Spent 5 nights at this site, superb location 20 min walk to town, good pub 5 mins away good food and service. Large site but limited touring pitches due to number of sited seasonal vans. Reception helpful but wont take card payments so go prepared with cash or cheque. Only complaint was the temperature and pressure of water in showers, needs updating. Otherwise a very pleasant location especially if you enjoy walking the coastal paths.

This has to be my favourite site of all time,
50 mins from home and the owners and staff are always very friendly and will help you how ever they can, late arrivals don't worry as you will have a map to your pitch and anyone on the site will help you if you have problem.
Good football pitch with new goal for kids and also a tennis court!
Nice dog walk area and you can walk into Whitby in less than 15 mins.
If you want a takeaway there are a Chinses and a pizza, parmo, and kebab house less than a mile away.
Showers and toilets are old but always clean and usable.
Will be back soon. Really is a lovely site.

This Site is on the outskirts of Whitby. Receptionist is very nice & welcoming, they re-freeze ice blocks & re-charge battery if needed.
Although this is a very nice site & good location I don't know which year it received the 5 star award! as it requires a severe upgrade in the toilet block, hot water taps stick and if left goes straight down the drain which resulted in cold showers in the morning, also nowhere to lay clothes while in shower, free hairdryer but it has no power to dry hair. No shop on site but Lidl or Costcutter is close by also a Chinese or Pizza takeaway.
20 minute walk to town, there is lovely walk along the promenade or use the main road (may want 2 take a torch for walking late at night). A bus stops every half hour at bottom of campsite road. White Horse Inn is a 5minute walk, food is excellent but do book in advance for a sea view. Plenty to do in Whitby, amusements, boat trips, pubs & lots of fish & chip shops! Dracula Experience is not worth visiting. Goathland where Heartbeat was filmed is well worth a visit.

As others have pointed out this is a much larger site than expected, and there are a lot of seasonal pitches. However, the location is fantastic. You literally cross the road, and follow the path down to the beach. You can walk into Whitby in 20 minutes. If you walk to the very end of the beach, you can enter the promenade by a ramp. It is, therefore, a suitable walk for those who need the flat or those with prams.
The showers are dated but clean. However, the tiles are very slippy, so much so that I slipped exiting the shower.
A spin drier was stolen along with other things as I understand it. They are, however, about to fit CCTV. They were also having problems with the electricity when we visited. They were having to use generators so they were unable to use the security gates. Also we ended up with no electricity one night.
Don't let this put you off, as I say they are addressing the problems. We will certainly go again.

Just returned from a lovely week at this site. We had good weather and the site is in an ideal location. Very close to lovely Whitby and very close to a lovely stretch of dog friendly beach. The grass is well kept and the site litter free. The dog walking field is ideal as it is gated so you can let pooch run free. A fish and chip van called twice during our week at the site and an ice cream van called most days at around 5pm.
Now for the bad points. This site has around 200 touring caravans not 50! Most of the vans are seasonal. We were really disappointed to find this was a large site and not a small one as we had expected.
The pitches are also very close together and in regimented straight lines, without hedges or anything to give privacy. By the time there were caravan / awning / car the space between pitches was no more than 4 feet - definitely not the sort of space we are used to.
The 2 toilet and shower blocks were very tired and to my mind not as clean as they could be - shower curtains stunk. The water was lovely and hot though and the showers I used were powerful.
We have had a lovely week away but we wouldn't use this site again even though the location is good - we would rather be a little further out on a small site.

Had a good week at this site only because the weather was nice, as previously stated if it's really bad weather you are open to the elements.
Personally I would have preferred a bit more privacy you do seem to be quite close together and there are far more than 50 pitches. We did like the barrier system as this prevents people driving around the site.
Clean showers with hot water and clean toilets, washing machines now cost £3 and dryers £1, we did see a spinner in the laundry room but this disappeared half way through the week. The site is ideal for walking into Whitby or Sandsend along the beach. Beach is a short walk which is also dog friendly.
There is a Costcutter and Lidl within a couple minutes drive.
The White House Pub is also only 5-10 mins walk from the site next to the golf course, its child/dog friendly and the staff are very welcoming. The pub can be seen from the campsite looking towards Whitby.
Overall I think we would go back but if we couldn't find a smaller site close by.

This site has a fantastic location overlooking the sea and with a reasonably short walk along the promenade (about 1 mile) to Whitby itself. We had great weather when we were there but I could imagine that during wilder weather you might have to batten down the hatches a bit! Don't let that put you off.
The pitches, as described by others are a wee bit regimented, but because they are lined up on a slight slope I didn't find it particularly intrusive and they were neatly kept.
I disagree with some of the comments about the toilet block though. It was ok, but not 'spotless' in my opinion and was a little bit grubby in parts. Also the water for both showering and dish-washing was warm, not hot.
Staff were very friendly and the charge compared to some other sites was pretty good at £31 for 2 nights.

This is not a 50 pitch site, it is nearer 200.
We have had a nice weekend, the site was busy but not noisy. School holidays could be very different, however they do have a field for children to play which is always a good thing.
We would go back as the location is great.
Other reviewers have covered the facilities and dog walk ect. We felt the toilets and showers were ok but nothing else. Not to the standard we are used to at a caravan club site which we mainly use.
I personally do not like sites where they have seasonal pitches, this was no different.

Lovely site, fantastic sea views, spotless clean toilets, ideally situated for seniors, walk into Whitby or Sandsend, bus pass back.
Friendly staff, all local shops close by.
Seasonal pitches also but long waiting list
Or else we would be on in a flash!
If your looking for a quiet, well kept site this is it.
The walk along the seafront into Whitby is flat until you reach the Pavillion but you can take the seafront lift (60p) to the top and then walk down onto the Quay side landing area.

The best thing about the site is its location right on the very edge of Whitby. Site is in two sections one lower field which is flat then a higher field behind which is slightly sloping- but pitches are levelled hardcore.
There is a sea view and a nice beach 5 - 10 mins pleasant walk away. The beach is used by dog walkers if this is an issue for you. Down the same path, the promenade starts which takes you to Whitby along the seafront.
The local shops are only a few minutes away. The costcutter store has excellent fresh locally grown salad and veg. There is no shop on site but gas and toilet cleaner products are available.
We had no problem accessing the toilets and showers. There are two blocks. There was an issue with the floor in one of the blocks which seemed to become very wet and slippy at times. There also seems to be a problem with inadequate flushes on some of the toilets. There are free hairdryers. Laundry and dishwashing facilities are available £2.00 for washing machine and 20p for dryers.
The caravans are sited in a rather regimented way in rows with no hedges or screening at all. We only stayed for 5 nights so we were out most days but we felt the layout was not conducive to sitting out for any length of time.
There is a playing field and tennis court but no play equipment which meant our kids tended to play around the caravans which could become a problem, this was the only time they didn't make any friends as there didn't seem to be a meeting place for them.
