Nothing more to say really than this is a bloody fantastic site with fantastic facilities! We were in a group of 4 families with 4 young children ranging from 5 to 10 weeks old.

The site is very friendly, has everything you need on site including a small pool, a lovely pub (excellent food), tennis court and mini golf. The loo/wash-up facilities were second to none, I particularly liked the fact there was a family bath room complete with bath and changing table for my 10 week old daughter.

Lots of nice walks and other things to do in the local area, including beaches and its not to far from 'Bewilderwood' park which is a must for anyone with children.

Most definitely going back at some point!

We stayed in a Pine Lodge for half-term with two 2kids (6+3) plus grandparents. Clippesby Hall is a lovely campsite. It's very attractive due to the mature trees and planting, I felt it looked as nice as the website photos, which is a rare thing!

Even though it was fully booked it still felt spacious, units aren't crammed in. The kids loved the new Bewilderwood style playground as well as the other play area. Lots of areas for the kids cycle round the site - our daughter learnt how to ride her bike there.

There are 3 toilet/shower blocks, one with a bath. There are several toilet / basin cubicles in each block and are cleaned twice a day at busy times. We ordered fresh bread and pain-au-chocolat most mornings.

We didn't go to the coffee shop but ate in the pub there, it was very pleasant inside, good food and good beer. We didn't use the pool - weather wasn't hot enough. They had colouring sheets and put the best-coloured ones on the wall our 6yr old was very proud hers had made it onto the wall.

We had many days out:

- Africa Alive (used Tesco vouchers)a good day out. Saw an aardvark for the first time.

- Hired a boat from Broads Tours at Potter Heigham only £16 for an hr, long enough for us each to have a turn 'driving' without the 3yr old getting restless.

- Barton Broad Boardwalk is a nice easily accessible walk through the marshland to the edge of the broad.

- Great Yarmouth Pleasure beach front - not really our cup of tea but great if you like that kind of thing.

- Winteron beach. Lovely sandy beach. Car park right next to the beach £3 for the day. Toilets and a cafe which my mum said sold huge homemade cakes at reasonable prices. Only 5-6 miles from Clippesby, went there on the recommendation of reception staff. As with most British beaches a windbreak is a big bonus.

- Bewilderwood - our kids' highlight of the holiday and the adults loved it too. I would say it's a must do. We were there for ~4hrs incl picnic in carpark and do every area.

- Wroxham Barns - had a very nice lunch there and seems you can book a table. Nice shops. Only went for lunch and wished we'd had more time there as there was more to do than I realised (incl traditional funfair and farm).

- Broads Tour of Wroxham and Salhouse Broads. Quite a busy stretch of water and more commercial than day boat hire from Potter Heigham but beautiful waterways and enjoyed getting to see 2 Broads properly.

Would recommend all of the above and there were plenty more places to visit which we didn't. If you like cycling there are loads of routes. Your arrival pack has lots of info with a booklet recommending ~10 different days trips plus all the usual info in reception.

This was our second visit as we also went in August 2009 for 2 weeks. This time we went for a week.

This site is fantastic! It is great for kids - open space, playgrounds, zip wires, football pitch, tennis court, swimming pool, volley ball, crazy golf and bike rides (I think I have them all), but this is not your big 'Holiday Park' type of place - it has a lovely 'small site' friendly atmosphere and also gives you a quiet relaxing holiday whilst achieving this and this gives Clippesby its great appeal. Even when it is full, it does not feel at all overcrowded.

The pitches are varied sizes and come in differing areas separated by mature trees - this gives pitches a secluded feel - it is not a big open plan field with pitches in rows. The pitches are predominantly grass, but there are a few hard standing ones in a specific area. Where the grass has been a bit 'hammered' by repeated use (or wet weather), bark was spread to avoid a muddy spot. Our pitch last August was a bit boggy at the rear, but not a problem and if it was, I am confident the staff would do their utmost to resolve any issue you had.

The staff are very friendly, polite and extremely helpful. They appear to be very committed and hard working.

In addition to the on-site facilities, a lot of help and advice is provided for off-site activities too - eg. canoeing, cycling and there are lots of places to see, beaches, the broads etc, however a very pleasant day is easy to have on site.

