Stayed here for one night, having arrived off the Stornoway ferry. About half the site was roped off - presumably as it's still low season.
Reception was closed and no one appeared until about 9. 30am the next day - so we were unable to borrow/use a cable cover to protect our electric cable as it crossed the road - same applied to several others.
We were lucky enough to have a pitch on the loch side - it was beautiful, and the sunset to die for. Facilities at the site were good, although as mentioned before, reception was closed most of the time.
Ullapool is delightful and a short walk. Plenty of pubs / restaurants and interesting shops, but not 'touristy'.
Whichever way you drive/sail away from this site, the scenery is stunning!

This site is on the edge of Ullapool, overlooking Loch Broom and surrounded by beautiful scenery. The lovely little town is easily accessed within a few minutes on foot which is the great advantage of this location. There are a number of eating/carry out places nearby.
The site was quiet when I visited, with lots of space. The pitches at the front of the site, overlooking the water, are for EHU users. There is a large, open, level grassy area further back if no electric is required.
There had been recent rain and the ground had been churned up in places by vehicles. A car in front of me drove onto the grass and immediately got bogged down in mud and had to be pulled out by tractor. This must be a regular problem as the number to call for the tractor is displayed at reception. I left my car in a small parking area at the entrance to the site. However, by the next day cars were driving onto the grass without problems.
As other reviews have mentioned, the ground is very hard under the surface, although I managed to drive in ordinary pegs and Deltas, and didn't need to use my rock pegs.
Toilet facilities were very clean. 6 showers, 8 basins, 10 toilets (but only one hand dryer) in the Ladies. There is a power socket beside one of the mirrors - handy for a hairdryer. Showers take 20p coins and I found two to be plenty. The water wasn't particularly hot, only just adequate, and the toilet block itself was on the chilly side. The block also houses a laundry and dishwashing area.
The site doesn't take bookings, so you can just turn up and pitch. Fees are collected in the morning.
There is a very small children's play area at one side of the site. A stony beach runs between the pitches and the loch.

This was our first camping trip as a family so we didn't want to travel too far. ( its only 60 mile away ). I've got to say that we loved it. Facilities were very good, Nice level piches, And views to die for.
Ullapool itself was lovely. Really don't know why we haven't visited before. A few nice little tea rooms and chip shops. A very good little tesco hidden away.
The site itself was very good. Only a few niggles.
1, As someone else has said 2 inch under the top soil is solid rock. I had bought decent pegs before because of the reviews. Didn'rt make a bit of difference. You really need 6 inch nails.
2, The playground ( I use the word loosely ) was terrible. A slide, couple of old tractor tyres, A fence and see saws. Thats all. Not what I would call an adventure playground.
The man in his van was very polite and talkative. No faults with him at all.
Apart from all the noise from the local pub on Saturday night, We had a lovely weekend. Cant wait to go back next season. Might try a few other places first though.
Any Suggestions would be more than welcome.

We stayed over in a tent for one night on a road trip around Scotland. As mentioned in other reviews the site is in a great location with water on both side of the site. The ground is very rocky and we also had problems getting pegs into the grounds (had to leave almost half of the peg showing).
The facilities were very clean and well looked after. The showers were free and the water was very hot and did not run out. Toilets and sinks were also clean and well looked after
The pot washing area was indoors and again there was sufficient hot water to do the job.
Admittedly the site was very very quiet in (only 3 other tents) so we did not experience some of the negative sides mentioned (overcrowding etc)
The only real negative was I found the site a little expensive (for a tiny 2 man tent) as camp sites go but given the ample free hot water and location I would definitely stay again

We spent 2 nights here without a hook up and the sunny weather got the campers out. Despite the amount of campers there the shower block did not get over crowded and 20p gave you long enough for a good shower.
But what spectacular views you get from your tent when you wake up in a morning, Wow!
Some people had mesh mossie hats on but we just sprayed insect repellent and it kept the mossies away.
A short walk to the shops and a bakery van that comes round every morning selling various breads and pies. Absolutely no need to cook at all.

