We were touring Normandy in our Motorhome when our water pump stopped working. Google came up with the only Caravan/Motorhome service Engineer in France - hence they came into our life & to our rescue! He not only repaired our pump but told us of their lovely campsite. As we were leaving our present site next day, we thought we'd pay La Bucaille a visit.
We were delighted! What a truly beautiful site - everything you need & spotlessly clean with a full 16amp + lovely hot showers!
Cannot recommend this site highly enough - The owners are such welcoming hosts & he was incredibly helpful with our endless van problems!
We've also told our *non camper' relatives about their Gite. Will definitely return if in the area.

La Bucaille is a lovely sheltered site, small with generous emplacement clearly marked & easily accessed hook-up. Owners are charming and not overbearing but helpful and kind, it was clear they want their campers to fully enjoy their stay. The facilities block was always clean and cared for. The surrounding area is lovely; an estuary with sand & lots of wild life interest is quite close by & in September was more or less deserted. The local town of LHP is delightful for provisions or just sauntering. We spent 5 days in the area, there are plenty of places to visit - sorry, we don't keep a diary so cannot be specific but Mark or Mel are helpful with information and suggestions. We had a lovely time.

Just spent a lovely five days at La Bucaille, and will most definitely be visiting again. The site is very well kept and in a tranquil location, albeit only a mile or so from the local shops. The owners Mark and Mel where the perfect hosts being extremely helpful, and the welcome we received was second to none. The shower block and toilets were immaculately clean, and there is plenty of space between each pitch. Mark and Mel should be very proud of what they have achieved at La Bucaille, as it is a lovely peaceful and relaxing place to stay. It comes highly recommended from us.

Lovely CL type site set in lovely contryside with just six large pitches. The site itself is in an orchard and has immaculate facilities. The owners Marc and Mel are very welcoming and helpful- and a real bonus is that Marc is a caravan engineer!
The local town is only a mile or so a away and everything you need.
A great site if you love peace and quiet in attractive French countryside. Highly recommended

We stayed at this site for two nights. Mel and Mark were lovely hosts - very friendly and welcoming. The weather wasn't brilliant and a bolt of lightening took our battery charger out, along with whole site - sorry Mark! It was fixed (the site, not our charger) seconds later, and it gave us a chance to have a long chat with Mark over a couple of glasses of red - what a lovely man. A small site with a great CL type feel. Can't comment on surrounding area, as we drove to Bayeux and Omaha Beach as the weather was so bad, but we would love to revisit the site in better weather!

We arrived for a few days after the mad July/August rush was over (booking vital in those months) and as commented below, found a nice quiet grassed level area licensed for 6 pitches. There were only 3 units there at the time so plenty of space, and even with 6 units everything looked still spacious for kids to play. Mel and Mark are very welcoming and well informed, keeping all the facilities clean and tidy on a daily basis. Although the website pictures make the campsite look a bit plain, the overall feel is of being in an apple orchard, sheltered by trees and beautifully quiet. Perfect for our needs. We took bikes as we found the site was only a mile away from the cross roads of the French green cycle lanes enabling us to head off for the day. These lanes were again very quiet linking hamlets together and suitable for children. The town itself services most needs (supermarket/market/usual shops) and although the site is a few miles from the coast it provides fantastic value for money if you don't want the big commercial package. For that reason we loved it!

We had a great stay at La Bucaille, set in beautiful countryside, the campsite having only 9 pitches was perfect for us, as our children were allowed to wander safely, which made our stay more enjoyable!
Mel and Mark were very welcoming (it felt as though we were visiting old friends!) They gave us lots of information regarding the nearby town Le Haye Du Puits and the great beach at Barneville Carteret.
The site was very clean and well kept, the shower block and toilets were centrally located, so only a hop to the loo in the middle of the night!
We would highly recommend a stay at La Bucaille, we will definitely return. Maybe to one of their on site gites in the spring, if not then, next summer.

Lovely little site set in beautiful country side and some nice gold sand beeches not to far away. The owners are very welcoming and friendly. The shower and toilets are kept clean and tidy. The site itself is set in a small orchard. There's a swing on one of the trees for the kids to play on which they enjoyed. There's no water or waste hook up on the site, you have to collect and dispose of water etc. Using the facilities provided around the shower blocks, but it is worth the sacrifice to be on such a nice quiet site. We would definitely go again hopefully next year.

Excellent site with just 6/7 pitches which means early booking is recommended. The pitches are spacious and suitable even for large units although the main entrance is restricted to a width of 3 metres. The site is level and all grass with no hard standings.
The owners Mark and Mel gave us a very warm welcome with helpful information and even offered to help us set up.
The shower, toilet and cleaning block is conveniently centrally positioned, very clean and well maintained. Electric hookups close to pitch.
The site is conveniently located within easy reach of local amenities, shops, beaches and local attractions as well as the main attractions of the Normandy landing beaches, Mont St Michel and Bayeaux.
The ferry ports of Cherbourg and Caen are also nearby.
This is a lovely quiet site that is excellent value for money that comes highly recommended.

If you are looking for a quiet tranquil camp site close to local amenities but far enough to be quiet 'La Bucaille' is for you
Hosts Mark and Mel were there to greet us on our arrival and were very friendly, they were also
Very helpful and informative about the area. Weather reports posted in the toilet block with plenty of visitor attraction leaflets.
The camp site is well maintained, toilet blocks are cleaned thoroughly every day. Well done Mark!
Plots sizes are very good, plenty of room for our 6 man tent and space for our car.
Hired bikes from the camp site with the offer of bike helmets and found lovely safe cycle path to Portbail.
La Haye De Puit has several boulangeries (for your morning pain au chocolat and fresh bread), restaurants, banks and a good market on Wednesdays There is a Intermarche, Aldi and Carrefour
La Bucaille is close to several very nice beaches Barnville Carteret is worth a visit. D Day landing beaches and Bayeux tapestry are all in close reach.
We stayed for ten days and will definitely be back next year. We are recommending this camp site to friends and family.
