Superb campsite, ideal location to get about on the hill and on the coast. The coastline is amazing here and so clean and peaceful, its like a mini Hawaii, I kid you not!
The campsite itself is fantastically situated and has brilliant facilities, very clean and well presented, completely welcoming of dogs and everyone staying at the site seemed on good spirits, which is a bonus and probably indicative of how good the site is.
Only slight downfall is that the number of showers may become an issue during peak periods, otherwise highly recommended.

Went to visit family who now live in Lochinver and stayed for 3 nights during Springbank. As expected Jim was super friendly. The facilities were spotless, and cleaned for one hour daily by Jim's parents .
My grass pitch was spacious and had fantastic views. Whilst we were there we had all four seasons weather. On our last day NW Scotland was the warmest place in the UK at 26C and the windswept beach of the previous days was transformed into a tropical paradise - LOL

Finally the 5 miles from Lochinver to Clachtoll was the most 'challenging' towing that I've experienced . But I live to tell the tale !

Stayed for a few days in late August and was amazed at how busy the place was. Although there were lots of tents and caravans we had plenty of choice to pitch our tent.

Jim was very friendly and also very helpful, he stepped in to assist when the wind attacked as I was putting up the tent.

Facilities wise the site was always clean and while busy we never had to wait to long for access to showers/dish washing facilities. For its remote location I believe the facilities to be more than adequate and fit the nature of the site.

It was breezy while we were there but no midges either!

The beach was lovely and our little boy (17 months) loved exploring it and the surrounding countryside.

If there had been a site shop it would have been perfect, having to drive to Lochinver for Milk supplies was the only negative.

I'd also recommend staying for more than 2-3 nights to fully appreciate it.

Nice site in a lovely area. Was busy mostly with tents probably more suitable for tents than caravans as ground very soft. One draw back tents and caravans were very close together too close in fact. Could do with a few more hook-ups and separate area for caravans.

Can't fault the warden as he was very friendly and did apologise for closeness of our neighbours.

Toilets and showers very clean.

Lochinver is lovely place local pub had best fish and chips ever tasted fish was so fresh locally caught.

Scenery is stunning in this area well worth a visit.

Arrived on site 20th August and given the site location, was surprised to find it really quite busy. However, this is a well run site and the numbers had no impact on the peaceful nature of the surroundings.

Jim and Ishbel are a charming couple and were very helpful throughout our stay, always interested in what the visitors have been up to.

The toilet and washing facilities were always very clean and while on occasion there may have been a queue to wash dishes, I believe Jim has plans to remedy this for next year.

The site is located very close to a beautiful beach which is washed by incredibly clear water abundant with marine life. However, be warned that the wind off the Atlantic can be quite powerful and during our visit on the Saturday night several tents were storm damaged, with a few ending up in the rubbish area.

In short, a wonderful, peaceful site which allows access to some of the most spectacular scenery in the UK.

We will be back in 2009.

As everyone else says just got handbrake on and Jim was over to welcome us. He showed us to our pitch while asking if we needed any help putting tent up. Once our tent was up we realised our cable wasn't long enough to reach electric point, so at 10pm at night Jim was away looking and returned 2 minutes later with a longer cable for us. My husband was delighted to say the least as it saved moving tent. The campsite is busy but very clean. Toilets well looked after. Laundry room very handy, tho not allowed to use washing machine from 6pm till 9pm to allow hot water to be used for dishes. Not a problem. Now the best bit.Beach. Was beautiful, water lovely. Was on the beach every morning at 6am with my retriever pup and a few seagulls, actually memory of those mornings now making me sad wishing I was back! We were there during the hot spell in July and beach and sea like it was the med and not up North. Surrounding area is fab . Durness well worth the drive as beach also lovely. Will definitely return to Clachtoll if we can get in. Oh actually its horrible n you wouldn't like it!

We stayed here at the beginning of August for 7 nights and had the best holiday we've ever had. The weather was perfect, only one wet morning in the whole 7 days. We even had the pleasure of watching dolphins swim in the bay, wonderful. The surrounding areas were lovely we were constantly in awe of just how beautiful the place is.

The pitch was flat and even though we were right on the edge overlooking the sea, our tent did well in the wind, we have a vango vail 500 which is pretty big.

The showers were hot and very clean. I do think they could do with a couple more showers in the mens block though as there was always a wait even at night. The pot wash was fine for us, we never queued.

The site was very busy when we were there but still really friendly and relaxing. I wish all sites were like this. We will return next year for sure.

We booked to go here because of all the positive reviews, and weren't disappointed. The facilities are obviously cared for. The only improvement they could make would be to the showers - currently have old, fixed head, push-the-button-for-15-seconds-of-water ones. The cubicles are very small, with no seat/stool - ok for adults, but a bit tricky when trying to get a 2 year old clean! There's a baby bath available that's a good size - after the first disasterous shower experience we put our elder daughter in that with the baby, which worked nicely! Midges only attacked as we arrived and when we were packing away, the lovely sunny and windy weather kept them away the rest of the week. Beautiful beach, blooming freezing sea (lots of kids in wetsuits braving the water mind). We made the 1hr+ trip to the Smokehouse down some scary roads to be very disappointed when we got there. Expected to have a tour of the smokehouse, but there were just windows to look through. Expected the opportunity to taste different types of smoked fish, but there was just a very small shop with no samples - might as well just do a postal order.

Jim and Ishbel make the site the great place that it is - the atmosphere is second to none. It's a marvellous place for folks with active children. We'll be returning!

Friendly welcome, but numerous, free range children spoiled what was hoped to be a quite break on the West Coast. If my dogs were as wild, and out of control, and made as much noise as the children on the campsite did, I'm sure we would have been asked to leave! Why is it only dog owners that are expected to keep their charges under control ?!

Toilets and showers were very clean, but not enough for a busy, overcrowded, site.

Tried to use the chemical disposal point twice and it was locked. You had to try and find the owners to open up. Not so convenient when you are ready to leave the site early in the morning.

What a drive but worth it.

Toilets/showers clean and warm some people did complain, but they were having problems with the boiler and this was been fixed. The owners and their wardens were boiling water so people did not struggle. We never noticed

Always a queue at the dish washing area even really late on a night.

No playground only the hills and beach but that is what we wanted. Pitch was fairly level recommend sand pegs as been coastal can be windy but this keeps down the dreaded midges.

Lots of people arriving late into the day with young children 9-10 at night with no reservation, did not feel so daft having booked in January. Jim and Ishbel let a few families on but the were pushing their license limit for the facilites. It is in the middle of nowhere and I can feel their predicament at having families arrive at the end of a long day.

We were lucky to have an impromtu cailey imagine Sun setting 11:30 at night people dancing, children laughing, parents drinking and singing IDYLLIC. It also helped having a fantastic week of weather. When the rest of the UK were getting soaked we were sitting on a beach with turquoise water and whales jumping.

The pie shop in Lochinver expensive but worth every penny we will now be one of their christmas customers. The pubs are good. Unfortunatley did not make it to the fishmongers he had gone to the pub, but saw his car at the lifeboat so I assume a call out.

We are definatley going back next year maybe this if we can get booked.
