Having read the reviews for this site before we booked, we had high expectations - we were not disappointed. The whole experience was good - booking for 3 families on 3 adjacent pitches was straight forward even though I phoned 5 minutes before they closed we still carried on until 20 minutes after they ere meant to close!
The site itself -
Reception - very friendly & helpful
Shop - friendly & reasonably stocked - lots of camping essentials & basics for eating etc. There are numerous shops in the area so nothing more was needed.
Toilets & showers - generally very clean even after the rush, they were cleaned quite quickly afterwards. Never ran out of hot water. The new block was first class. One shower had a dodgy push button which you had to press every few seconds (only a minor glitch), but lots of space in the showers. Never had to queue for long even though the site was full. The older blocks are showing their age, but are always very clean. The middle block is slightly more up to date than the lower block.
Washing up facilities - plenty of them & lots of space - no queuing.
Water - lots of drinking water points.
Play area - not used - cannot comment.
Chemical disposal points - not used - cannot comment.
Weather - forgot to book that, but we had a bit of everything. The site never got waterlogged despite some heavy rain & it quickly dried out.
Donkey & goats - my daughter said hello to them every day.
Site restaurant / bar - we looked in once, but weren't over impressed with the pricing - we never ate or drank in it. It did look friendly enough though.
Surrounding area - it's a fair trek to go to the nearest sandy beach. Weymouth - is about 20 minutes away (inc. Traffic queues), but a pig to park in. There are some nice beaches in the area but most are stony unless you're prepared to drive.
There are loads of shops in Weymouth & Dorchester & several smaller one locally so no problems.
Pubs - we never used to one on site. The Victoria Inn (just down the hill from the site) looked a bit tatty from the outside & we weren't tempted inside. The Elm Tree is about a mile or so away & was excellent for both food & drinks.
Negative points - there is a campers shelter in the camping field - good idea if you need it BUT if you are near to it all you hear all day is the echo of kids playing in it & banging the door! It does get a bit wearing after a while. We were 2 pitches away from it - thank god we weren't next door to it!
Generally though a very good site & a very happy holiday. 9 out of 10

Have just returned from a week at Bagwell on the Rally field. This is one of the best Rally fields I have ever had the pleasure to stay on. The ground drained very very well despite the torrents of rain we had.
The main site had lots of facilities. A lovely brand spanking new clean facilities block. A shop that seemed to be open from very early in the morning and late into the evening. The shop was well stocked with groceries, papers, toys, sweets, a small selection of wine and beers and of course lots of camping / caravanning accessories. The older facilities block was also very clean and a pleasure to use. There was a very well priced launderette onsite. £2 per load and 20p for 8 mins in the tumbler. A whole large load cost me £2.80 to wash and dry. Lots of hand washing sinks too. There is also a small play area for the children.

We have just spent a week at this site, the second visit this year, in total I don't know how many visits we have had but we first visited before the kids arrived and the oldest is now 13.
This site is in a wonderful location with fantastic views across the fleet and out to see.
The new shower block is great even the sinks have individual cubicles.
The original toilet block is beginning to look a bit dated but is still more than adequate.
The pitches are large and even at the busiest time there seems to be space.
The shop is well equipped and also carries camping supplies.
This is a dog friendly site with a large exercise field.
On our last visit we visited the Fort in Weymouth, very good value for money and we were allowed to take the dog in with us.

This was our 4th visit to bagwell Farm as we love the area and having tried other sites we find this to be the best.
Each time I ring to book, I'm called by my first name and jokingly asked if I require my favourite pitch. And 99.9% guaranteed to get it! This year with friends and family we have commandeered 4 pitches and they have arranged all of us together even though they were booked seperately. That's service for you!
The staff are always polite and helpful, the toilets and showers are cleaned a couple of times daily ( shame some campers can't respect their own and others personal hygiene!) and all the pitches are kept well tended.
The shop is well stocked and, although not huge, it has all your basic needs. If you can't find what you want the staff will tell you where exactly to go to get it!
The site has it's own pub, The Red Barn, and does good hot food if you can't be bothered to either cook your own or go into Weymouth.
The childrens play area is great, all fenced off and large.
Although we go abroad too, we make sure we get our camping holiday to Bagwell Farm every year and shall continue each year if their standards remain as good as they are.
Highly recommended.

We found Bagwell Farm on this site and liked the sound of it. We phoned late (19.00 hrs) on the same day that we hoped to stay there and the booking couldn't have been easier.
Although the office was shut when we arrived, all the details we needed, including how to find our pitch, were waiting for us.
The shop staff were very friendly and helpful.
The (new) shower / toilet / bathroom etc block was wonderful.
The Red Barn restaurant was fine and handy and good value for money.
We would go again and would recommend it to anyone.
Our only negative comment would be that the pitch we were on was not very level. Even with the ramps on, there was still a slight slope, but as we only stayed there for 2 nights it was not a major issue. We did have the option of moving to one of the higher level pitches but decided to stay put.

