myself amused climbing too. I look forward to next season and a return to what is a great site in a even greater county. By the way i'm a tyke so i'm biased .
