Straight off, don't even try to pitch here in a tent without rock pegs. You can kiss bye bye to other pegs.

That said, Ullapool is a cracking wee town. Typical Highland fishing town (I may be biased her, I grew up in one) so very friendly, good craic in the pubs. Non drink related I recommend the One Eyed Yellow Buddha (AKA the Himalayan Craft Exhibition) if it's on for some Nepal made goodies.

Facilities decent, can't complain, nothing special but nothing bad. Allows hookup in tents (my first time trying). Friendly ravens! Yes, ravens. No bugger from staff on site half the time though, and quite an industrial feel as a result. Quite happy to take the money but no interest in the people they are taking it off.

This is a huge site over looking the sea. Can be blustery at the front but lovely views of the boats and ferry sailing past. Facilities are old but serviceable and everything was in working order. Used the laundry, and it was fine too. Easy walk into Ullapool with shops and restaurants. Supermarket was a bit more difficult to find, but we fitted in a tour of the museum ( most interesting) on the way there.

Used as a base while motorbiking in the area. Stayed for 2 nights. This is our 6th year of touring and we always stay at this site. Excellent views, 5 min walk away from town with great pubs and the best fish and chips in Scotland.

Whilst the campsite is good, they need to spend some money on the toilets. The first time I came here was about 20 years ago and I believe nothing has been upgraded. It is drafty, cold and dark. We would have stayed longer but went elsewhere so that we could have a warm shower. Upgrade the toilets please.

Stopped here one night, doing the NC500. There's a relaxed informal feel to this site, no long list of rules, honesty box if there's no-one in the office (£22 for grass pitch & EHU, same as an Inverness site. ) You do need a very long cable -there were enough hook-ups, but they're not along the shore where it's designated for hook ups only so the cable has to trail across the track. Cracking views, the sound of lapping waves, sun twinkling on the water - what's not to like? plus very close to a town that has a real buzz to it (being a hot sunny day probably helped). The breeze kept the midges away, but when I was sat outside reading at 11:30 pm (midsummer light), the wind dropped & the midges were brutal. Dog walking just beyond the site at the back of the stony beach, very convenient. We'd come back for sure.

Great location within Ullapool; right next to the shore with spectacular views. Plenty of level pitches but a bit muddy after rain, and not enough hook-ups - some pitches require you to trail your lead across the track so take a long lead and a rubber cable protector.

Very relaxed checkin; if no-one there just pitch and pay in the morning.

Facilities fine. Very handy for Ullapool and the Stornoway ferry. Good local walks; dog friendly.

This site is expensive, £21 per unit per night. Cables have to be trailed across the roadway to hook up, the amenity block is old and cold and badly in need of an update. No one checks on where units are parked, we had a foreign motorhome park a couple of metres away. The driver was not happy to be told this was not allowed. The site needs properly designated spaces, preferably hardstandings. The site is in a wonderful position, there are great views and the town is only a few minutes walk away. The office is only open for a short while each day so customer service is hard to come by.

Just stayed a couple of nights over Easter. The site is in a great position for Ullapool less than 5 minutes walk to the centre. The toilet and showers are old, the shower block was freezing no heating, the hot water was just lukewarm. They need to start putting in hard standing pitches ideally, we saw a few people who needed to be towed from their pitch when leaving.

Like many, we stayed here for a couple of nights whilst waiting for the ferry to Stornoway. The site is very close to the town with it's excellent selection of shops and pubs etc. There's even a Tesco's (unofficial short cut over the fence behind children's play area). We spent a day exploring Ullapool and found plenty to do and see.

The campsite facilities can only be described as OK - the olive green sinks and drafty shower's require updating, but everything's serviceable and there was friendly feel to the place. The site is fairly open to the front and there are good views out across the loch with hills behind.

We stayed here for one night. It is situated right by the sea. And within walking distance of the town for food. Drinks. Shopping. A nice site. Reasonable price. Good toilet/shower block. Nice to go to sleep with the sound of the waves. Good views of the mountain. I would stay here again as its close to the town and is in a nice spot.

During our cycle trip around the north of Scotland we stopped by ullapool and thought the surroundings where very very stunning. The camp wasn't over crowded and we all felt safe leaving our tent when we went out to dinner. I am looking forward to heading back to the camp site in the near future when the weather picks up again.
