A lovely site, great location and very helpful owners. Fresh eggs were good too! Facilities were kept spotlessly clean. Access to the site may be a bit daunting to in-experienced towers, but don't be put off, it's worth it.
Local beaches are fantastic, although it would appear the locals don't agree because they are deserted!

A lovely site with extremely good clean facilities. The owners were very friendly and helpful with lots of knowledge of the local area. La Huye du Puits has everything you need for everyday supplies including three supermarkets and a weekly market. There is a beautiful beach within 8 kilometres on which you can take a dog without a leash. The local attractions are all within easy reach and there is a cycle route very close, ideal for children. There is a local vet in the village if you have taken your dog with you.

Ever been sceptical about campsite reviews? Do not be sceptical about these, the reviews do 'exactly what they say on the tin'. We stayed with Mark and Mel for almost a month during the 'D Day' 70th celebrations. What a brilliant site, excellent facilities and superb hosts. Free Wi-Fi and free range eggs! Brilliant, we will be back.

We echo all previous comments! A super site, meticulously maintained by the delightful owners. We loved the area, so much to see and do, our dogs adored the beaches for free running. Judging by all previous reviewers and our own intentions, there's going to be a scrum to get future bookings! Thank you Mark and Mel for a fabulous stay!

A beautiful camp site in lovely surroundings. An ideal spot for a quiet holiday fairly close to a golden sandy beach. We used it as a base to go to the Normandy beaches and museums of Utah and Omaha for the D. Day commemorations. The interesting town of La Haye-de-Puits is a short drive away or if you are feeling energetic it can be walked. There were five of us in our party and we all found the facilities provided were perfect, even down to a fridge, if you required it.

Where do I start. Fair play to the owners the place is a credit to there hard work. It's so peaceful and clean. With the rain it's still a gem. They're on hand should you need anything. The place is easy to get to from cherbourg. Plenty of shops to choose from. Market day on Wednesday. People are very friendly and helpful. Keep up the good work. Will be back next year

The site was more than we could have hoped for. If you like CL type sites, this will be perfect for you. The site is set in beautiful country side but still within walking distance of the local town and a short drive to a local beach.
The site is well maintained, level, well tended grass with spacious pitches.
The toilet block is well maintained and clean, although a little heating at this time of year would have been welcome.
The owners Mark and Mel could not have been more helpful.
A week was just not long enough and we will be going back.

Having read the reviews, we were quite excited at the prospect of 18 nights at La Bucaille. We like to tour a local area in our Smart car. Suffice to say in no way were we disappointed; the campsite was immaculate and indicative of the love and hard work Mark and Mel have applied to make this the best small site we have visited in almost 10 years. With their warm welcome, we felt immediately at home. They could not have been more helpful and friendly. The 'facilities' block was exceptional - with plenty of light-sensors enabling easy use during darkness. The cassette emptying point was smarter than many a toilet we've experienced elsewhere! We also loved their two Weimaraners, Millie & Mica. Points already made by other reviewers, about local facilities, nearby beaches, access to interesting areas further afield, are all valid. We loved this area of Normandy and would not hesitate to stay with Mark and Mel again, nor to recommend their outstanding campsite!

We have just returned from 4 days at La Bucaille and we cannot speak highly enough of both the site and Mark& Mel, the owners. They made us most welcome on the 2 occasions we visited this holiday and our 2 dogs were not a problem either! As we were on our way back to Ireland, we needed to attend a vet for the dogs' passports. Mark provided us not only with a vet's name but also his card and a map of the town and showed us the location. His knowledge of caravans is very useful also though I hope we never need it!
I was most impressed at how they had set up this business in a foreign country and that they were involving themselves in the life around them.
The facilities on site are spotless and very handy too. The pitches are larger than uk but the usual french size.
The location is so peaceful with plenty of walking for the dogs in fields nearby and also great dunes and beaches at Bretteville. The town of La Haye du Puits is only 2 km away and has all the shops/restaurants/market etc one could need. With very little traffic around, it was safe to exercise the dogs and also to cycle into nearby Montgardon, a quaint little village, typically French.
On our departure day, Mark & Mel both came to say Au Revoir and indeed we intend to!

We stayed at La Bucaille for a long weekend in early September, and La Bucaille exceeded our expectations in every regard.
We chose La Bucaille because it is in contrast to the vast holiday-camp style sites else where, and it is very peaceful. It is well away from any busy roads, and sheltered from high winds by apple trees on all sides.
The location is excellent, with the local town (about 2km away) offering a choice of three supermarkets (although we were caught out by opening times!), multiple restaurants and other shops. It's also within easy reach of Mont St Michel (1. 5 hrs), Utah beach (<1 hr), and Bayeux (1. 5 hrs) which we made the most of :-)
The facilities are immaculately clean and well maintained, with some added extras that we weren't expecting. There is a fridge, a couple of picnic benches for eating at, lots of leaflets/brochures/maps etc, and a rope swing.
Mel and Mark are very friendly and eager to offer advice on the local attractions. We had our bikes with us, and they took the time to explain and direct us towards the local cycle tracks.
If we visit the area again, we will definitely stay at La Bucaille, and wish that we could take it with us to visit other areas!
