Very helpful and welcoming site management. Immaculate site and very good facilities. Shower block was very clean and in good working order (when you realised the showers were free and a button needed to be pressed - might have been good to have some instructions for us dumbos - but not really a criticism). Great views of the sea but not in the slightest bit precarious. Nice level pitches and great access and an easy walk into Whitby (although we cheated and got a taxi back). Will definitely be coming back for more!

Recommended for location - walking distance to beach (only exists at low tide) and Whitby town centre (15 mins). Otherwise the site is ok, but nothing special. Newly built facilities have bare concrete floors and those annoying press button showers. Cubicles don't have separate dressing area or much in the way of hooks. This was the most expensive site we stayed on during a recent 3 week trip from Somerset to Inverness at £20 per night for 2 adults plus motorhome.

A jewel of a campsite
We arrived with 5 other touring caravans for the October Goth Weekend. Large site with hardstanding. We all got a pitch with a wonderful seaview.
Just across the road is a walk to a sandy beach which takes you into whitby harbour or you can walk from the site along the coastline to whitby.
Toilet shower blocks ok but I think they are being updated for 2013.
Only a couple of minor niggles the pitches are a bit close if you are going to put an awning up and we also had to pay a £1 per night for our dog. (Never had to pay for my dog before on any sites).
Would definitely go back next year.

We stayed at Sandfield House Farm for three days in September, what a beautiful site, spotlessly clean toilets and showers, loads of hot water, on arrival we were greeted with a kind word and a smile, shown to our pitch and even given a hand to place our van.
Plenty to see and do, Whitby is a must for bargain shopping, and the fish and chips are magic. Beware of shopping for Whitby Jet, the prices in the shops vary wildly and it all seems to be very expensive.
The trip over the Yorkshire Moors is something to behold, the beauty is stunning. This is a peaceful and very clean site, helpful staff and outstanding views from your pitch, would we go back, yes ASAP, would we recommend this site, yes, you might have to travel some distance to find another as good.

A well organised clean site. Toilet block clean also though grass a usual problem owing to grass cutting. Site very peaceful (in September) and well placed for Whitby and other tourist places further up the coast. Bus stop adjacent to site entrance with regular service along the coast to Middlesborough in the North and Whitby to the South. Only a small proportion of this large site is used for tourers.

Spent 2 weeks on this site, it is in a very good area with sea views from most pitches overlooking the golf course, the main Whitby to Sandsend road runs along in front of the site with a bus stop right outside the entrance. The site itself is quite large but it would appear that only about 20% of the pitches are true tourers the rest are seasonal residents, this is evident by the way they maintain their own pitch. The people are friendly and helpful, and stay on site, it is generally very quiet and relaxing.
The toilet/shower blocks are situated by the entrance and another in the centre of the site, these can become very messy when the weather is wet with grass because the mown grass is not collected so gets walked in. Both blocks need some upgrading/maintenance as there were some tiles missing in the showers, toilet cisterns loose from the walls and shower doors that did not open/close. The blocks are closed once a day for cleaning but this is not to a good standard, this is the only thing that lets this otherwise very good site down.
Local shops, takeaways and Whitby all within easy walking distance, making it perfect to park the car and explore, North Yorks Moors Railway goes from the town to Pickering for a day out. Whitby can be very busy at peak times so best leave the car behind.

Reviewers -mature couple with campervan and bikes.
When I rang up the day before to book, the pleasant man on the phone said they were fully booked, but we were welcome to use a late arrivals pitch for the 2 nights we wanted, he explained it was a hard standing area. We willingly agreed to this.
The site is easy to find from the instructions on here. It is situated just outside the lovely town of Whitby, high above the sea, so you get sea views from many pitches. The pitches rise away from the front of the site, but appear to be flat. The site is set back from a main road which can be busy during the day, but quieter at night.
The pitch we were allocated was just past reception, on a car parking overflow area, but the pitches there are marked out and have EHU. It suited us fine, there was plenty of room to sit out at the side of the van.
We didn't walk round the rest of the site as it was completely full, my impression was of regimented rows of vans, but everyone was very friendly.
There are 2 sanitary blocks. The one near reception is older, but clean and functional. The other one is more modern, and has soap, hairdryers, hand dryers, very well appointed. The showers are controlled by the old coin box, now they are free but you need to press the button to get hot water. 1 press was just enough for a shower, hair washing took a second press. Washing up is in a separate room and has nice hot water.
If you walk across the road from the site and down the road a short way you pick up a path which takes you down to the beach. You can walk into Whitby along a promenade, or along the beach the other way.
Walking back towards town from the site you can find a Lidl and a garage with a shop.
Saw a tennis court on the site, and areas for children to play and dogs exercised, but no playground.
The price was moderately expensive, but probably what you should expect in August.

This is an excellent site for many reasons! I would happily return here on my next visit to Whitby.
The site is large (2 fields), open (no dividing hedges between pitches) and an well maintained (clean facilities, recently painted buildings, good signage). Unfortunately there is no playground for younger children, but there is a free tennis court. The office holds some essential supplies, but lots of shops and supermarkets close by, so nobody needs to go hungry.
Fantastic access to one of the best beaches in the country, and just a pleasant stoll along the prom into the centre of Whitby!
The friendly, welcoming wardens can't do enough to help!
We were told that the 10 Amp electrics could trip, but no problems and our new caravan is kitted up with all the latest power happy equipment.
The site is very easy to find, just on the outskirts of Whitby. The excellent signage on the approach road means that you couldn't miss the entrance from either direction, and I am well known in my family for doing the 'Fly-By'!
Any areas for improvement. The site could consider upgrading the toilet/shower block. It was spotlessly clean, but it looks a bit dated.

We have just returned from our 4th stay at sandfield house the pitches are great and shower/toilet block is good.
The dog walk area is very good all fenced in so you can let your dogs off the leads with no worries.
The walks into whitby are excellent if you can walk down hills but not very good going back up there is a lift with a small charge at west cliff.
The local shops are well stocked and only two minutes by car from the site.
The only thing that I would change about the site is the arrival times you have to be off the site by 11am which is very good but the next people coming on are also allowed on at 11am giving not one moments overlap time so the next people moving onto our pitch were shown on at 10-45am they parked right next to us got out of their car stood watching us pack our belongings away for the next 15 minutes making us feel very uncomfortable we think that the coming on time should be 12 o'clock this would also give the man cutting the grass time to cut where the van stood.
But we had a fantastic time we will be back next year and if we win the lottery we will buy a big house on west cliff

This was our 2nd visit to this park. Really friendly staff, nice and clean hot showers and toilets, perhaps not the most modern.
Lovely view of the sea and only a 10 to 15 mins walk to the gorgeous Whitby. Just 2 mins in the car down the road is a little supermarket and takeaway (though we never used the takeaway) and just five mins by car into whitby for the best fish and chips ever.
Can't wait to return very soon.
