This was our first venture abroad in our new motorhome. Mel and Mark's small CL type site was perfect for us. The toilets and showers were clean and the water was hot. A very picturesque secluded site but only a 25 min walk to nearby La-Haye-Du-Puits where there is a supermarket, several restaurants and many shops. We stayed at the site for one night on roue to Brittany and again for one night on the way back home. We dined at the excellent restaurant Pom Cannelle on both occasions. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer at this lovely site and explore more of the area. It looks good for cycling and walking to nearby coastal villages.

We stayed at La Bucaille for 4 nights at the end of August 2016. Before we arrived at the site, Mark and Mel were very efficient and helpful regarding booking and the queries I had. The site itself houses only 6 pitches in a beautiful orchard which sits alongside the Gite and Mark and Mel's home. The showers and toilets are cleaned regularly and there is good arrangement for rubbish disposal including dogs' mess. Mark regularly cuts the grass and the site is kept in very good condition. The site is within a few minutes drive from La Haye du Puits - a lovely little bustling town, with a magnificent church. The town has everything you could need, plus free parking - something we got used to in France! The nearest beach is about 10 mins drive - a beautiful unspoilt stretch of sand that is used by the locals - for swimming and launching their fishing boats. A lovely relaxing stay in beautiful surroundings, thank you Mark and Mel.

We have just returned from a 2-week holiday in France and wanted to let you know that we were really impressed with La Bucaille. We had only booked for two nights as we were on our way down to the Golfe de Morbihan but we will certainly be returning in the future and may even hire the gite at some point. The site is very well maintained, quiet and offers excellent clean facilities. The plots are of good size and level. The owners, Mark and Mel, are very friendly and helpful and the site is in an ideal spot for easy access to the town. We have no hesitation in recommending this small friendly site to anyone who is travelling in this area. Thank you Mark and Mel for making the start to our holiday a very enjoyable one. We wish we had booked for longer but we will return!

We stayed here just one night on a cycle-camping tour of Normandy. It's a beautiful site: small, quiet and friendly with very helpful owners. If you're after the full swimming-pool/disco experience, it probably isn't for you. But if you want a peaceful campsite in a lovely setting, you won't do better.
We've put N/A for child-friendliness because we didn't take kids with us and can't really comment.
Pricing per night is low. Facilities are pristine. Mark found me a size 10 hex key to fix the loose kickstand on my bike.
Definitely worth booking in advance, because there aren't many pitches. We tried to go here in 2015 but the site was full.

We, 2 adults, spent 2 lovely weeks at this small campsite and we had a lovely time! Large pitch, clean sanitary, very quiet, very friendly owners Mark and Mel. Supermarket only 5 minutes away, where there's also the possibility of doing some washing. Lovely peaceful beaches only about 15 minutes drive away. Some nice restaurants in the town La Haye du Puits (5 minutes drive). It is quite central for visiting bigger towns, lovely coast villages and also for the D-Day museums and beaches.
We will definitely return here some day!

Just had 2 weeks at this lovely secluded woodland site, Mark & Mel work tirelessly in making sure this six ehu site is well kept, and everyone receives a warm welcome, nothing is too much trouble. Both are very helpful knowledgeable about the Normandy area, they have lots of leaflets and information on display on things to do places to visit etc. The site has 2
Toilets and showers which are regularly cleaned and more than adequate, nice touch with the air freshners in the loos and in the washing up area, the use of a fridge for campers to keep food and wine, beers chilled.
We met some lovely people who return back year after year.
Hopefully we wont be too long in booking our return to meet up again at this quaint petite gem, , , Merci Carol & Darryl

We have just returned to the UK after another visit to Mark and Mel's lovely site in Normandy. We first visited 3 years ago. The weather was not particularly kind to us which was disappointing but did not stop us getting out and about to all the wonderful locations available within a reasonable distance for great day trips out. We visited Mont St Michel - which was magical and a must do!
The site is beautifully maintained by Mark and Mel who are always on hand with helpful advice. Being a small site, with the feel of an orchard, it is cosy and has all you need for a comfortable stay.
Our friends accompanied us this time and stayed in the Gite on the same site, which was very handy and so this option is great when holidaying with friends who do not camp or enjoy the delights of caravanning! The Gite is really nicely presented with a lovely log burner and BBQ which despite inclement weather, we were able to use with our friends!
The Tour de France was actually passing through the local town of Hays de Puit so there was much excitement and lots of bunting out with all the locals entering into the spirit of the occasion.
The local beaches are superb (particularly for dog walking) and of course the famous Normandy beaches are not far away either with all the history and fascinating museums to explore.
You will not be disappointed in visiting this site! Mark and Mel will give you a very warm welcome.

Recently returned from 10 days at this absolute gem of a site. Recommended by a colleague it was our first trip abroad with our caravan and we are so glad that we decided to take the plunge and chose La Bucaille to stay at.
We sailed Poole - Cherbourg and then the site is an easy 45 minute run along very quiet roads. Thanks to Mark & Mel's detailed instructions we had no problems at all locating the site once we reached La Haye du Puits the nearest town (about 5 mins drive away). This is a small CL/CS style site with 6 large grass pitches, you have access to EHU and free wifi (should you want it). Two unisex showers are available in the facilities block and we never had to queue the whole time we were there. The showers and toilets were also kept very clean which was an almost never ending task given the rather inclement weather. There is also an undercover washing up sink and fridge available should you need them.
The site is ideally placed for exploring western Normandy and the D Day beaches there is so much to do locally we ran out of time (excellent excuse for a return visit). La Haye du Puits has all the facilities you need including 2 supermarkets and lots of other lovely shops and restaurants to try out.
Mark & Mel (the owners) are very friendly and helpful, they made us feel very welcome when we arrived and were mines of information about places to go and restaurants to try. Mark also helped sort a problem with our water pump whilst we were they for which we were very grateful.
We had an absolutely wonderful holiday at this site and we will definitely be back - highly recommended.

We have just spent 5 nights at this lovely little site. We received a warm welcome from Mel n Mark who were very informative of the local area and amenities.
We had a slight problem with our van n Mark was most helpful and loaned us the tools to rectify the problem, being a caravan engineer!
The site is only 6km from the most wonderful peaceful beaches. Our dogs were most impressed!
The town of Le haye du puis will have everything you will need and it's only 1. 5k away.
Despite the town being quite close this is a very quiet peaceful site and we would highly recommend it to anyone
We are in process of buying a property in France and will definitely stay there again when we need to return. Thanks for everything. Ann n Tim
