Literally just got back off holiday from Bagwell Farm. I stayed there from the 26th September to the 2nd October.
We were adviced this caravan site from the next caravan site up the road (East Fleet Caravan Park). As we have a commercial Van, we find it difficult getting into sites.
Its not because its A commercial van, its because the legal requirements to tow our extremely heavy caravan (Bessacarr), 3 adults, 5 dogs, awning plus the usual nick nacks. Bagwell farm invited us in and welcomed us with open arms!
We had a serviced grassed pitch on top of the hill, next to the dog walking field.
Not sure what the reception for TV is like in the valley but on the top, it was rear perfect reception! Radio reception was good too.
Walks on site for the dogs are brilliant. We found 2 walks. 1 was just an open field, which we used first thing & last thing for the hounds to have a pee but if you walk down through the site, you'll come to a stile which eventually leads to the fleet, where you can either walk East or West.
Moonfleet Manor leading to Weymouth on the left, walks to Abbotbury & beyond to the right. A wide range of bird life, from SkyLarks, Swans, variety of Gulls, Oystercatchers to Phesants & crows. A great walk to let the dogs off the lead. Also around the site there is doggy poo bags boxes, so if you run out of poo bags, there's no excuse not to clean up after yor dog/s!
The staff on site were really friendly, always saying morning or hello, and always busy. Either cleaning the loo's, driving the tractor and watering the flower displays. A good bit of team work.
The shop was ok, not too over priced as you expect. Had the essentuals. If you cant find what your looking for there's a BIG Morrisons not too far with cheaper fuels!
Never used the Grill Bar so cant comment.
Good Park for the kids!
The free Showers were lovely (nearer the shop) Yes you have to press the button every 20 seconds but the temperature was just right. There was 4 showers, 4 washroom cubicles, 4 toilets & 3 sinks in this toilet block. Might be a bit of a struggle in High season, but in low season, it was good. Very clean. And it has a free to use hairdryer which is a bonus.
The down side.
As we have 5 dogs £1 per dog per night was expensive.
Out & about. As we had the best weather, we didn't stay on site all the time. We avoided Weymouth, too commercial for us plus the last time we came, there was loads of roadworks for the Olympics, so totally avoided the area!
So we went towards the West of the site.
We visited Abbortsbury, we parked at the Swannery and walked to the old Abbey on top of the hill. A nice freebie! No parking charge!
We visited Burton Bradstock, beach is very nice, not sandy, a very fine shingle beach, dogs were allowed on the left hand side, parking was £1 an hour or £4 all day. We only stayed an hour. We then popped into West Bay, a nice place but very commercial and the parking charges were way too expensive! £2 an hour!
Over the week we also took 3 separate daytrips to the beach. Lyme Regis is only 40 minutes away, great for an ice cream, sunbathing, fishing and fossil hunting, dogs had a nice run on the left hand side of the beach but beware of the tides! they do come in quick and when its low tide, it can get muddy! Parking was great. £2. 50 for a whole day, walking down from the car park is great but walking back up the hill does get your legs!
The other beach we visited, we visited twice. I Highly recommend Charmouth if you have children! Try and get there when the tide has just started to go out. You will find loads of fossils of ammonites of different sizes, great way of keeping the kids busy & quiet and it teaches kids about Britains past, a great hands on experience with learning.
The dogs had a good run off lead here, they were soon knackered.
Overall a great Dog friendly Holiday

