Choose this site as a short three night break during half term that wasn't miles away from home. We booked a hardstanding pitch with electric hook up. The pitches are more than ample. Being out of season it was very quiet but we prefer it like this. I can imagine, from the number of grass pitches for use in better weather, this site is popular and busy during the summer.

We had a friendly reception on arrival, offered help to get us onto pitch (we declined as were ok) and were never bothered again. There was building works going on but did not affect us at all and personally I would expect maintenance/improvements going on at this time of year.

The children's play areas were good; kids loved the zip wires. Obviously swimming pool was shut but looked ok if a little small. The cycle trail went down a storm!

Not sure if pub was open. Didn't investigate as we catered for ourselves.

Only complaint is that the heating in the shower/toilet block was not on. The block itself was clean and well maintained but with no heating didn't shower the kids in there as was so cold. Hot water was ok after a while. We ended up showering at the swimming pool in Yarmouth we went to.

What a gem of a campsite this is.

Firstly booking in and we were greeted with friendly staff that were very professional.

We were shown to our pitch which was very ample for our tent. The grass was well kept, flat and litter free.

It was a short walk to the shower block which also was spotless.

The showers are free and very powerful with ample hot water. The shower heads had three settings that really invigorating, a good jet wash indeed.

The site's pool is small and a tad bracing when you first jump in but you soon become acclimatised.

After dark it's peaceful and you'll see some spectacular skies if its clear. Come morning you may be awoken by the Peacocks and Pigeons that are on site. We were visited by a white Peahen whom ate strawberries form my daughters hand.

The pub on site it is recommended to book for an evening meal. The food is lovely and not to badly priced. We ate twice there and couldn't fault it.

The playgrounds kept our little one occupied and both in a safe condition. There is a hidden tree house in the woods too.

The crazy golf is great fun but a few holes need resurfacing very soon indeed.

Around and about your not too far from Hemsby (bit run down) and Great Yarmouth is also 15 minutes down the road. Also your minutes away from the broads where you can hire boats to go for a jolly on the waters.

If your lucky you may catch the seals at Hemsby beach but they're hard to spot in the sea.

All in all we had a fantastic stay and we'd definitely go again.

Pool, tennis and playgrounds great for kids. Our tent pitch patch was on a slight slope, wasn't a problem as decided to pitch the tent other way round which then seemed a bit rude to other campers pitch as we had our back of tent to them, went in middle of August so expected it to be busy, but was a lot noisier than I would have preferred, noticed an awful lot of children just wandering about or skidding about in the gravel on bikes, now the place is designed to be child friendly so not a criticism of the site really just other parents leaving the children to there own devices. I stayed with my own children but on visits to pool / park etc I was with them but felt like the only adult around.

The toilets were a lot better than other sites, and a definite step forward for the life of camping. Location was good to go off and explore what the rest of Norfolk had to offer, so an excellent base to set up from although not the cheapest site, the facilities outweigh the cost, great to have a good park area and plenty of water taps / electric points etc. ,

Overall I think a great site, maybe I would go again but not in peak season, would have preferred a bit quieter and a bit more privacy, no one made much noise post 11pm which was good and a great effort from the site management to keep this rule. , I had to move the car a few times as a familiy decided to play cricket a little bit too close for comfort to our pitch, a great place for children to make new friendships and run wild.

Clippesby Hall is not within easy walking distance of any activities or attractions. (There! Hopefully that negative start will put some people off. I want to keep this site a secret so that I can continue to go there without it becoming too crowded because in every other respect it is just about perfect!).

We had a large, grassy pitch, nicely sheltered and with a good outlook. The on-site bar/restaurant is large enough to be a pleasant evening diversion but not so large that it is a distraction. The bathrooms are fantastic, especially the newest ones. The pool and mini-golf are ideal diversions and Norfolk's many attractions are only s short car journey away.

We had the best of our Summer breaks here this year and will definitely be back.

We visited this site in the first week of Leicester school holidays, before most other schools had broken up. It was therefore very quiet, especially in the week. We stayed on Cedar Lawn, pitch 13, and at times there were only 2 other tents on the field.

