We visited the site at Easter. The Super pitch was totally 'Super' plenty of room and close to the park and new shower block. The shower block was clean and well designed. The launderette was adequate with decent results. The site was well maintained and tidy. There was an excellent field to exercise the dog in. The Red Barn would be great in Summer but too cold to be comfortable in the Winter. The food was adequate for the price. The staff at the Barn were very friendly and happy to assist with anything at all! even the TV channel! The food was a good price.
There were animals near the barn for the kids and a decent park for the younger kids to explore. The main problem for us was that there was no direct access to the beach, only to the RSPB lagoon area that had necessary restrictions but meant there was no beach for the kids to play on. The surrounding fields are great for walking but again had signs saying 'Dogs on leads' which were too restrictive if you kept to them all of the time.
There were some great pubs that were dog friendly. The Turks Head just down the road towards Chickerell allowed dogs and had some animals and a good play area for the kids. The Smugglers Inn at Osmington was fab, with good food and near to the beach.
We found up towards Lyme Regis was the best areas for fossil hunting. We went with a local man called Brandon Lennon. He has a website and was great to walk with. We came back with some great finds at Lyme Regis.
Overall the site had everything you need but a few too many restrictions for the dog and not near enough to a usable beach for the kids. We would probably look elsewhere but recommend this for wildlife enthusiasts and walkers alike!

I spent 4 nights here at a rally - I was on one of the upper levels on the right-hand side and my pitch (grass) had EHU + fresh water + grey water disposal. The weather had been very wet for the week before I arrived but the pitch was still usable.
The new toilet/shower block was close by and was excellent, with a large dishwashing room around the back - I never visited the other block. The reception was also a well-stocked shop.
I never visited the Red Barn restaurant/pub on-site - the opening hours this time of year were limited.
Mobile (O2), radio (FM) and TV (digital) reception weres OK; 3G ('3') was intermittent on my pitch and non-existent lower down; on-site wi-fi was available at a good price.
The location is excellent - you can see Chesil Beach from the site and it's about a 15 minute walk. From the coastal path you can head east to Weymouth and west to Abbotsbury.
Weymouth is about a 5 minute drive away - I only managed a brief stop at Radipole RSPB reserve on the way to the site. During my stay I also visited the Fleet Air Arm museum at Yeovilton (you'll need the best part of a day to cover this properly) and Lulworth Cove again.
Other than the pitch fees, which seemed quite high, I liked this site and will definitely use it again because there are so many other places I want to visit in the area.

We've just come back from our 'annual pilgrimage' to Bagwell Farm. We love this site, and have been using it since the early Nineties. As far as we are concerned, it's ideal, and I find it difficult to find any criticism(s). Facilities are first class, always clean and well kept, shop is good. Location good. The only slight 'moan' is on premier pitches, when putting up an awning, the ground is hard to get pegs in (yes we use the heavy gauge ones) but that's 9. 95% instead of 100%, and a 14ib sledgehammer does have it's uses!

Myself my husband and 2 children (6 and 3) have just returned from Bagwell farm, excellent campsite with a great park and very clean facilities, there are 2 blocks 1 much newer than the other but both very clean and well looked after.
The shop is open for long hours which is very helpful, although be aware that they swap your icepacks for frozen ones at a charge of 25pence per pack, but that is the only minor complaint.
Red barn on site food great very good value.
Location excellent for a number of places Abbotsbury children’s farm is really worth a visit.

Good site for families and couples alike. Lots of facilities for children. Lots of children usually means lots of noise but large site means you don't notice them.
Red Barn bar & restaurant on site offers good food but limited menu. Interesting local beers available, including one called 'Piddle'.
Well stocked shop opens long hours with helpful staff and holds local event and service leaflets.
Excellent and plentiful facilities but showers vary (and they are fixed temperature too - the dreaded button. )
Lots of good walking with signposted walks to and from site with spectacular Chesil Beach nearby. Go to Abbotsbury Swannery for a really good day out. Weymouth nearby with great beach and facilities.
Bus service goes to/from Weymouth in summer - use the service that comes to the site. Don't rely on or bother with the First Bus X53 service which passes nearby - it's frequently full (which means it just drives past you at the bus stop) and is rarely on time. Good local taxis cost about £10 to go to Weymouth centre and are very reliable.
Site busy during August (peak season) but never felt crowded (unlike continental sites) as the pitches are a good size. Tents are separated from caravan pitches. We had pitch 125, in a secluded corner away from facilities.
Good site - recommended.

Nice site toilet/showers clean but showers very poor in pressure at one point it was just a dribble down the wall which is not great with a head full of shampoo!
We ate in the clubhouse first night after a 6 hour trip to site, had the burgers which were nice then day leaving we had a breakfast which was quite poor for the money,
The goats did keep my son happy for hours finding fresh grass for them and so did the play park, just a shame we backed on to it to hear the odd screaming child playing on the swing basket for a few hours
But beside that little thing a very nice kept site

We had a short visit to this very good site. The staff were very helpful and the shop had all the basics. Toilet block was very good and clean. There was an on site bar and restaurant.
The bar closes quite early but the nearest pub is only a few minutes walk away on a footpath (take a torch!).
We had a cooked breakfast in the restaurant, which was reasonably priced although it was heavy on the grease! overall, a very good stay and we would definitely come back.

We arrived here for 8 days at the same time as the torrential rain that preceded the floods and land slips. Pegging out the awning was a challenge in horizontal rain and it was nearly dark at 5. 00pm the weather was so bad.
Thank goodness we were on hard standing and near the excellent new facilities block which was clean and warm with hot showers (But with the infernal push buttons). The older facilities block looks tired compared to the new.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Shop well stocked with essentials and the little things you forget or break. Didn't use the restaurant as the menu looked expensive.
The Childrens playground looked good but pretty much washed out for our stay.
We chose this site as we had not been to Dorset before and it was fairly central allowing us to explore the jurassic coast to the west and lulworth, Durdle Door, Corfe Castle, Swanage and Poole to the East. With the exception of Swanage the beaches were'nt the sand castle quality sand you find in Cornwall, but the weather cut beach days to 1.
The site highlight for us seeing a barn owl at dusk hunting over the dog walk field. Brown sea Island in Poole harbour is a good day out. If I was in this area again I would stay at this site, there is easy access from Weymouth and if you have a large unit this is the way to come.

Just arrived back from a fantastic holiday at Bagwell Farm.
The pitch was quite spacious for our Kalahari 10 berth. My only moan was that the pitch had a slight slope. There were other pitches that were level but at the time we arrived Dorset had only just dried up after quite a heavy rainfall and this was the best pitch at the time.
There are 2 shower blocks on this site and they were kept spotless. There was ample shower units in these shower blocks and we never had to queue for a shower. Although we had no children with us this time, there was a well kept children's play area.
There is a barn on site that serves breakfasts and evening meals. The breakfasts were to die for and really good value for money.
The site itself was very quiet and relaxing. I would return to this site if we visited Dorset again.

Had a great time the campsite is very clean and well looked after, all toilet, shower blocks are great warm and light and clean.
the campsite is very quiet and child friendly well equipped play park. The on site shop very well stocked with every day needs including camping and caravan bits. The on site bar/restaurant was ok a bit over priced for evening meals but breakfast was value for money.
there are plenty of pubs near by with great food.
Would certainly visit again.
the staff on site very helpful.