Have just returned home after a 5 day break here, the site was booked due to good reviews, however it wasn't quite as good as we had expected.
We were happy with our pitch, (on the edge of a field, with electric) so had plenty of room. - Lots of pitches were on quite a slope so it must have been a nightmare for tents!
Although we were shown on a map where we were pitched it wasn't easy to find, due to the number of fields/rows of units, and the fact the pitch numbers are set in the ground on stone, and the paint had worn away. A simple solution would be to put a marker board at the bottom of each field with the pitch numbers on it.
Toilets/Showers were clean but if you looked up in the showers there were loads of cobwebs (a long handle brush would have been able to get rid of them and give the place a better look). I didn't have any problem with the showers/or water pressure and there were plenty of hooks to use.
We had breakfast twice, but don't go if you're in a hurry! It's one thing to say food is cooked from scratch but it's another to stand waiting 5/10 minutes just to have your order taken and then wait 25 minutes to get it, even though it wasn't busy, (not good with young children).
The teas/coffees are made before the order is even taken to the kitchen. We also felt the member of staff was a bit sullen and seemed totally disinterested in what she was doing. The breakfast was good and we did enjoy it though. We didn't eat there in the evening because we thought the wait would be even longer.
If you want really good fish and chips go to Alf's fish and chip shop on the road to Weymouth. He is open 7 days a week and does so many things it's amazing. A word of caution though, don't order large chips unless you're planning to feed the 5 thousand! Portions are generous, to say the least.
We had an evening meal at the Marquis of Granby and thoroughly enjoyed it. The place doesn't look very interesting from outside but the food was brilliant at reasonable cost. Both these place are well worth a visit.
We were disappointed that the site didn't have any information about places to eat, other than pages that they had cut out from a magazine. They should be promoting local places as holiday makers do have money to spend.
We saw a lot of youngsters riding bikes and towing another youngster on a scooter behind them, going at considerable speeds which was quite dangerous. Staff should put a stop to this before a serious accident happens. The park was good and well used.
Not sure that we would go back, as it didn't suit us, but it depends what you're looking for.

We spent four nights at Bagwell Farm two weeks ago. We usually camp at forest sites but wanted to stay at a site near the sea. I did book a super pitch but was quite disappointed. There wasn't much space and looking out our window just saw caravans either side and behind, and the toilet block in front of us. Felt very enclosed. We asked to change the next day and picked a spot at the top of the site which was on three levels. The pitch had loads of room and had lovely views out to sea.
We used the older toilet block and showers which were always clean whatever time of day we used them. The showers were lovely and warm.
We used the shop a couple of times but went to Weymouth which was only a 10 minute drive to get our food. You could get the internet on the site. You paid £1 a day and it does say you only pay that amount because there is a poor internet connection. My husband didn't have any problems getting the internet.
We had a lovely steak in the Red Barn on our last night. Didn't think the price was too expensive as the steaks were from their own herd of cattle.
So after not getting off to a good start we had a lovely time. Good pitch, clean facilities, great walks from the site and a good location.
We will go back again.

Just spent 4 nights at Bagwell Farm and would definitely recommend it. It is a big site, but did not feel crowded. The toilet and shower facilities were clean and spacious, but when all showers were in use, the water pressure was weak.
Our plot was plenty big enough and not at all stony. Our two children (age 4 and 8) loved the play area and also enjoyed visiting the friendly goats and donkeys who live at the site.
We did not use the on site bar and grill, but prices seemed reasonable and they use local meat.
The shop was fine for basics, but only sold previously frozen sliced bread - it would be nice to be able to buy fresh bread in the morning for bacon sarnies!

We have just returned from a 14 day stay here I had 5 kids from 19 to 3 with me. It is a lovely site a fantastic playground for the kids couldn't keep them out also the pets area donkeys goats ducks and geese was well enjoyed by my 3 and 8 yr old. For the older ones the internet was well priced but was temperamental the price does reflect this at £5 for a week.
We were on the super pitches and it worked very well they are on the bottom level (the site does have terraces) you had your own water, drain, electric, and Ariel / Sat connection right next to where you needed them so no long hoses or leads needed.
The showers were in two blocks the new one by the entrance is lovely always clean and tidy hairdryer too. But the bathrooms are wonderful with younger kids £1 for ten mins hot water do take a cloth to clean after the previous user as just washing around with a shower isn't enough with a bath!
There is also the old block which is also fine very clean works well also has two bathrooms but does look dated compared to the new block we were next to the old block so I used this but the kids used the new one.
Laundry very good 2 machines £2 a wash £1 tumble or 20p very long cycle good value but could be very busy. Really nice staff well stocked shop. Have already booked for 2012.
My 19 yr old used the buses there is a service for the site stops by the shop in peak season also a bus that stops just down the road and a very frequent service in Chickerell No 8 which she used does entail a good 20 mins walk. Fantastic site best site we have stayed on

