Having checked out the reviews on here we visited Bagwell Farm for one night. It was very quiet on the site with a lot of seasonal/annual caravans on their pitches but only three or four motorhomes and a single tent. The lady on reception was very helpful and after we said we didn't really need a fully serviced pitch, just hook-up, she asked us to choose a pitch on one of the service roads as the grass was still too soft for vans. This wasn't a problem as there was so much room so we found a level spot with a view of the sea. The pitches are basically in a loop in a long terraced valley, with additional pitches, mostly for tents I would imagine, on the lower level.
The shop was well stocked for the time of year. Internet was reasonable but came with a rider that it may not work well - it didn't! The new toilet block was pronounced by the OH as the best ever! They were clean, new and with great showers. Brilliant! We paid £17. 50 for the pitch and one dog, which we thought reasonable. The dog walk field was large and safe.
The location was excellent, just off the main road but far enough away for noise not to be a problem. The walk down to the Fleet (the lagoon behind Chesil Beach) took about 20 minutes through farmland. Walks are plentiful and well signposted. We saw deer in one field in the late afternoon.
I can thoroughly recommend this site. True, it's not the most attractive in terms of landscaping but it is in a great position with wonderful views. A bonus is that Weymouth is only 4-5 miles away, though we didn't visit it.

My husband and I, along with our 2 dogs, have just spent a great week at Bagwell Farm. We were only supposed to be staying a couple of days, but the weather was so wonderful, we decided to stay.
The site is ideal for exploring Dorset, it's only a 10min drive to Weymouth, which has a dog friendly section of beach all year round. Lyme Regis is about a 35 min drive one way and in the other direction, you have Swanage and Poole, along with a plethora of quaint villages and coves.
There is a car boot sale every Saturday and Sunday at the entrance of the site, which also doubles as the biggest dog run we have seen so far.
There are 2 spotless toilet/shower blocks, chemical disposal points and a great laundry room, which also has a couple of baths. The shop/reception has a small selection of groceries, which is very handy as there isn't a local shop.
The only downside of our stay was a visit to the Red Barn, the pub/restaurant. The food was advertised as our own local beef, which sounded great, but we sadly found it to be very basic fayre. There is an array of beer pumps, but my husband was given a very cloudy pint from a box that he was asked to help serve. When he complained he couldn't see his had through it, the bar man said not to worry, it was always like that! Needless to say, we left the food and beer.
To finish, the girls in the office are very pleasant and helpful, as are the cheerful groundsmen. We had a really good week and would definitely return.

We have just come back from a two week stay at this lovely site. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The site itself is in a beautiful location in the countryside just outside Weymouth, with fab views of the sea - although the beach is not accessible from the site there is a coastal path which you can access easily. The pitches are a good size and the facilities are clean and well maintained. There is a pub/restaurant but we did not eat in it, although on the first night we bought a portion of chips to take out at £2. 75 we were not impressed at either the chips, the price or the portion size! There is a shop that sells the basics and also camping essentials which is good. You can purchase a voucher for wifi but my experience of it was that it hit and miss but it is only £5 a week so it's a chance you take. There is a playground but we don't have little kids so can't comment on it. There is a large field for the dogs it does say they have to be on a lead, most people ignored this and let their dogs off the lead, poo bags are provided which is a nice touch. We would go back, in short it is a lovely site in a fantastic location

We have just returned from another great trip to Bagwell Farm. We have stayed here many times and always enjoy it. The site is always well kept & clean, especially the toilets & showers. The team that look after them are amazing, and always friendly. We noted that some of the older hard standing pitches have been updated with much nicer small sized gravel/shingle, a real improvement. We we blessed with gorgeous weather too so all in all a fantastic couple of weeks. See you next year and thank you all.

