My family and I received the warmest of welcomes from Mark and Melanie. They were always on hand to answer our queries and were the perfect hosts throughout our stay.
The campsite is relatively small with only six pitches, but this adds to it's indisputable charm and character. Everyone had more than enough room, with a large area left for our children to play and spread their wings safely.
The toilets and shower block are immaculate and are maintained in perfect condition. It's obvious that much care, attention and love have gone into Mark and Melanie's project and it is a great credit to them both.
The surrounding area had so many attractive features, from quiet, secluded beaches, bustling market towns and cycle paths perfect for families and cycling enthusiasts alike.
In my camping experience, there are only a handful of sites that I would visit again without hesitation. This is one of the best. A little piece of heaven.

Firstly, the site:
Very pretty site, set amoungst cidre apple trees, with nice flowers and shrubs.
Lovely rural, peaceful, location. Pleasant town with lots of shops, bars and restaurants. Excellent supermarkets which will meet all your needs. Beautiful, sandy beaches within 3 miles. Very good road network, enabling you to reach all places of interest within 40 mins. Showers and toilets always spotless with lots of hot water at all times.
Nice mix of nationalities. During our stay, we met English, Irish, Belguim, and Dutch visitors.
Next, the owners:
What an exceptional couple Mel and Mark are!
We limped onto site after experiencing car trouble on our journey. They couldn't have been more helpful, supportive, and kind. We practically took up residence in their beautiful home during our stay as we had to make numerous phone calls to sort everything out, they maintained their sense of humour at all times even when we had lost ours! Mark even took us shopping to stock up when we had no transport, they both went above and beyond the call of duty, we will always be grateful.
We cannot wait to return to this lovely site again, and cannot recommend it highly enough.

On arrival at La Bucaille my first words were that the site and its situation were far in excess of my expectations, it goes without saying that the shower and toilet block was kept to a very high standard ( well done Mark). We stayed three weeks it was the best holiday we have had in France, our hosts Mel & Mark were delightful and always willing to give every possible assistance.
It was a delight to cycle on the country lanes totally free of potholes, the local town of La Haye is very nice and within walking distance of the site, a good choice of restaurants and cafes also 3 good supermarkets.
The site is ideally situated on the Cotentin Peninsula for visiting the entire area, we covered the area from Cherbourg to Mon St Michelle and from Barneville Carteret to Caen.
We will certainly be returning to La Bucaille for our next holiday in France.

On arrival my first words were that the site exceeded my expectations, we were warmly welcomed by Mark & Mel. We stayed for 3 weeks which I think says it all. Beautifully kept orchard site, the toilets and showers were kept to a very high standard. ( well done Mark).
The site is ideally situated for exploring the Cotentin Peninsula and all the Normandy beaches.
The site is situated in beautiful countryside lots of lanes ideal for walking and cycling, we did both, the local town of Le Haye is very attractive with 3 supermarkets on the outskirts of the town.
I was even able to get BBC and ITV from Jersey on my digital Stratos530 ariel.
We came into Le Harve on LD lines on the Norman Arrow and it was just a steady drive of 2hrs 30 mins to La Bucaille. The only downside was that we had to come home, however the upside was the 42 bottles of Roche Mazet Merlo that balanced the van up on the return journey.
Very Many thanks to Mark & Mel for a wonderful holiday we hope to see you again next year.

The bad bit first:- we had to leave and come home!
If you can find a better site any were in France I really would like to see it. The facilities are absolutely spotless and Mel and Mark are such good hosts nothing is too much trouble. A knight in shining armour Mark rode to the rescue of one poor sole hopelessly lost in La Haye du Puits (I had left all the directions at home all I had was the zone code and a phone number) three weeks simply flew by and there are places left to visit that means we shall have to return again to La Bucaille. Don't be in a hurry to just blast through to the Loire or the Dordogne linger a while in Normandy and specifically La Bucaille believe me you will not be sorry.
The wifi now reaches all of the site.
Once again Mel and Mark big thank you and keep the cidre cold we will be back.
Good luck and best wishes,

We stayed at La Bucaille on our drive home to the UK from Mallorca.
Our booking enquiry was dealt with immediately with lots of help and advice via emails regarding entering the UK with our dog etc.
On arrival we were welcomed by Mel and given the choice of pitches available, a quick tour and told if we had any problems/questions just to give her a shout.
The toilets and showers were always immaculate. There was also a good supply of leaflets/books/maps on places of local interest and forthcoming events.
The campsite was in a beautiful rural setting with lots of lovely walks and only a short trip to the nearest town, which was great especially on market day - beware of the cider stall, he's very generous with the free samples!
Mel was really helpful, printing off travel documents for us, recommending her local vet etc etc. We hope to return this year and use La Bucaille as a base for more exploring of the region.

Would recommend this site & town as a base for exploring Normandy. We visited this site with our two small children, our first trip abroad with the campervan & children!
The site was in a beautiful rural setting, facilities clean & tidy; we arrived in between other campers departing & arriving, so effectively had the place to ourselves for a couple of days, which allowed the children a great sense of freedom exploring, playing and collecting cider apples but the site was small enough we could see what they were up to!
Mark & Melanie were really helpful & welcoming. Colin particularly appreciated sampling the cider and thanks for freezing the iceblocks.!

The site is immaculate and as it was empty we had any pitch to choose from. The toilets and shower rooms kept clean as if by magic. Set in an orchard often the only noise was the drop of an apple to the ground which was very calming.
We travelled the length and breadth of Normandy from this site and an easy drive to and from the port. We chose not to eat out much but enjoyed a fantastic dinner at Le Commerce. Supermarkets abound and there were plenty drinking places a (good) walk from the site. We didn't bother.
Perhaps charging for wifi over the top. The signal was very poor and some days I couldn't get it at all. Very annoying as it was a requirement for my break away. Balancing my laptop on top of bins is not my idea of access.

We stayed on this site for nearly a week. It is a delightful small site in an old orchard of cider apple trees. The facilities are adequate for this size of site and the site is wonderfully located just outside La Haye du Puits which is within walking distance. It is also well situated for visiting such tourist attractions as the Bayeux tapestry and La Mont Saint Michel. We would certainly recommend staying here. The owners, Mel and Mark, are very friendly and accommodating. We would not hesitate to return.

Thank you to Mark & Mel. The best site by far during our 11 nights in France.
The pitches are very generous and the toilets and showers were brilliant.
We have a motorhome and drove to the many beaches nearby where we were able to park easily practically on the beach at most.
We picked mussels off the beach and then sat in the car park where we cooked and ate them.
La-Haye-Du-Puits is lovely with plenty of restaurants and shops.
We will definitely be going back next year and hopefully taken the dogs as there are a couple of vets in La-Haye-Du-Puits.