My second review on Bagwell. Which at least means I liked it enough to come back. We were also on the UKCampsite.co.uk meet and a great time was had by all. The road noise I didn't even notice in the tent(the snow and ice slipping down the sides is a different story though). As said the rally field is great for kids and is nice and roomy.
The new shower block is great, it has ( in the gents ) 4 showers with the fold down seat type thing in a small separate section for changing in each cubicle. 2 open sinks and 2 private sinks it also has a dressing table type counter top arrangement with 3 large mirrors and 2 hair driers. It was also nice and warm and when it has been snowing outside that is brilliant.
Weymouth is a lovely area and a 15-20 drive into the town itself will find all the shops you need. There is also a basic camping shop on the road into Weymouth but instead of turning left at the new traffic lights in Chickerell ( they are trying to keep the Weymouth traffic away from houses ) keep going and it is on the left it looks like a old petrol station.
Really nice place to stay and will be going back again in August.

I have just spent a week at Bagwell Farm with a UKCS rally.
This is a lovely campsite with views down to the Fleet and Chesil beach. It's ideally situated for trips to Weymouth, Portland Bill and nearby picturesque towns and villages and is also a great place to just chill out and enjoy the scenery.
The well-maintained rally field was huge and there was plenty of space for everyone as well as a safe play area for the children. I guess that on still mornings you may be able to hear a little road noise if you are under canvas but it wasn't bothersome and the rest of the site is even further from the road.
The new toilet block opened while we were there and offers showers, toilets, private washing cubicles, a free hairdryer, a bathroom (£1 charge for this), disabled facilities and coming soon, I believe, disposal points. These facilities are some of the best I've seen and were kept spotlessly clean. The only slightly negative comment would be that one press of the button in the shower only delivered a few seconds of water.
The shop is not huge and so naturally can't offer a very wide range but it stocked a good general selection of essentials and had any item I needed over the course of the week. Weymouth has several large supermarkets so unless you are without transport it shouldn't be a problem. As a previous reviewer noted, you do need to order any newspapers but the staff, who were always very friendly and helpful, were more than happy to arrange this.
The Redbarn is not open until high season and so I cannot comment on this facility.
All in all, I was very impressed with this campsite and look forward to returning.

We spent a very soggy weekend at Bagwell at the end of Easter week.
The location is great, with footpath access to the Fleet and only a couple of miles out of Weymouth. If the weather had been better, we wouldn’t have had a shortage of things to do. However, I can recommend the Gurka restaurant in Weymouth.
The site had clean, if somewhat old, toilet and shower facilities. The furthest block had no hot water in the showers at all, but the main block was better. The new toilet block looks like it will be lovely when completed. Unfortunately for us, the building work was still going on and one of the roads was being dug up; I felt it was rather cheeky of the owners to charge mid-season prices, out of school holidays, in the circumstances.
The campsite shop is excellent and well stocked with food and camping supplies. The Red Barn was open in the evenings, but ice-cold and consequently empty. The menu is of the burger and nuggets type, so we didn’t try it.
We drew the short straw with our pitch. Hook ups were all around the field edges, but because we didn’t want electric but wanted to be near the rest of our party who did, we were pitched right in the middle of the grass, away from any of the limited hedge or tree shelter. Our tent took quite a battering from the wind as a result. If we’d pitched the sensible way round, given the wild weather, we’d have been faced right onto the roadway, along which a tractor trundled regularly from 8am until gone 11pm, even on Sunday. Given how empty the site was, we could easily have been tucked into a more sheltered quieter spot. It’s also worth noting that the lower lying tent pitches get very water-logged if it rains.

Bought a new caravan in December and were keen to get away in it so had the daft idea of doing so over new year. HOWEVER we were really glad we did.
Firstly staff were always friendly and helpful even to the stage of giving us advice as to where we could buy competing gas brand to the one they sold (doesnt always happen).
Cant comment on Red Barn as it was closed due to season but we knew this when booking.
I thought at £11 per night price was very reasonable.
Toilets and Showers were VERY clean however the main blocks were a little cold for a site that is open in the depths of winter, however new facilities are soon to open. Also they had heated family bathroom which you had to pay for but was worth it (50p or a £1 cant remember which)
Wind was blowing and a bit rainy (our fault for going at new year) but Im sure in the summer you would really appreciate the lovely views.
Had a grass pitch which I had to reverse caravan uphill onto which in wet wasnt best idea - so baring in mind somebody had already said they couldnt get onto it and was moved, probably shoudlnt have been given. HOWEVER I am the stupid male who couldnt give up (male pride) and go back to the shop and ask for another which they had offered if I had any problem.
Would use again RECOMMENDED

Fantastic site. We loved it.
We happened to have booked for a few days when the weather man was giving weather warning for severe gales and heavy rains but it didn't put us off, and we're glad it didn't as the whole experience was wonderful. The receptionist had taken the weather warnings into account in our allocation of a pitch and gave us one near to a hedge to lesson the impact of the winds. We made sure the pegs were hammered in and didn't let a bit of rain & wind put us off as we loved it.
Reception/shop staff very friendly and helpful (there were even weather warnings posted in the toilet block too - very caring staff. Shop ok price wise and stocked a good range of items and lots of tourist info.
Good that there is a bus into/out of Weymouth from the campsite. Close to Weymouth to do all the touristy things.
Pitch was clearly marked out and a good size. Toilet/washup/bathroom/laundry block only a few mins stroll away. Loved the fact that the washup was under a cover but 'outdoors' (ie no walls to it) Showers were adequate and clean (a new shower / toilet block is being constructed) Plenty of water points.
Good play area and the kids can get to see the animals.
Definitely will be back.
