We stayed at this campsite as family were staying near by. The facilities were excellent and the kids liked the animals and the play area.
Dog walking nearby was great down to the lagoon and the designated field was easy to get to in the dark with dogs.
The car boot sale was huge. Our only issue was the size of pitch and the closeness of other campers. It was all marked out in uniform rows to maximise space which made you feel hemmed in.
Good facilities but we wouldn't go again as we prefer small campsites.

The site was easy to find and access and is in a great location for access to Weymouth. It was well looked after and clean with excellent facilities. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and I would certainly recommend this site for anyone travelling in the Weymouth area.

Just returned from a week at Bagwell Farm. Facilities on site very good. Shop open long hours and stocked anything you may want from food/milk to camping basics.
Toilet blocks very clean - seemed to be cleaned 2 or 3 times a day. Queues for showers in morning, but could be avoided by showering middle of the day. Also I think the older facilities block might have been less busy with more showers (but further to walk from our pitch)
It is August so the site was busy and there was a bit of noise from fellow campers. We were very near The Red Barn but there was no noise from there. The takeway fish and chips was very nice, and welcome on our first night!
Our 8 year old and 5 year old liked the animals (goats, geese and donkeys). Playground was large but tended to be dominated by the older kids.
Weymouth beach very clean. Also visited Studland Bay beach (National Trust carpark £8 for day or free for members). The Blue Pool - tranquil woodland with some playground facilities. Dorchester dinosaur museum was expensive and very crowded on wet day. Cinema in Dorchester good value at £2.50 per seat during week - also good for wet weather!
Would return to the site - but it was a long drive from Suffolk and the roads around Dorchester /Weymouth were really busy.

Just off the B3157 between Langton Herring & Chickerell and next to the Historical Smugglers place Moonfleet lies this beautiful campsite that has standings for tents, caravans & touring RV’s. On arrival of the site it is clean, grass short & green and a children’s play area that is safe big enough for a few class rooms of children to play. Small but well equipped shop has nice welcoming staff & has recommendations & helpful advice of the surrounding areas for you to explore. The grounds house Caravans/RV’s on the upper level & Tents, Tourers & Caravans on the lower with loads of pitching space for tents that could take a 10 man tent with ease. The pitches are clearly marked & also with a site map its fool proof. Plenty of water taps around the site & with waste areas all over the place there was zero rubbish around on the floor. A total of 3 toilet/shower blocks including a newly built one near the shop area were all clean & always clean even in the busy hours as staff were on site making sure they were well equipped (toilet roll was actually nice to use!). Showers were supplied with hot water all the time in all the blocks and the new block even had baths (which didn’t use as showers were spot on). At times you did see staff going around with waste bags pick up any rubbish. Washing up areas were also plenty so no queuing and the middle blocks had a washing area for clothes, washing machines & dryers just in case you got caught in the wet. Chemical disposal point was in the middle of the block & you didn’t even notice it as it was always clean. With the weather being hit and miss over our stay the site was never bogged down, muddy or pooled up and dried up fast if surface water was showing. Electric hook-ups around areas of the site & a small BBQ area next to a Campers Shelter which can house up to 25-30 people if the weather got really bad, plus it was a place for children to play & eat in as there were tables & a wash area inside.
The site allowed to have dogs on as long they were on a short leash at all times, did notice a few not leashed but were well behaved & stayed with there owners.
The site restaurant/bar had a limited food line, a touch pricey but the food was really good & the steaks came from their own farm and tasted marvellous. Nice selection of drinks & a good local brewed ale called Piddle – good & tasty. Breakfast was good for the £3.50 price & included a big mug of tea, good way to start the day if you can’t be bothered to cook in the morning. Next to the pub was an area for donkeys, goats, geese etc and liked to come down to the fence for the children.
On Saturday and Sunday there is a car boot sale in the top field that was quiet busy.
Access to Moonfleet is on foot & about 1 ½ walk or a 2 mile drive.
Chesil Beach is a 10 minute drive up the road with a magnificent pebble ride beach that goes down to Portland. There are tons of walking routes that are accessed from either top or bottom of the site and then you realise how big the site is when you do a short walk.
Weymouth town is a 12-15 minute drive & can be a pain to get to the sea front or quayside at certain times (which later found some quicker back routes thanks to one of the staff)
In the past when I’ve been to camping sites I’ve never really slept right. Bagwell Farm was that friendly the site become quiet around 10pm & silent at 11pm and I had the best weeks sleep in a long time.
We booked this site due to a recon of the 2012 Olympics for Sailing & Windsurfing site in Weymouth/Portland and are glad that this site is our #1 choice for that (we are pre-booked for that now). I do highly recommend this place for a stay in Dorset and will be returning again soon.