There is a coffee shop and bakery on site that bakes great bread and croissants etc to order and also serves good hot food / snacks / drinks during the day. In addition, there is a pub on site which also serves excellent food in the evenings. At the pub, there is entertainment - quizzes, kids disco. The kids love going there and Ray (I think that's his name!), who runs the disco does a fantastic job.

The toilet facilities are of a very high standard and obviously been updated relatively recently. However, this leads to the very minor points for improvement (relating to the toilet / shower block near the Heath which we used predominantly).

Repairs / replacements when things don't work need to be kept up to ensure the high standard set is maintained (e.G. Broken loo seat, shower head unable to lock into height position)

Also, the facilities do not appear to cope brilliantly with many users at once, e.G. Hot / cold water flow can be interrupted in shower / dishwashing area. This could be looked at as a potential improvement?

I must stress that the staff to a great job in thoroughly cleaning the facilities (it would be maintained better at busy times or wet weather if more people did as politely requested and made a bit of an effort to 'leave as they would expect to find': e.g. mop floor in shower after use, pick up dropped paper towels/loo paper).

Do not let these minor points put you off at all though - the standard exceeds what you would find on many sites in my experience.

There is a small shop on site which sells basic items, but in Acle, a few minutes drive away, there's a couple of supermarkets.

Overall this site is perfect, we have already booked for next year. It ticks all of the boxes for us and we have had 2 great relaxing holidays and the kids love it. On both occasions, at the end of the holiday, none of us wanted to come home. It has now set the standard for when we select other sites in different parts of the country and it's proving difficult to meet!

Highly recommended, though you'll need to book early for school hols as so many of us think it's fantastic! Also, if you don't fancy camping, you can hire apartments / lodges, there's a few of these on site too.

Loved this site, would definitely return.

Stayed for 4 nights in October half term and it was coming up to the end of their season. The staff were very helpful and friendly in all the areas and at any time of day.

The cafe was brilliant and there is a crazy golf course just outside.

Fresh bread and croissants where available to order daily(needed to order the day before).

The on site pub was great and the food very good, didn't think it was expensive. There was also real ale on, a big plus.

The swimming pool was closed for the season and so cannot comment.

The toilets where very clean and must have been cleaned more than twice a day. Showers good. Lots of hot water.

Took the bus to Great Yarmouth, had to book a mini bus from the site the day before to connect to the main bus route and worked really well.

After reading all the reviews about this site, I decided to book for a two week holiday with the kids in the summer. Be warned. Book early if you want to visit this site!We booked early January, only 1 pitch available for a fortnight stay in july/aug.

Starting with the facilities.

We were in Cedar Lawn, The pitches were of ample size and all placed on the extremities of the grassed area. This left plenty of room for the kids to play. The play area near the pool was sparse, with not much for the kids to play on. The tree in the middle of the camping area was the main attraction for playing!

The site was always quiet after dark and would advise a good torch as it is pitch black at night.

The toilet blocks in general were good and kept clean. Some extra showers would have been nice, as they were busy at usual peak times.

The swimming pool pictures make it look great!. Don't be fooled. The pool is very small and crowded most of the time, water quality was usually cloudy! due to the usage in nice weather.

Reception and Coffee shop were first class and very helpful.

I cannot comment on the musket arms pub on the site as we never went in.

All in all the site is made to look more glam in the brochure than what it is, Without trying to sound a typical caravanner. The site is mainly a camping site and 80% of the pitches were occupied by large tents. And at over £30 a night it is an expensive campsite.

The area in general was excellent, with plenty to do and excellent beaches near by. The broads had some very nice places to visit and the kids loved there days out.

I will be returning to this Area.

We stayed peak season and the site was full. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, in reception, in the shop / cafe and for the cycle hire. The site is unique amongst those we have stayed at because of the lovely wooded environment and our two girls (4 and 7) loved playing in the woods with their new friends. They also loved the swimming pool (too small and cold for me!). There are some lovely and spacious play areas.

Most of the pitches are very good and spacious, indeed many people were re-booking particular pitches for next year. However, the pitch we were shown to on arrival was right next to the main access road to many of the other pitches and adjacent to the access to one of the camping fields. We were found another pitch after we complained and the new pitch was a good size and in a good location. There seemed to be a small number of pitches that were restricted or cramped or right on the access road. Also, quite a few of the pitches had a wood chip covering; these can cause punctures in ground sheets.

