April 2005 We were pleased with this site. Our pitch was quietly located with good rural views. The toilet/shower blocks were dated but nevertheless clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. A short walk from the site brings you to good sea views. The utilities (motorhome service point/chemical waste etc ) were all easily accessible. Well located for a number of local attractions.

August 2004 Read about this site before going and yes it was everything and more. Our pitch was 245 and I would want to stay on this part should I visit again. We had a caravan and were really pleased we were not pitched on the tiers being our first time in it. Pitch size was brill and this field was pretty flat.
They seemed to be very well organised at this site and was friendly. Toilet facilities were very clean, showers were free, just right temperature and pressure (push button as often as required).
The shop catered for most needs and they even had a bus service into Weymouth and back, roughly 25 to 30 minutes. The kids park was sufficient for 4 to 9 year olds. I would recommend this site knowing what a fantastic time we had.

August 2004 stayed here for a week at the end of august, we were given a choice of either having a terraced pitch or going on the field in front of the bar/restaurant, we took the one in front of the bar cos it had a nice view overlooking Chesil beach.
When we looked at the terraced pitches we were glad cos if you're not very experienced at reversing a caravan then you may have had problems due to the lack of space.
Toilets were nice and clean and so were showers. The views and sunsets were fantastic, the pitches were a good size.
Shop was not too expensive, but we decided to use a shop in weymouth for most things.
One of the let downs for us was the size of the bar / restaurant, it was way too small for the amount of people on site and always seemed to be understaffed.
Overall this was a very good site and would definitely visit again and recommend it to anyone.

August 2004 Quite a nice site. The pitches are spacious though most are slightly sloping. Shop was very good but it didn't stock fresh meat for the evening barbie which was annoying. The Red Barn onsite "pub" is nice with decent food at fair prices - good for those rainy evenings! Toilets were fine, showers excellent and free but could possibly do with a few more. Great location for Weymouth where parking prices are not as horrendous as previously mentioned - maybe it's because I'm a Londoner! Would highly recommend Abbotsbury for a day out - behind the village carpark there's a lovely tearoom with pretty gardens, and just past it is the excellent Smuggler's Barn with lots of animals and things to do for the kids. Beyond that is the Swannery which is also very impressive. Another place we loved was the Sub-Tropical Gardens with its colonial-style restaurant - beautiful!

July 2004 A nice site with good clean shower blocks. The site is terraced so pitches are level. A bus runs from outside to Weymouth which is worth using as car parking is dear and hard to find. The site shop is adequate but Safeway is not far away. The site restaurant is good basic food. We did walk down to Chesil beach through the fields and the kids loved the farm tour and animals.

July 2004 This was our first camping experience as a family. We found this site to be spotlessly clean and extremly well maintained. The staff in the shop and the bar and restaurant were all very friendly and helpful. We visited this site in July and found it to be very quite. we were pitched in front of the bar, to which we were concerned as our children are very young. Our worries were soon over. we did not hear any noise whatsoever, from fellow campers visiting the bar or staff leaving at the end of the night. We did on one occasion have a wander around the site and found the bottom field very close to the cess pit, we think this may have been an overflow field for busy periods however we would not like to have been put there as it was rather smelly.
The only real downer was the extotionate car parking fees. £6.00 a day in Weymouth in the farthest car park from the beach. DO NOT park in the mulitstory car park as this is £6.00 for 6 hours and then a furthur £2.00 per hour for every hour after this. The campsite does operate a bus service, although we had too much beach gear and pushchairs either our little ones for this to be practical for us.
Beautiful site definately worth a visit.

Lovely clean site. Well spaced out pitches. Showers lovely and warm and although only 5 showers in main block, only had to queue for few minutes one morning. Staff very helpful - wanted to be positioned near playground and although at time of booking on Friday morning they had no pitches close to the playground, by the time we arrived on Friday evening they had located us near by. On day of departure, asked for late departure for which we paid £4 and had until 6pm to leave. (This gave us time to dry off the tent and gazebo before packing away and meant the kids got an extra day's holiday!). Would certainly return.

July 04 Had some crazy idea that due to us being a family of 5, staying in B&B or travel inn style accommodation was becoming far to expensive, so decided to buy a tent on-line and go camping!! Our visit to Bagwell Farm campsite was our first camping experience since our childhood days when wellies were placed outside the tent on sticks and you shared your sleeping bag with the bugs! Yes, the bugs were still apparent, yet tents and toilets facilities have come so far!
Was most impressed by the friendliness of the staff at this site, especially Mandy, who took our booking, gave us directions, and said "if we needed anything...." and meant it! She listened to our fears, especially having three children who would most definately need the loos in the night, she placed us in a pitch close to the facilities - and yes, we did need them!!
The Red Barn restaurant, again was welcoming, with a tv, and good food portions at ok prices. The pitches were spacious and we were lucky that the site wasn't at all crowded. Felt completely safe letting the kids play alone and nighttime wasn't too noisy. Cleaners were spotted regularly in the shower area and security did a patrol on the Sunday. For our first experience, we are confident we can do this camping lark again, certainly if we get a site like this one next time.

June 04 A good site with some unlevel pitches. I think our pitch may have had a quarry beneath it so we managed to bend most of our tent pegs! We have been back since on another pitch and did not have this problem. Nice showers and toilets, plenty of them so I don't think they would be too full in peak times. Really friendly staff and well stocked shop. Only down side is that there is not a pub within safe walking distance and the 'Red Barn' on site serves slightly 'canteen stlye' food at pub prices! Will definately be back to this site as there is good fishing from Abbotsbury and lots of good country pubs within a 5 minute drive. Our favorite was the 'Elm Tree' on the way to Abbotsbury.

July o3 Great campsite, which is only a short drive away to weymouth so it's very handy, clean toilet blocks, Family pub/restaraunt which do really nice food at a reasonable price. The site is dog friendly and has it's own dog walking field/toilet which is really great for the dog. There is a children's play area and small games room and pets corner which is good, the only downside is the shop which I find isn't that well stocked and certain things you need, you have to drive to Weymouth to get which should be available at the shop eg. Meat for Barbecue (which is very limited) Magazines etc, also the carparking prices is astronomical so it pays to leave the car behind and get the bus a lot cheaper!
