Like many reviewers we found this site is very expensive and poor value and poor quality. Poor showers and extra cost and soft sites - we had to be towed off a site when bogged with our motorhome.
It's close to shops and it's convenient to the town for pubs and shops but there is another site a little out of town North that is better.
We had travelled from Kilmarnock and this was the worst site on the route.

Large, flat site with lots of room and wonderfully located on the edge of Loch Broom. Facilities were plentiful and reasonably clean but could do with an upgrade and some TLC considering the price of an overnight stay. We paid £15.00 for a medium tent, having paid only £11.00 at the other sites we stayed at.
Our tent blew down one day -as did a few others - but I reckon it was because we had not pegged the front down conscientiously that day, having been in and out a lot,and because of the hard stony ground we paid for it!Be warned. The site is exposed to strong winds at times and yes, this was the only site on this holiday where we needed our midge veils!
Ullapool is certainly a lovely little town and the gateway to many wonderful trips - so we'll be back.

This was the dearest site I have visited in Scotland. Expensive £23 a night. Also groups of teenagers drinking and music till 5am. Lots of motor bikes roaring till late. No warden to complain to after 8 pm. Toilets where a let down. Such a shame as it is in a lovely spot.

Our second visit to Broomfield after our initial visit last year. I actually reviewed it last year and stuck up for the place because I thought some reviews were a little harsh. I have to say that I was relatively new to camping then and how my eyes have been opened!
Broomfield is one of the handiest camp sites you can come across. Right next to the ferry (the reason we go as my kids live on Lewis) and right near the centre of Ullapool. And THAT is why they get away with what they do. This could be a fantastic site BUT relies on the convenience ticket far too much. It gives the bare minimum and is not that cheap compared to other better equipped sites. The toilets really do need an upgrade now and knowing whether you were going to get a hot or cold shower would be nice! Ignore the bug zapper adverts, we've been two years now and they are just not there. Having experienced many more and much better sites now, I have also written to the camp to tell them what I think. With not a lot of TLC this site could be brilliant. Alas at the moment it can only be described as barely adequate. But hey, where else do you go if you visit Ullapool?

Great campsite, reasonably priced, our 1st visit and loved it.
Toilet block good and clean and plenty of hot water. It cost 20p per shower and you got 6 minutes which was plenty of time.
The scenery was breathtaking, good range of shops, friendly pubs and places to eat. Try the local butcher's home made colslaw it's great.
Will certainly come back and stay again.

Stayed here 3 nights. Good location, could be a fantastic site, but alas not.
Trailing hook up leads across service road everywhere, pitch where you like even if it is close to the next unit.
Toilets and showers paid lip service in respect of cleaning and very dated. I can live with dated but I can't live with dirty. No one on site except to take your money at 9 a.M.Each day and to empty the bins. Basically a bit of a free for all, and not for me. With a bit of T.L.C. This place could be transformed into a wonderful site.
Ullapool and its pubs and restaurants are on the doorstep so a cracking location. We had no problems with noise and there was a bikers and a mini rally on site.
Give the Indian restaurant a miss if I were you, was pretty awful.

Well Jolly_camper's review says it all really. There is some noise from outside the camp but you can go furthest from the entrance where I'm sure you'd be undisturbed. Worth booking if you do want to go to a restaurant. Not many tables and they do finish early by London Standards. Not very good value as mentioned.
Don't miss the Tesco's tucked away above the campsite biut away from the Town Centre/Front. Good for stocking up with self catering needs.
The two WPC's in the Police 4x4 looked about 16 and neither over 7 stone when we saw them. Luckily we didn't see any behaviour that required anything else though!
I was last in Ullapool 25 years ago when the Klondykers, East European Factory ships, were in town. (Google Ullapool and Klondykers) It seemed a busier place then and the ferry is now the only large ship you're likely to see. A good stop off/stock up point if you're heading North to more remote sites
Toilets and showers OK and clean and plenty of hook ups but some do require trailing cable across the road.
Pebble beach and decent views.

Visited for one night on way to get ferry to Stornoway. It is situated well for easy walking access to the town. The site was quite busy with plenty of motorbikers camping which I believe it normally is but they were not a problem at all. In fact the site was remarkably quiet after 9 pm. The showers were free and not 20p as indicated in the review below so I am not sure if they have been changed. The toilets and showers were clean enough but I didn't use the basin so can't comment on that. The money was collected in the morning, I don't think the small reception office opens very often. We didn't have a problem with midges as it was windy enough to keep them away.
There was no problems with anti social behaviour apart from at the fish and chip restaurant by the harbour where a couple of locals were being irritating rather than troublesome. The fish and chips were good though. We have had a take away from the Indian restaurant by the site before which I can recommend.
I would stay here again but would prefer Ardmair Point campsite although it does require a drive to town.

Tried this site for an overnight on the way home from being up North, used Ardmair last year so thought we'd try this one out. Felt the units were very close together. Toilets etc OK but a bit of bleach down plug holes wouldn't go amiss. Wasn't a bad experience.

A great site, only yards from the town at the entrance, but beside the loch with open views out and across the loch to the Minch on the other side, fantastic. Once you are set up it does not feel as if it is so close to town. Flat grass pitches with plenty of open space.
Facilities all present and correct, although I was surprised to see some electric hookup cables running over the road. The fee was collected in the morning.
The town of Ullapool was bustling and welcoming, with a great variety of small shops and eateries, all your camping and outdoor gear readily available from a choice of shops.
I would be pleased to stay again when passing through.
