My husband visited this site 26 years ago as a young boy and had very fond memories so we decided to visit again with our children.
We stayed at the Heath for a week with our two girls aged 9 and 5. The site is ideal for children, loads to do, plenty of open space.
We hired bikes for the girls, £7 for a full day, they loved the bike trail through the woods.
Pool was very cooling on a hot summers day!
Toilets and showers were cleaned twice a day and modern, also a bath which was an advantage with young children.
We visited the pub on the Tuesday and Friday night for the children's disco, the entertainer was excellent keeping the children very happy.
Staff throughout the site were very polite and helpful.
Lovely site would definitely return.

Stayed at this site several times for long and short breaks and would thoroughly recommend it.
It is the only site we have stayed where they have a bath for the little ones.
The pitches are very spacious and for a family Cedar field is excellent with the whole of the centre given over for play.
Great pub serving Woodfordes Wherry and good food on site, together with fresh bread and Pizzas to order.
One of the best sites we have stayed.
My only slight moan would be that you have to use the car for about everything because it's a bit far from anywhere.
Very close to Holt and Sherringham.
Will definitely visit again and would recommend.

Visited here from 17 July for one week with my 12 year old son. Lovely site. Really well laid out. Out pitch was on Orchard which was ideally located for all amenities, sports etc but was quite private as set back by trees though certainly not cut off from others. The food served in both the pub and coffee shop was excellent and the staff were really polite and efficient.
Great location for visiting the Broads. Hired bikes for 2 days which was great (apart from getting caught in a thunder storm at How Hill and still having to get back!) and the routes we were given were good.
The showers etc were good and really clean. The only thing is that I would think now the main hols have started there would be queues and in the block near us,all the wash basins were in the (3 female or 3 male)toilet cubicles so even if you just wanted to brush your teeth etc, you had to potentially queue while others in the toilet - then brush your teeth in the same cubicle! The mirrors and hairdryers were in the main entrance area to the whole block so felt in the way and on view!
Having said that not all blocks were laid out the same so you could get round all the above if these were real issues - more just niggles in busy periods when (looking at it the other way round) you had to queue for the toilet because someone brushing teeth!
Would not let this put me off going though and would definitely recommend this site

Spent 11 nights on Cedar Lawn, a perfect area if you have children as the huge pitches are set around a lovely grassy area, superb for playing on.
Very friendly, knowledgeable staff who were always willing to help with enquiries about places to visit, cycle routes(we had our own bikes), eateries. Site is really well laid out with various different areas so never too big or noisy. Fresh bread daily(best to order), wee shop with plenty of provisions, laundry which was reasonably priced at £2 for a wash load and 50p for dryers.
Muskett Arms on site pub was very welcoming, we ate one night and they baked some fish for my coeliac husband as they felt that was the best way to be sure to give him something suitable. There's a small swimming pool but it's only open until 5pm which is a shame on hot sunny evenings. Crazy golf and cafe too.
Toilet facilities were very clean and although initially I thought there weren't many I never actually had to wait for a shower throughout our stay. There is also a family room with a bath which must be great if you have younger kids. Loads of hot water for all washing, plenty of taps near pitches although maybe they could do with being more obvious - we had one in the trees behind our tent but we kept having to show other people as they wandered off looking for taps!
The area is superb for cycling, quiet lanes, courteous drivers and Clippesby gave us wee route plans for trips. A nice cycle is the couple of miles to Thurne where there is a lovely windmill and the Lion Inn, perfect for a pint before dinner. How Hill is alonger cycle (about 15miles) but alovely trip with a picnic. We hired aboat at Wroxham and enjoyed 4 hours on the broads which really allows you to see the waterside at their best. Great beaches within about 1/2 hour drive are Caister & Mundesley.
A great few hours was spent at Extreeme Adventure - a high ropes course of 20 and 40ft with 1000ft zipe wire and optional extra! It's about an hours drive from Clippesby but well worth it. It has a height restriction.
We also had a lovely meal at the Bridge Inn at Acle, which has a special menu for Coeliacs.
Clippesy is a great place for a holiday, we had several days where we never left the site, jst enjoyed the pool and wandering the grounds.
A previous review mentioned the birds. Peacocks wander around which is lovely but the noise from them at night takes a wee bit of getting used to - they sound like cats being strangled! However they were there before us - it certainly didn't spoil our trip. And of course children love them!

After spending a week camping on one of the Pinewoods pitches I can only give positive feedback, the setting is idyllic for anyone wanting a secluded area. The campsite is kept in excellent condition and all the facilities were always clean and tidy.
I must also give praise to the ' Musket Arms' where I enjoyed two excellent meals served by a polite and friendly staff.
If I had to give any negative feedback the only suggestion I could make is that more shower and toilet blocks may be an advantage.