We chose this site based on the reviews on here. On arrival we were quite shocked as we were expecting something quite special! (It just proves that you can't go entirely on reviews!)
We weren't very impressed with our pitch and felt it was a bit cramped. There was little room next to units to park cars so they were all parked alongside of road (which we also had to do), this wasn't necessarily a problem but when walking down the road or with our children on their bikes it made it very difficult to get out of the way of moving vehicles.
Also, the super pitches really didn't look that 'Super'.
The toilets and showers were always clean apart from there being cobwebs everywhere! I'm fairly tall and there were spiders above every shower in the main older block. This really wouldn't take long to rectify but would make a big difference to my holiday experience.
The Park was good with lots of space and equipment (Although the swing frame didn't seem that sturdy).
We had breakfast one morning in the 'Red Barn', we felt that the prices were reasonable and the food we received was nice but the service was very very slow even though it wasn't busy. With young children in tow this was a nightmare and totally put us off returning on an evening.
There was very little information about other places to eat as they obviously wanted you to only eat on site which really wasn't very helpful.
We ate at Marquis of Granby DT4 9TW which was fantastic with very quick and friendly service
Also, Alf's Fish & Chips, Weymouth DT4 0FA - lovely fish and chips and you get 10% off if you say you are on holiday!
Both of these places are on the B3157 between the site and Weymouth.
We have a very short list of sites we will return to and unfortunately this site will not be added to to that list

We will not be returning to this site. I booked a super pitch and in my opinion it wasn't very super! Yes it had water/waste and hook up (and even a socket for satellite TV.
The main issues included the lack of space! The pitch was tiny (the car had to be parked partly on the road) We were also on the 'main' road onto the site which was mainly used as a race course for children on scooters at 10pm! The owners need to ensure that their site rules are adhered too.
Didn't use the bar/grill - our neighbour told us that it was £4. 00 for a pint of Guiness and the food was over priced. The internet was rubbish! We had to return 5 times for a ticket (we were eventually told that it was a problem on the site and on our last time we went to complain the lad behind the counter looked at me like a piece of dirt. The staff were generally friendly and the shop was very good.
The toilet block was excellent
Liked the area, but will not return

Very good site in a picturesque area of the Jurassic Coast. Outstanding facilities for dog owners - very important if like me you have more than one dog in tow! Very reasonable rates for dogs too.
Huge field for dog walks, complete with free poop scoops and adequate bins for disposal.
The site was exceptionally well tended - toilets and showers were spotless, whatever time of day or night you visited them, and plants were regularly watered and looked after.
Well stocked shop and friendly staff. There is a beach nearby, which makes for a very pleasant walk to get to it, with lots of wildlife to see on the way.
I would definitely visit this site again.

We visited Bagwell farm on the first week of the school summer holidays to find it busy but not full, we had booked via the internet and after paying a deposit had our confirmation by return, we did have to pay for pup tents and even the dog but found the total price to be very reasonable.
The site is located at crickerell which is a little way out of weymouth but is not a problem and has lovely views of the top of fleet lagoon. On arrival we were booked in by friendly staff and given our pitch number, the pitch was large with plenty of room.
There are three toilet and shower blocks, one brand new and spotlessly clean, the other two older but again very clean, the on-site shop is small but is very well stocked with everything from tent pegs to bottles of wine, prices are a little more than supermarkets however we didn't feel that we were being ripped off.
There is a good dog walk around the field above the site as well as access to the coastal walk, which is great for an evening walk. The Red barn at bagwell is a bar and grill we didn't use it as the prices here were, we felt, very expensive but were told by others that the food was good, there are goats and chickens at the rear of the Red barn for the kids to look at.
Noise levels around the site were on most nights reasonable but was always quite after 11. 00pm, there is a car boot on the top field on Saturday and Sunday mornings but did not disturb us on site.
Weymouth is a great family holiday town with a very safe beach, there is a busy fishing harbour which is great for crabbing, for the adults the harbour side restaurants are good especially vaughans which serves high quality local food.
Overall a very good site with a mixture of units (tents, caravans, motorhomes)
all the pitches are well looked after with flower beds and pots around the toilet blocks.
This was our first visit to Bagwell Farm but will not be our last.

Just spent 7 wonderful days at this site. As ever, the facilities were very clean. The people are friendly. We had a lovely roast dinner in the pub just outside the camp. A foot path from the camp goes to this. We also had a circular walk which took in the pub about a mile away. We have the same pitches every year, we can see quite a distance from our tent. The sunsets are lovely. The pitches are really big, you don't have to try to squash in at all. Other campers are really friendly too, some have been going here for years. We cant wait to go back again.
The Ghost and Smugglers tours are a must in Weymouth if you are visiting here. I can also recommend the KINGS ARMS in Weymouth for a meal.
