A lovely, intimate campsite that is in complete contrast to the typical, large French versions. It is set in a gorgeous apple orchard. It is 2 kilometres from La Haye du Puits and is a very peaceful site. Mark and Mel are very warm, welcoming and friendly.
The facilities are very well maintained, spotless and practical. The addition of a small fridge for people to use is a bonus, and very useful for cooling cidre.
Overall highly recommended.

We have just returned from this campsite and what a fantastic site. We cannot recommend enough. The owners Mark and Mel are so hospitable, nothing is too much trouble and they will give you so much information on the area, from cycle tracks to restaurants to fishing! Anything they can help to make your stay the best it can be.
The site is small and tranquil, kept immaculately clean and tidy from the showers, toilets too the pitches. The site has 2 toilets, 2 showers and 2 sinks, the site was full with tents but we never had too wait to use anything and a fridge is provided for use, which is a lovely touch. There is lots of little thoughtful bits around the site like a little swing hanging from a apple tree which the our daughter loved, picnic tables and a set around one of the trees.
The site is not far from the town, however we found with a 7 year old we could not walk as there is no pavements and it is small bendy roads. We tried cycling into the town one day but again this was not ideal, but once into the town we enjoyed the cycle tracks. The beaches are close but again not too cycle too with children. The town has some lovely restaurants and a good market on a weds. Normandy is known for its cider and we visited a cider producer we meet from the local market who was about 20 mins drive away and had a great time seeing it made and tasting local ciders.
This is one of the best sites we have ever visited and will definitely be going back.

My wife and I stayed in our caravan at this site for three nights on the way back to Cherbourg from Brittany. The owners are English and very friendly and helpful. In fact our water pump had failed at the previous site and the owner (a caravan engineer) spent a good hour trying to get it going again for us; sadly to no avail as we subsequently found it was broken on return to Blighty and had to be replaced.
Although we've never stayed on a CL we feel from what we've read of them that this site is just like one. Just six pitches for vans and two for tents in a reasonably sized flat field with plenty of room for all. No strict Caravan Club rules here as to which way round you must pitch!
There is a small shower block in the middle of the field housing two WCs (one disabled), two showers, two wash basins (although neither private) and one small washing up area. Although we were only passing through, having holidayed in the area before, we know there is a lot to visit and see and it would certainly provide the basis for a complete two week holiday.
The nearby town of La Haye du Puits has everything you need with a busy market but also a large hypermarket on the edge of town. It has a number of restaurants and Mark and Mel are happy to provide their thoughts on which ones to try. We ate at Le Commerce which is patronised by the locals, is very good value and worth trying just to see your steaks being cooked in the restaurant over an open wood fire. The walk from town to campsite was a bit too long for us being over a mile and, for the return journey, being entirely uphill on an unlit country road with no pavements. Probably best to walk or drive in and get a taxi for the return leg if the driver wants to sample the wine.
The overnight fee for van, two adults and electricity was 17 euros and we understand this is the same whether it is low, mid or high (when we stayed) season.
Would have no hesitation in staying there again or in recommending others to do so.

Idyllic! We went with friends, and from the time of booking, Mark and Mel were so helpful. We had reserved pitches so that we could all be together. Would thoroughly recommend this campsite as it is so peaceful, well cared for and clean. Mark and Mel are fabulous hosts and the showers/toilets are spotless. They've even provided a small fridge for everyone to use. Our 2 kids loved it here and we loved it as they could play safely and we could see where they were at all times. A great base with some superb nearby beaches (5 mins by car) and restaurants (again by car). Local Carrefour and Intermarche - must say we preferred Intermarche as it had a better deli counter and fresh fruit/veg. Very relaxing, will definitely come back. Thank you.

Booked for 4 nights but ended up staying for 7 as the site is so pretty and tranquil - nothing but the sound of birdsong to disturb you!
Beautifully kept facilities with a great range of local information and leaflets in the pretty washblock. We appreciated the fridge - particularly thoughtful of owners Mel and Mark given that I imagine most of the visitors are in caravans/motorhomes and have their own facilities.
La Haye de Puits is a good base for visiting the area and with plenty of decent shops and supermarkets. We had bikes with us and made good use of the local cycle tracks that Mel and Mark told us about.
We hope to visit again as it's without doubt one of the loveliest sites we've visited in over 10 years of camping!

This is the ideal site for an in-depth introduction to France being very close to the cross channel ferries in Western Normandy. Mark and Mel gave us a very warm welcome and helped with some technical issues as, being bi-lingual, they could intercede when language problems arose in local dealerships! The facilities were kept immaculate and the site was very tranquil with clean, local deserted beaches only 5 miles away. A great holiday spot with local shops and supermarkets only 10 minutes away.

As mentioned in previous reviews the warm welcome from Mark and Mel made you feel instantly at home on their beautiful site. Excellent facilities and certainly for us, with two dogs to exercise and a wish to see the Normandy beaches, a perfect location.
This was our first caravan trip to France and Mark and Mel gave us lots of helpful advice. We spent five fun packed days based at this lovely location then travelled on to Brittany. We subsequently decided to stop off en route back just overnight to break the return journey and Mark came to the rescue when we were having problems with charging our caravan battery. Embarrassingly - it was just a fuse which had gone! We still have lots to learn about our Eriba! Mark gave us very useful tips, which were invaluable.
We only ate out three times during our two week holiday, two of the times being at the lovely restaurant - La Commerce in La Haye du Puits, which Mark & Mel had recommended for the steaks cooked on an open wood fire - perfect.
We highly recommend this site to you - you will not be disappointed.

We stayed on this site for 3 weeks and it is the best small site we've ever used. Very helpful, friendly owners, well laid out site & beautifully maintained. The toilets & showers are immaculate with plenty of hot water. La Haye du Puits has all the shops etc anyone could need and the site is in a good location to see many points of interest as well as D-Day beaches. We will definitely be making a return visit.

We have just arrived home after a 5 day stay at La Bucaille. I can only reiterate everything that has been said before about the site. It's probably one of the nicest we have every stayed on; and I have been camping since I was a child. The owners certainly make you feel so welcome and both come out to meet you when you arrive for the first time. The site is very pretty and with immaculate toilets and showers. Both are very well thought out to give you that extra bit of privacy and room!
We certainly will go back again and hope to stay longer next time but will most likely go across to Cherbourg, as it is quite a journey down from Calais. There are some lovely places to visit from the site and 5 days was not long enough. If you want peace and quiet with just bird song to listen to this is the place to visit.

This was the 2nd site we have visited in France, but simply the best and not only that, it was by far the best site we have ever visited and was better than any CL site we have used in the UK.
We received a very warm welcome the minute we drove onto the site and Mel and Mark could not have been any more helpful.
What a site. It was extremely well kept with excellent clean facilities. Even Green Chemical was provided to ensure that the disposal system maintained its functionality.
The site was very quiet, very tranquil with lots of wild flora and fauna and some nice walks available too. La Haye du Puit is very close for everything you want, and the site is well placed for various visits throughout the Cherbourg penisular and its great beaches the nearest being just 6 miles away. Access from the main routes is very good on the very quiet, well maintained roads.
Would we visit the site again, oh YES! Criticisms NONE, we wouldn't even have contemplated it.