Very nice site. We arrived on the first very hot weekend of the year.
The site is split into several wooded glades, some with sun all day, some no dogs etc, the site was almost full so the facilities were very well used.
The shower block was cleaned twice a day, although, there were a lot of families on site, we think on busy weekends a third clean would be advisable.
We hired bikes from the site office (2 for £24 all day) which was a very good way to get around, they were brand new mountain bikes. There is a coffee shop and food shop on site which sold really nice local produce. The food in the on site pub, the Muskett Arms, was excellent and the pub has free WiFi.

We (my parents, husband and 2 1/2 year old daughter) stayed at Clippesby in a large 7 berth Outwell tent for 6 nights, pitch 71 in South Park - and it was perfect! large enough as the tent is pretty big, close enough to reception/shop/cafe and also the playground and washing facilities. Nice central area.
This is our third camping trip and first with this tent and we would definitely say we would go back but (because of the distance - 3hrs) we would like to try other counties.
When you arrive you pop into reception, they then advise that a black landrover will come to the carpark and direct you to the pitch, had a short wait but service! well.
The areas are well spaced as are the pitches.
Our airbed pump stopped with another bed to do, and reception were happy enough to plug it in for a few hours to charge for me. I also heard that the pub will charge your mobiles for you too.
The site has: grass tennis area, badminton area, 18 hole crazy golf, cafe (great hot choc!), homely pub with great food & TV (World cup was still on.) adventure play area with two zipwires and one toddler zip wire which our daughter loved. Swings, sand pit, football area. 3 shower blocks, which are kept very clean and have a bucket and mop available if someone has left the floor a bit mucky. I personally felt that the toilets, showers and family bathroom were very good with fine temp of water and not too small at all. The bath hot tap is so fast you can run a bath and wash and be out in no time.
There are kitchen washing facilities with deep sinks and nice hot water.
Area with payable laundry available and a large freezer for your ice blocks to be kept frozen free.
Nice little shop which stocks most things, apart from cigarettes which unfortunately my husband buys, so we had to remember to get them while out. Also withdrawing money was an issue, we had to get it at local post offices. (Nearest towns we found were Thrigby and Potter Heigham)
When you get your welcome pack you will notice you have a bread order form which we didn't use as out most of the time, but great as shop does sell out.
BeWILDerwood was amazing and even with a 2 year old we didn't feel it was a waste as we got to go on everything with her ! hee hee
Thrigby Hall Wildlife was very good.
Will be recommending the site to family and friends! x
Few niggles. Pigeons are so noisy and flap around the trees a lot, late evening and early morning. Not sure if it's just the time of year. Did hear the peacocks a few times but didn't seem to bother us in South Park. Hard to push pushchair across car park as stoney. Shop closes quite early. Tiny black fly/bug things that land on you and tickle/itch which seem to be everywhere in Norfolk not just Clippesby.

This site was booked as a group booking for 8 families all in tents. We booked The Heath which was great we felt like we had our own private campsite.
The facilities are amazing parks with zip wires, sand pits, football pitches. A super pub on site which is hidden away around by the hall & certainly didn't affect us noise wise. Great food I would definitely recommend.
The shower blocks are very modern but they appear quite dark because of the colour of the tiles, they are very small & trying to clean 2 children & oneself is impossible. They are cleaned twice a day which means they are shut for one & half hours twice a day. I think that is excessive. The water was either freezing or boiling and there aren't separate washing basins so we had to clean our teeth next to the toilet.
The washing up facilities weren't much better as the taps just didn't produce any water. I think they just couldn't cope with the amount of people who wanted to use them.
The site is very well placed for local beaches most of them beautiful & deserted, a bonus. Also for the host of places to visit nearby with or without kids.
I will not let the washing facilities put me off as I did like the site and would visit again.

I really like this site and have just returned from our second visit. The pub has a nice atmosphere, the coffee shop is reasonable and the shop is handy.
The staff are all friendly and helpful.
We pitched our tent on pitch number 46 of the Pine Woods which is in a great situation.
However, I just don't like the toilet / shower block. It feels such a chore to use them. The lay out seems cramped and awkward, the location of the showers results in a wet floor just inside the door (and therefore muddy mess). The showers in the Ladies section are very small.
There are no separate sink cubicles resulting in cleaning your teeth next to a toilet!
The facilities were bearable Wednesday and Thursday, but Friday, Saturday and Sunday (when the site was full) it was awful. The toilets were cleaned twice a day but the facilities simply couldn't cope.
I think the owners should consider a revamp as I'm afraid they are not 5*.

This site ticks all the boxes. The customer service, the location, the facilities were all excellent. We stayed in the Meadow, an area designated for motorhomes which was excellent.
We cycled one of the mapped out routes one day and covered over 20 miles but the area is so flat I could have carried on. We didn't eat in the pub but the prices were good. Only gripe was that as the rest of the country was basking in the heat, it was overcast and cold here. Nevertheless, we will defo be back.