The showers were very smart, although some were a little tight, there were some queues at peak times.

We had a lovely holiday and this was a good location from which to explore the broads / visit the coast. Would recommend the boat trip at the nature reserve in Hickling. We would visit this site again but would book early and be fussy about the pitch.

We booked a few months in advance and managed to get 4 nights at the end of August which I understand is unusual because it is normally booked well in advance for peak periods.

Having read up on the site, I was excited and happy to pay the £35 a night for caravan and awning on the understanding this was an exceptional site.

Whilst the site is nice and wooded and the coffee shop and bakery a welcome bonus, I was quite disappointed in other aspects. The swimming pool was freezing and tiny and the playground had little equipment. The pub was situated in a ramshackled area of outbuildings and was not what I expected, although we did not actually eat there. Clippersy hall itself is fairly invisible - I certainly did not feel I was staying in the grounds of a period mansion as I expected from the photos.

All in all a nice site, but not sure how they justify the prices.

As for the area - brilliant. Had a picnic with 25 seals on the beach at horsey, took a 3 hour cruise on the broads on a small cruiser from wrexham and went to Bewilderwood. Recommend each of the above for a great day out.

This site is fabulous! Arrived to a very friendly welcome and was personally taken to our pitch which was in the rabbits grove, we were facing pine trees which the kids loved running in and out of.
The shower and family bathroom were very good and cleaned twice a day, I only wish people would use the mops provided to clean the floor after themselves (not the site's fault).
There is a pub on site which looked very nice and had a nice menu but we didn't use it, there is a large play area with football pitch and a few swings, climbing frame and a sandpit for the kids. The pool is small but nice (and cold I was told)! There is a separate small paddling pool for the little ones.
There is a nice little cafe with wi-fi and the shop has fresh bread and cakes made to order. There is a very nice crazy golf course next to the shop for £2 a go and a playfield with nets. This site is in a great location, close to lots of lovely little towns to visit as well as the broads.
We will definitely be returning to Clippesby but be aware that you need to book very early as it's a very popular site!

Everything about this campsite was lovely.

There was loads of space for the kids to run, explore and play. The pool was nice and warm and the pub although we did not eat there had a great atmosphere.

We hired bikes for 2 days and all enjoyed the 15 mile route with stop offs. The surrounding area had plenty to do, we visited Ranworth Broad, Strumpshaw Fen, Winterton on Sea beach: with its seal colony was definitely a highlight for us.

There is a minor gripe, as the site is obviously geared for families we were surprised at the small size of the shower cubicles, larger ones would have made it easier to wash and dress our little ones.

However all in all, lovely place.

 A truly wonderful campsite!

We have visited this camp site about 5 times in the last 3 years. The pitches are large and well spaced, unlike many sites. Even when the site is full, it does not feel at all cramped. The site is well laid out, and divided into separate areas by mature trees and woodland, the latter providing a great environment for activities such as 'den' building or 'nature' hunting. Our children (8 and 6 years) took delight in having their 'finds' recorded on the board in reception.

The shower blocks are very clean and well maintained. Other on-site facilities are excellent - an outdoor swimming pool, good play area, pub/restaurant (good selection of local beers), shop (basic groceries and freshly baked bread), cafe, laundry, plenty of washing-up sinks etc. Some activities, such as archery are also available - we had a fun morning. There is also cycle hire available, and staff provide helpful advice about cycle routes etc. There is some evening entertainment in the on-site pub. Our children particularly enjoyed the games and children's disco nghts.

Aside from the excellent facilities on offer, nothing is too much trouble for the campsite owners, John and Susie, assisted by their capable and friendly team. We developed a flat car battery this year. I went down to reception to see if I could possibly borrow some jump-leads. Before I had even walked back to the tent, one of the staff was already at the car, jump leads and all!

There are a multitude of places to visit within the local area - good sandy beaches, The Broads, activity parks, a few National Trust properties, Norwich etc. We found a great new guidebook this year which listed various places and provided useful information. It certainly helped us to discover some 'off the beaten track' places('The Best of Britain - East Anglia' by Susan Griffith).

Have already booked for next year!