We look forward to our annual trip to Broomfield and have always been very lucky and got a pitch right on the front. Yes, you do need a cable protector (we bring our own) but the site do not charge you for these as another review said, they ask you for a 'cost price' deposit which is returned to you at the end of your stay.
The owners are a lovely couple who are more than helpful. They do collect pitch fees at 9am but this is only if you have not gone to reception between 3 & 5pm to pay, so if you do not want to get up early, pay the afternoon before!
Someone else mentioned there is a 20p charge for the showers but it means that people are quick in the showers and therefore no queues. Hot water is always plentiful.
As other people have said, there is a lack of marked pitches and people do try and squeeze in, something we combat by strategically placed windbreaks! Just remember, it is not the site but your fellow caravanners and campers who are ignorant enough to do this, the site does ask that you leave 3 metres between yourself and your neighbour and we did see them tell someone the had to move as they were too close.
Ullapool has loads to do, from boat trips, drives to beautiful beaches (Achnahaird and Gruinard in particular), hill walks or simply enjoying the world go by, or the ferry come in from a stunningly placed campsite.
Lots of 'touristy' shops on Shore Street and some very nice pubs/restaurants all within walking distance from the site. Personally, I would avoid the Indian at the gate, compared to Glasgow curries this was very poor though the Chinese take away beside Tesco is excellent.
A fantastic spot for a holiday and if you are lucky you will get the chance to enjoy a breathtaking sunset over the Summer Isles.

We stayed here when visiting friends who were staying in a nearby holiday house. The proximity to the town was brilliant and easy walking distance from a decent sized Tesco which is surprisingly hidden away down a side street!
Location was fantastic, but we were disappointed by the overcrowding of motorhomes and caravans for the electric hookups and therefore the views, it seemed a bit like a carpark. We opted to go without electric, so we were able to park right at the back of the site (nearest the town and furthest from the sea!) We did have a lot of rain and had a slight difficulty pulling away on the wet grass after the van sat there for 2 nights.
The man who came to collect the money in the morning was perfectly civil and we have no complaints on that front. It is quite 'quaint' as someone else mentioned that you can pitch up and pay later, but I also felt it meant I needed to be up and dressed by 9am (I would have preferred to have still been in my pjs!).
The facilities seemed OK (although we used the ones in our friends holiday home!), but they appeared clean and to provide the necessities.
I have to admit that we wouldn't have chosen to remain at this site when we pulled up if it was not for the proximity to our friends; we would normally choose smaller sites, but we had a pleasant stay with no complaints.

Arrived during heavy rain and the site was quite waterlogged. Would have appreciated some hard standing. In the end we chose a pitch without hookup right by the loch and fortunately did not get bogged down.
Facilities were ok and the toilet block was clean and tidy if a little chilly. A very friendly lady came in the morning to collect the fees.
The views of the loch were stunning and we ended up with a really nice sunset. Ullapool itself was very quiet but has some nice restaurants.
Took the road to the Summer Isles which is a trip well worth doing.

Very nice site really close to the town, and right on the beach. The weather was cold and windy when we were there, and the mountains kept popping in and out of our vision!
Spectacular scenery though, and Ullapool has plenty of lively bars and restaurants to visit, as well as a fascinating small museum, invaluable to anyone trying to trace their local ancestry, but interesting enough for others too.
The ferry to Lewis leaves from here, and passes quite near the site. A small Tesco's is hidden (for once!) down a street near the campsite. There is a small play park on the site.
I'd like to go back, and we probably will, as it's only an easy 60 minute drive for us.

Stayed for 7 nights early June on this very nicely positioned and spacious site. Despite very heavy rain during two of the nights, the upper level of the site (where I camped) drained very well and easily.
The toilets and showers were kept clean and worked well. I fail to understand why people complain so much about the state of facilities when it is invariably site occupants who have abused them in the first place.
Agree with earlier reviewer about the Atlantic Rollers buffeting the site. At least 3 tents blown down or damaged during my stay.
Only real complaint was the grass had inexcusably not been collected during mowing resulting in grass getting everywhere in the tent. Personally I found the Attendant to be quite reasonable on the couple of occasions I spoke to him.
