We are going again this month, the old toilet and shower block is very clean and always has soap and loo roll. They have just built a new toilet and shower block as you first drive in, and that is lovely too, built to match existing buildings. They have a chip van visit the site on Thursday evenings, dogs are allowed but must be on leads on the site. The pitches are quite spacious and mostly level. All pitches have a sea view and 27 pounds a night is quite good as I have paid more in Derbyshire. The showers are free and its only a short walk into whitby via the sea front. It has some great shops and restaurants. You can have a boat ride or go on the steam bus, nothing is really expensive. I recommend the whistling kettle cafe near wetherspoons if you like a massive cheap breakfast. We have been in many cafes etc and all have been very good. I also recommend the jolly sailor pub on the harbour front. We always make friends and have a good time in there, a proper old locals pub. The ale is the best I have tasted and you get change from 4 quid having ordered 2 pints. Overall the site is clean, staff are very good, after 12 visits I cant complain once about anything, The surrounding areas offer good food and drink and lots of things to do to suit everyone. I will continue to go there at least twice a year even though in march my gearbox went on the moors and we were stuck. But the new car should be ok. I recommend to anyone the site and area for a really good holiday whatever your taste

Just got back from Sandfield and we found it to be a fabulous location to get into Whitby centre and down to the beach. We arrived after 6 o clock and our envelope was left on the reception door as promised. This had all the info we needed to get settled in as well as some useful numbers for local taxi firms, good places to eat etc. Very helpful.
There are shops within 10 mins walking distance.
The toilets/showers were great and cleaned regularly. The pot washing area was also fine. The only thing I would say is that we felt a bit like we had to creep around in the evening (from as early as nine o clock), as the site got very quiet then. We kept finding ourselves whispering! There were lots of families on the site and it was a relief to hear some kids having a laugh and make a bit of noise! Also a slight obsession with lawn mowing on the site. We would definitely come back here as the facilities were great and the site is in an excellent position to explore the area.

This site is a good location for sightseeing and walking into whitby. Good toilets and showers and waste and water points. Booking on was easy and receptionist was friendly and helpful. Their is two side to the site a flat side and the hillside on which we stayed some of the plots was very sloppy and needed lots of work to get van level we were lucky and got a good plot but higher you went worse it got but next visit the other side will be asked for. The walk to the beach is about 10mins over a golf course but well worth it. You can pick your plot online so nearer the road the better.

We've used this site twice as our first experience was so good. The pitch we got was great, nice and flat with a sea view. The toilet block was almost new, showers hot and extremely clean. The staff were very friendly and when we forgot our hook up cable they loaned us one happily. A few minutes walk to the pub over the road where the food is great, a mile along the cliff road to Whitby and a mile in the other direction to sandsend which was a nice change from busy Whitby. Unreservedly recommended

Stayed here for 2 nights. Friendly staff on arrival, Location is perfect lovely views 5 mins walk to the beach 25 mins to the centre of Whitby 10 minutes to the pub which has great views from the beer garden and a further 5 minutes from the pub to the shops which has all you need newspapers, take away, etc. The shower blocks are basic and one new block is unfinished. Facilities on site are minimal but that's all you need anyway. Even though this is a family site it was quiet I would come back again but for longer next time.

We arrived at around 19:00 on a Friday evening by which time the office was shut but they'd warned us that there would be an envelope pinned to the office door and there was with instructions to open the main gate and also where our pitch was located.
We drove straight up to the pitch and got set up which was a little more interesting because the ground to the side of the gravel standing for the caravan wasn't flat or level and so our awning was a bit of a problem to set up. However, we got it set up well enough to manage for the 2 nights we would be there.
The pitch was fairly in the middle of the site but had a lovely sea view which was very relaxing. There was a warning in the paperwork that if we exceeded the 10A loading on the electric hook-up then we might be without power for the rest of the evening!
The toilet and shower blocks were perfectly adequate and seemed clean the few times we visited. There is a motorhome waste point as well as chemical toilet disposal near the main toilet block. In terms of water - there are taps fairly regularly spread around the site so that wasn't a problem.
We walked down to the beach which was a fairly steep slope but the beach was lovely and we could see Whitby in the distance and if the weather had been nicer the next day we would have walked to Whitby but as it was - rain was forecast for a lot of the Saturday.
There are a few supermarkets and a couple of take-aways near to the site and they're probably only a couple of minutes by car but are probably a 10 minute walk.
Overall, it was a good site and if we can get a more level pitch next time we will definitely be back.

The site is about 1 1/2 miles from the centre of Whitby, with a half hourly bus service from the site entrance.
The facilities on site consist of two toilet/shower blocks, of which one is still to be finished off ie. tiling and flooring, but as new as it is, it does still lack basics such as hooks and heating.
The view from the site is great and it's convenience for Whitby make it worth a stay.
I would stay at this site again.

Although the site was nice, facilities good and location ideal, we were troubled by being pitched in a row behind seasonal pitchers who showed little respect for site rules and neighbours. We picked the site for a peaceful 3 night break but instead were treated to long periods of lawn mower use, loud and lengthy conversations, dogs allowed to soil the pitches. It was as if the seasonal pitchers were better than anyone else. The site would be better off having a designated touring area where the rules and decency would be upheld by tourers. On a good note we found the Landlord of the local pub 'The Hart' welcoming and cheerful.

Another great holiday at Sandfield. There is a new shower block and toilets, but we used the old ones though they are a bit dated, they are spotless and lovely and warm. The location of the park is ideal. 10 to 15 min walk to Whitby centre or less than 5 min in car. Can't wait to go back. Just one little complaint though, when we were leaving on the Saturday morning about 10. 15am even though we didn't have to leave until 11. 30am, a couple who were on another pitch decided they were having ours, but rather than wait until we had gone they starting to bring there chairs and other things over and put them at the side of our van !. Bit cheeky that. Fab holiday even with the gale force winds on the Wednesday night.

This is a great site, helped by the sunny weather of course. We got a very friendly reception when we arrived and were shown to our site where we had views of the sea (as promised). Toilet facilities were clean and my friend was very pleased about the provision of a hairdryer! Pitches are spacious and it wasn't too far to the water tap. There is a large dog walking area where my little dog found some biscuits, so he was very happy. It's a lovely walk into Whitby from the site.