We visited during a heat wave with daily sun and over 30 degree temps, so the outdoor pool was fantastic to cool off. The pool was quite small, with a max of 15 people allowed in at one time, but we never had an issue getting in and there were often only a dozen users in there. There is also a small toddler splash pool. The water was not cold in either pool.

There are 2 playgrounds, one has 3 zip wires (including a baby seat version for little ones), the other has swings, a large climbing web etc. Very good indeed.

There is 18 hole crazy golf on site, plus tennis courts and table tennis tables. The restaurant / pub has a games room with 2p machines etc, and there is a pool table in the cafe. There is a bike trail round the edge of the site and a quiet lawn where no games are allowed.

All in all, for kids this is one of the best sites we've stayed at, only Trewan Hall is as good from the sites we've stayed at.

There is a new toilet block, which has superb facilities, as nice, if not better than a bathroom at home! The other 3 blocks are basic by comparison, but were clean. I can imagine the site must have suffered from a lack of facilities before the new block was built. I would say they are now adequate, but we made the extra walk to only use the new block.

We ordered made on site pizza one night which were very nice, and also ate at the restaurant one night, which was also good. There is a cafe and terrace overlooking the crazy golf which we didn't use but was a nice setting for a coffee and yummy looking cakes.

A new shop / kitchen is in the process of being built next to the reception.

There were a couple of planes coming into Norwich airport each day, but not enough to be an annoyance, and road noise was very minimal even at night. Everything on site was well tended and clean.

All in all I'm rating the site 10 for our stay, but I suspect the pool and some other facilities would be strained when the site was full.

We have just had a great few days with our children and grandchildren on this campsite!

The pitches are large and well spaced in small wooded areas, so the site doesn't feel as big as it is. The owners have thought of everything : a shop, cafe, pub/restaurant, play areas, family golf, cycle hire - you name it, Clippesby has it!

Our grandchildren loved making camps in the woods and the zip wires were a great success. The swimming pool is very small and ok for a splash around for the children, but nice to have for the little ones.

There is a brand new shower block, which rather shows up the others, but they were reasonably clean (despite the campsite being full and on occasions the ground was wet) and cleaned twice a day. Plenty of hot water for showers and washing up, which was great, especially when it came to cleaning up the BBQ we hired from reception!

Local attractions are of course the Broads (we had a boat trip from the Waterside at Rollesby which was very good), the sandy beaches around Horsey (we saw seals!) and Bewilderwood, which was a great success with our grandchildren aged 4 - 10.

We visited for several nights the week before the easter weekend and it felt odd as our previous visits have been in the summer when the site is completely full. We had a hard standing serviced pitched in the orchard which was very pleasant.

The children enjoyed the play equipment and space as usual and we had a couple of meals in the pub which were nice. I was disappointed the toilet and shower block felt cold. We love the freshly baked pastries from the shop.

We visited Norwich, Africa Alive and went to see the seals at Horsey beach.

We stayed at Clippesby Hall for a week from 24 August. 3 adults and 7 and 4 yr old.

Our unit was pitch no: 75 in South Park. Check in went smoothly all staff helpful. Chris especially. He took us to our pitch initially was disappointed as was under a tree and on a slope. But after 5 mins of figuring our best way to pitch we started to unpack. Soon realised few little pathways very close to tent so windbreaker came in handy just as a boundry to give us a little privacy and define our pitch line. This worked fine till our last night when I can only describe as hobbie campers who just arrived took no notice and felt wasn't an issue to walk through our pitch on more than one occasion! And blocked our car in. Having said that they said they would move there's if we wanted to be out! Guess not privy to campsite etiquette!.

Now if you don't mind your tent being papped on by wood pigeons etc and its purple as plenty of black berries around. And does stain. ,

It is very close to toilet block and washing up facilities. We found although the site busy. None of us had to wait for the toilet or showers which had very nice hot water. Facilities cleaned twice a day the cleaners did good job however found the campers well some of them mopping the floors behind them was either beneath them or oblivious to why mops are provided.

We found the shop well stocked and we visited the on site pub for dinner one night which was very nice. But in busy periods please book.