This is a good site with good facilities. Situated in good countryside with nice views. Booking in was so simple, we were given a map with our pitches and important facilities marked and were able to go straight there.
There were a lot of caravans and motor homes on site but very few tents leaving room for the grandkids to play away from any potential annoyance to other campers.
Toilet and shower facilities were clean at all times and the hot water and pressure was good for me. The washing up area was outside but under cover, which kept the grandkids amused (apparently they never want to do the washing up at home but the novelty was good for them).
Campers seemed to respect the noise curfew well and on the Saturday evening there was a music festival in the village, so with that little bit of ambient noise came a slight relaxation till midnight.
The playground was ok for the kids (11 and 4) but as we were out a lot or bbqing at our tent, they made little use of it. The shop carried all of the essentials as well as a few souvenirs at reasonable prices.
Can't fault the site at all except for one thing. The site is quite isolated if you want to eat and have a couple of drinks outside you will be driving or taxiing. There is a pub/restaurant on site, but we could not make use of it as it was only open from 6-8pm on the Friday and Saturday we stayed. We ended cooking bbq both nights because of this. Given the lack of local hostelries it would be good if that was open for longer.
As said, a good site and a great first experience of camping for my grandchildren.

We stayed for a week in June and thoroughly enjoyed our break here.
This is a very nice site with views down to the sea, our pitch was a very good size and although it is on a farm there is no disruption whatsoever for the visitors. It is situated on the Jurassic Coastal Road so very convenient for exploring that area and is also not that far from Weymouth in the other direction.
There is a bar/restaurant on site which although not open all of the time it was nevertheless nice to stroll up for a drink or a meal when it was available. The showers/toilet block was lovely and clean and there was no shortage of facilities. The shop is excellent for convenience and we were grateful it stocked nice strong pegs as ours were too flimsy and it saved us having to travel to buy them.
This would have been a perfect getaway had it not been for the strong winds we had all week but we would love to return if we're ever in the Weymouth area again.

We just came back from this site and I cannot recommend it enough! Site is in great location, spacious, family orientated, spacious pitches, very clean and well maintained amenities. Staff were very friendly too. Shop at the site had all essentials at reasonable prices.
Our nearly 2 years old son especially ejoyed kids play area, couldn't have enough of it. We haven't visited the Red Barn for food but it smelled really good. Animals such as donkeys, goats, gooses, chickens behind the Red Barn - our son loved visiting them.
Site is in great location to get to places. Big supermarkets are only 10 min drive away. Weymouth, Lime Regis, Corfe Castle is within less than 30 min drive.
We will definitely be back there again, really enjoyed it!

Visited this site over Easter this year for about 10 days. Nice site bit far out of Weymouth but walks along the coastal path and along the Fleet. Reasonable small shop on site for basics, good children's play area, although was quite far away from where the caravans were. Amazing toilet (new) block + older block giving plenty of adequate facilities. First site I have been to that also has actual bathrooms as well as showers very good for families with small children.
Would return as good value for money and we like Weymouth and Dorset.

We stayed here for a week in August with our three year old grandson. Lovely site with a friendly welcome. A nice little shop on site selling all the basics. Shower/toilet facilities really good. Good location and a short drive to quite a few places along Chesil beach. We had a large pitch (large enough for our awning and car to be parked either side of the caravan) opposite the tent field. Our grandson had a wonderful time meeting children and playing on his bike and everyone watched out for the other children. We didn't try the Red Barn as we ate at the caravan nearly every day but it would be a welcome addition if we didn't feel like cooking. All in all we had a great week and would return again.

This was the first time I had been camping for a very long time. This site was excellent, the facilities (showers/toilets and bathrooms) were very clean and the staff were so helpful. The little shop was very well stocked and to my surprise very reasonably priced. Our pitch was in a great place with an electrical hook-up and water (optional), the site was quite busy but you really didn't feel hemmed in. It is very well located with access to loads of local places of interest. Chesil Beach is about 5 minutes drive and there is a coastal path from the site (not to Chesil beach. The Red Barn which is on site serves good food and and beer. Highly recommend this campsite!
