An idyllic site. A few steps away from a beautiful, extensive beach with wonderful coastal walks amid dramatic cliffs and historic landscapes.
Interested in scenery, archaeology, history, walking? It's the place for you.
As for the owner I have never met in 40 years of caravanning and motorhoming a more helpful and friendly site owner.
While we were there, during a really torrential downpour, he struggled onto the roof of a motorhome, whose owners had gone out for the day, to close the skylight which they had left open, thus saving them from almost certain flooding.
The next day during high winds, he was quickly out to help a family pitch their tent which they were struggling to erect, smiling and joking with them.
What a great bloke!
The facilities - toilets, showers and dishwashing - were beautifully clean and maintained.
It takes a bit of a struggle to get there but, my, is it worth it!
Motorhomers need not worry about its being an all grass site. It's on hard, well drained, machair and no problem to negotiate.

No wonder this site is in the top 10 campsites in Scotland.
This site offers an amazing location almost on the beach at Clachtoll. Lovely walks around the headland.
The facilities are good and exceptionally clean.
The free range hens kept our dogs fully engaged when outside the Motorhome.
The owner is on site and resides in a lovely home with amazing views of the Bay. He offered his knowledge of local walks which we could enjoy with the dogs.
The beach is beautiful the sea turquois and when the sun shone it couldn't get any better.
We can highly recommend this site as one not to miss if travelling around Scotland.

We have been dedicated Caravan Club members for years and so we have high standards - and this site met all of them. There are firm standings for the caravans which means you are stepping out onto machair grass ( no nasty tarmac ) and the views of the coast are superb. Shower block is clean and a very good standard. The silence is broken only by the enthusiastic singing of the shorelarks and gulls, but you can almost touch the silence here. Jim and Ischbel gave us the warmest welcome and their commitment to the site and to ensuring everyone gets the best out of their stay here is exceptional.
Lochinver is a short ( if exciting) drive away and has good stores for all the essentials.
The beach at Clachtoll is perfect and the walking around here is superb and the scenery in Assynt is just amazing.
What are you waiting for?

Caravan & 2 adults £20/night with EHU. Road to site from Lochinver is narrow with passing places and tight in places. No problem with a tourer but care is needed. The site is mainly grass with some hard standings which are level but the site generally is uneven and sloping. Toilet and shower facilities are clean but dated. Free wifi which reaches most of the site. Used satellite dish for decent reception. No phone signal. Views to the sea are restricted by sand dunes but the sandy beach is lovely. Chickens roam the site. Friendly warden greeted us on entry and waved us away when we left. Lives in house on site. Fresh fish van visits Wednesdays. Only petrol/diesel in area is in Lochinver and very expensive. Top up before getting here.
Would certainly visit this site again.

We got here on a sunny day and it meant the site was busy, but the owner let us have a choice of pitch. It meant there was not much room for the kids to play but there it a huge field and the beach adjacent so no real issue.
Tidy toilets, showers and washing area. We stayed here for a few days before getting the Ferry from Ullapool so was a good stopping point.
Can't comment on the surrounding area because it was such nice weather spent most of it at the beach which was lovely and clean.

Spent an enjoyable few days at this site:
Friendly, welcoming and helpful warden;
Pretty flat site separated into 3 different sections;
Very clean toilet block and pot washing facilities though slightly cramped (perfectly adequate however when you're on holiday and it doesn't matter if you've to queue for a few minutes);
Super location next to sandy beach and pretty little bay.
All in all a nice site and a good base for exploring the surrounding area.

My husband John and I have just came home after a wonderful holiday at Clachtoll Beach Campsite. The hosts are two of the nicest people you could possibly meet. The campsite is well run and the shower/toilet blocks kept spotlessly clean.
Although there are no shops nearby you don't mind because of the scenery and the beautiful beaches.
The road down to the campsite is one I won't forget in a hurry! It must be travelled to be experienced! My favourite spot has to be half way down this road, it's easy to find because of the three benches sitting there, the view takes your breath away.

Absolutely beautiful beach and stunning scenery. Very friendly and helpful owners who really took care of the site and its campers. Free hot showers and clean facilities although a little small for the number of campers-although only had to queue a couple of times for the pot wash and showers so not a great problem. This is a real 'get away from it all' site and as such you need to be prepared (although there is a small town with convenience store just over a mile away -a bit expensive and petrol was a good 10p a litre dearer than normal. ) The site was visited by a mobile food van which many of the campers used but we didn't. Plenty of room on the site so you didn't feel cramped even though it was busy. Clachtoll beach has its own micro-climate and when the sun shines it is almost tropical with white beaches and a beautiful clear sea. Lovely walking/cycling area too.

Lovely site with a few minutes walk from an outstanding white sandy beach.
Owner could not be more helpful and friendly.
Free wi-fi is also available which was great for uploading pix to Facebook!
Facilities were good, pitches were grass and reasonable size.
I would definitely recommend this site if you are up that area and looking for a place to stay. If you have a dog, avoid Achmelvic as there are NO dogs allowed - period! This site was much more doggy friendly.

Just returned from this site after a week long stay. It is one of the loveliest sites we have stayed on, the owner is so friendly and helpful and the place is very well organised whilst still being relaxed with big pitch sizes and a really natural feel. We stayed an extra day to make the most of the weather.
The site is safe, our two sons 6 and 4 could happily cycle around the place and had a great time making new friends. My 6 year old started crying when he saw me packing to come home! But its equally great for all ages
The facilities are scrupulously clean and well kept. It would be great if you could buy some basics here, just even milk and eggs, but appreciate this might not be easy for the busy owners.
The walks around to split rock and the Broch have unbelievably beautiful views and towards the end of the week we were basking in 28 degrees and the beach was stunning, the water crystal clear and refreshing.
Whilst here we attempted to go to cape wrath but ferry wasn't running, so would recommend phoning ahead, but Durness is still a beautiful place. The road from Lochinvar to Coigach is jaw droppingly beautiful.
We took the summer isles trip from Ullapool (saw porpoises and the views all around were amazing) and could stock up on provisions.
Culag woods near lochinver are magical and I would recommend heading for the white shore, a wee pebbly beach with a great wee picnic spot and natural play area.
The highlight of our week though was spotting a pod of orca's from Stoer lighthouse, it was completely unexpected as we just went to look at the lighthouse, it was 5pm, windy and rainy. We followed them round the lighthouse and saw them so clearly.
I did the walk across the headlands to Achmelvich, a beautiful beach but sadly utterly spoiled by constant motorboats. The walk up to the cairn on the southern headland shows split rock from the other side and clearly over the mountains and down to Coigach. I walked onto Lochinver and again had amazing views of Suilven etc.
North west Scotland is my favourite part of the world and we would recommend this campsite. We will be coming back!