Now as for things for the kids to do. My grandson hes 4 said the sand pit was his favourite! And my niece she's 7 said the zip wires. From the pool although bit on small side and bit cold according to the kids! The climbing frames swings and football pitch give children plenty to do. On site cycle trails good but never took advantage of cycle hire.

Overall this is a great site. If came again would stay on cedar lawn or the gravel service pitches. Might have cleaner less muddy footprints. Of people spoken to they had no damage to there's and are frequent visitors.

As for type of visitor's to site well we found most very polite pleasant. Children never left to run wild. No rowdiness and site goes quiet around 11pm and we all slept till the cooing of wood pigeons wake you up. Park is bit dark at night but we liked that as once dark the park quietens down.

So if I had to pick fault. Its small one on toilet block doors could something like a soft closure be fitted so don't hear door close which can be loud especially at night.

We have just returned after a weeks stay, with our 2 children aged 2 and 6 years. We had a pitch in rabbits grove, which is a quieter, more private place to pitch. The pitch was very spacious and we loved having our own water tap and drainage. There is a lot for the children to do, bike trails, adventure play ground with zip wires for older children and toddlers. The musket arms, pub on site, was wonderful. It had a wide choice of home made food, which catered for all the family. They also had entertainment, which was great. We booked a table, as it does get very busy. The night we did not eat/book a table, we were unable to get a table for the entertainment in the evening, so book in advance. The toilet facilities were very clean, considering the wet weather. Mops were available for people to clean up after themselves.

Negatives:

Our pitch had an all weather shingle. Luckily we had rock pegs with us, as this could have been a problem when pitching. The shingle has also slightly damaged the ground sheet on our tent, so this is something to bear in mind when you are booking.

The toilet facilities were, as mentioned above, very clean. However, the number of showers etc. Were struggling under the number of people using them. Most, almost all mornings I had to queue for the showers, even at 7am in the morning. The family bathroom was great, as it had a bath, but this was the only family facility for this large site. The facilities were also cleaned at very strange times. The main block for the site was closed between 8:15-9:25pm, and some nights we went over at 9:45pm and they were still closed for cleaning. This is something to consider if you have young children, we felt we were constantly clock watching around bedtime, as you were never guaranteed to get in the family room straight away, not terribly relaxing. There are 2 other smaller facilities blocks around the site, but they close at 7:15pm onwards for cleaning too!

To sum up, great location, great activities for kids, lovely pub, would benefit from more facilities for the amount of pitches, and facilities could do with being cleaned at different times.

Just spent a fantastic 5 days on this wonderful site. It was over the weekend when they had the music festival. The setting, the weather and the event was just fabulous.

We arrived on the Thursday and had a good sized, fairly level corner all weather pitch with power on The Heath. Although surrounded pretty much by huge pine trees we got the sun from 10 in the morning until 8 in the evening - and boy did we get sunshine, the weather could not have been kinder.

The music festival was an added bonus with some great local talent. The festival was held in the walled garden area by the pool and pub, an absolutely beautiful setting for the event. It was far enough away from the pitches so if you wanted some peace and quiet you just needed to go back to your tent and you couldn't hear a thing, certainly from our pitch anyway.

All of the staff on this site have to be commended but one guy in particular was every where (think he may have been the manager). He was serving food, collecting glasses moving chairs & tables around, introducing the bands and even playing drums at one stage. He just didn't stop and was ever present during our stay.

The site is very well kept and has all the facilities you can think of - from pitch & putt to cycle hire, tennis court to swimming pool. We didn't have children with us but the play facilities for them looked superb. Although it's surrounded by beautiful countryside and ideally situated for touring the Norfolk Broads, if you simply wanted a quiet break you wouldn't need to leave the site as it was a joy just exploring it and watching the birds.

The site covers a large area but has been very well thought out with several different areas to choose to pitch your unit. On the Heath where we were the shower facilities were very close by and always in immaculate condition as were the washing up facilities, which although open to the elements were well sheltered.

All in all we had a fantastic time and are already planning a return visit for the festival next year. So thanks again to all the team at Clippesby, your hard work was really appreciated.
