My husband and I are just back from this site and it was wonderful. We were supposed to stay 2 nights as we were touring but ended up staying for 4.
The atmosphere is so calm and the area beautiful. It's everything a campsite should be. It was not full when we were there as it's before the school holidays but Jim, the owner, says he does not pack them in like sardines so I would highly recommend it to everyone.
Jim and Ishbel were wonderful and Jim told us about walks in the area which we did. They made it a lovely atmosphere on the site and knew everyone by their first names.
Toilet and shower facilities are first class. The weather was fantastic when we were there so the scenery was amazing.
We can't wait to go back and if it wasn't so far up the country from Glasgow we would go for the weekend.

This the place if you want magnificent scenery, peace and quiet and a warm, friendly, welcome, but go prepared to meet the challenges of the weather!
We visited in May and encountered some of the worst weather I have ever seen - pelting rain and howling gales (in May!)
Our tent collapsed on the second day and we were ready for heading home.
Fortunately our knight in shining armour in the shape of Jim, the owner came to our rescue - he helped us take down the tent(having helped us to put it up), and he put us up in a caravan on site for the remaining days of our holiday, charging us only a little extra for gas. Jim and his wife Ishbel could not have been more welcoming or helpful and I would not hesitate in recommending a visit - may be you'll be luckier with the weather.
I've given an overall rating of 9 simply because the site could do with a few more facilities such as a shop and a children's playground.
Oh, and the fish and chip van comes round three times a week! - very welcome.

Visited this site in September 2010 and stayed 3 nights. Its owner Jim is very welcoming and helpful at all times. The toilet and shower facilities were spotless. The surrounding area is beautiful, with a white beach, great walks near the site and we enjoyed cycling to Stoer lighthouse, which had fantastic views. Although the site does not have any shops or pubs nearby (would advise you stock up with essentials at Lochinver - 5 miles away). It is a single track road to the site with passing places and we did not encounter any problems at all accessing the site. We also liked the remoteness of the area and would highly recommend this site.

Spent two nights here and have every reason to be believe we'll be back - what a place!
Jim is helpful and available. The site facilities are clean and well organised, the pitches are large, open and dry (even though it rained whilst we were there it dried off quickly)and it would be difficult to better the setting.
When the sun is shining the white sandy beach and the sparkling clean blue sea could be Portugal or somewhere exotic further away. And when the wind gets up and the sea turns rough and black you can invent dramatic tales of sailors and shipwrecks.
I suppose that the lack of a shop, a pub, a playground, and the 'hairy' 5 mile trip down the single track lane and the changeable weather might put families off, but somehow they were all added attractions to the two of us.

Just spent 3 nights at Clachtoll Beach Campsite. Was warmly welcomed by lady manager (sorry didn't get your name) & later met Jim who was very friendly & chatty. We arrived on 18th Sept and site was fairly empty - the forecast was pretty poor. Being in a tent we opted for a bit of shelter rather than view but were more than happy with our pitch. Very flat, soft soil but sturdy enough to hold our tent through the worst of the weather to follow. Our second night was a bit wild, wet & windy - but hey, it's Scotland in September on the coast.
The facilities are immaculately clean & more than adequate (hairdryer in ladies). Although there was what appeared to be a hen night in one of the static vans beside us, all human activity was quiet by midnight - rain & wind caused most of the noise.
The beach close by is beautiful - sand & rocks. You should make sure you have all you need though because nearest shop is Lochinver 5 mls away. This is a beautiful wee campsite & I will definitely be back - just hope for some better weather.

Recently spent three nights here, whilst touring Scotland on a hiking holiday. If you're in this part of the UK then I'd highly recommend staying here. The owner Jim is really helpful and friendly. He gave me some tips on the best walking routes in the area, which was useful.
The location is quite remote but that's part of the charm of the place. It's a real gem in the highlands and the little beach is great when the sun is out.
Facilities are good - hot showers, clean toilets, washing up sinks, laundry (£3 washing, £1-£3 drying), coffee machine. There are no local shops for a few miles so make sure you stock up before you go. There is a Spar in Lochinver where you can get most things. And make sure you visit the Information Centre in Lochinver, it's really well run and packed with interesting information about the area, wildlife, walking, geology, history.
Overall, it's a great place to relax and unwind.

This site has to be one of the gems for location, scenery and tranquillity.
Have just returned from a weeks visit and to say that Jim and Ishbel were the perfect hosts is an understatement. Jim is always on hand to help in any and every way to make your visit a joy and for that I would say a special 'Thank you'
The single track road from Lochinver is a little difficult to negotiate with a large unit but the effort is to arrive at a beautiful location.
All the facilities on the site were spotless and there was ample room for all.
The four adults in our party give this their 100% vote.
This is a 'Must return to' site.

Just back from clachtoll beach, all I can say is 'go there' it's fantastic, views, peace and quite, just great. If your looking for a place to unwind then this is it.
If your looking for a site where everyone is on top of each other then go somewhere else. This is how campsites should be. I have a large motorhome and access and space were not a problem.

Excellent location. Very peaceful and gorgeous beach.
Lots of space and flat pitches. Toilets & showers are very clean. I was a bit worried at first that for the size of the site, 3 toilets and 2 showers wouldn't be enough, but I never came across a queue so seemed to work ok.
You need to take provisions with you as the nearest village with a shop is 6 miles and the shop is only a small Spar shop.
The only downsides were the lack of a pub & strict dog rule: There is no pub for miles & miles - the last one we saw was in Ullapool and that was a long drive away! So as long as you are happy making your own entertainment, then this shouldn't be a problem
The site is very strict on dogs. We had a whole field to ourselves and decided to give the dog a quick 10 minute play session with the ball. Almost immediately, the owner came and told us to put the dog back on the lead. They offered us the next field as a playground but they are full of sheep and just not safe to put dogs in!
All in all, excellent site and would go back again

Fabulous greeting from Jim, on our arrival showed us to our pitch and was most helpful throughout our stay. Stunning spot overlooking Clachtoll beach.
Toilet and shower facilities were excellent, spotless and welcoming. If you do peace and quiet this is the spot for you. Would we return the answer is a definite yes.
There are no shops nearby so you do need to take whatever you require with you.