As previous reviews have indicated this site is well laid out and does not seem as big as it actually is. The facilities were very clean even though the site was fairly busy. Yes there were a few queues in the new block but you could have easily got in the older block which although slightly dated was very clean. Staff were always friendly and helpful and the shop was well stocked. The other big advantage for us was that the site is away from Weymouth itself in a nice country environment but was only a short drive away which gave us the best of both worlds. Highly recommended for a relaxing stay.

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at Bagwell Farm (6 adults and 3 children). We all have differing ideas about the perfect site; we tend to use Carvan Club CL's. One family prefer big sites and the other family like a mix of both. Bagwell Farm was an ideal 'middle ground'. A large site but with a small feel. Friendly and helpful staff, very clean shower and toilet block, and a play area for our 6 year olds. They also loved the animals.
Pitches are of a good size, and ours was fairly flat. The layout of the site meant that we didn't feel like we were on a large site, there were trees and shrubs separating areas of the site off; it wasn't it until we walked down to the coastal path that we realised the true size of the site.
We didn't use the Red Barn in the evenings, however we did try out the breakfast which was lovely. There wasn't any significant noise from the bar in the evenings.
Great location for Weymouth etc. Would use this site again if heading down to Dorset.

We visited this site for the Easter weekend this year. This is a large site that has all the facilities that you could hope for. The shower block is new and clean but there was a demand in the morning which did mean some queues (the older shower block is just next door but people didn't seem to use this). There is a site shop which stocks the basics and a reception area with leaflets about local cycle hires, attractions etc. The site also has a cafe which serves breakfast and evening meals and the food was good. This is a perfect site for children and has lots of space, a playground as well as an area with goats, geese and donkeys who love attention! We would definitely use this site again it was a great place to use as a base for exploring Weymouth, Dorset and the surrounding areas.

Just come back from visiting this site. All previous reviewers have stated how good a site it is.
Staff very friendly and pitches well laid out.
Toilets excellent and look brand new.
You can walk to the coastal path that leads eventually after about 8 miles to Weymouth. The X53 (I think) runs every 2 hours from Weymouth and costs £2.10 to get back to Victoria Inn just before the site.
When we where there they were doing building work near to the toilets which was rather noisy during the day. We would have been grateful if they had told us of this before we pitched up.
Would go again though.

Just got back from a late season last minute break at this site. Have only good things to say about it.
We were travelling with a party of motorhomes and tents all who booked into Fleet Farm just down the road but which doesn't take caravans.
With some trepidation I contacted Bagwell farm by email (just a couple of days before arrival) explaining that I would like to be as close as poss to my friends on the next site. The very kind and helpful lady who replied explained that there was a public bridleway connecting the two sites. The night before we left, I emailed to confirm we would be coming.
Upon arrival we were directed to a pitch right next to the bridleway and were very pleased to discover that we could walk to the other site in about 6 mins (briskly). We were also right next to the goats / donkeys / geese etc which really pleased my 3 year old. (They weren't let out till about 7.30 so it wasn't noisy at night). We were also right next to the barn / pub which concerned me a little but the site was quiet and the pub closed about 9.30 (this may be different at high season)
The new toilet block was lovely and a joy to use. The chemical disposal point was inside in a room of its own all tiled (a first for me) and spotlessly clean.
The site staff were amazingly friendly and helpful.
The play area looked great but we didn't use it. We spent all our time at the neighbouring Fleet farm (which had a very similar layout and toilet block and is probably a 'sister site') Play areas there were great!
Dog walk was large and easily accessible but dogs had to be kept on leads even in the exercise area. I didn't use the exercise area but went out on the coastal path. Which is accessed from the bottom end of the site.
Site shop was well stocked and open pretty much all of the time (I actually drove my friends down from Fleet farm to buy icecreams when their shop was closed.)
I can't really comment on the other local facilities as we only dog walked and played with the children.
We did take a trip to Chesil Beach just 10 mins drive away (all pebbles) on Sun morning to be greeted by an awful lot of fishermen ranging all along the beach in both directions. We found a small space in between them (where someone had gone home) to let the dogs have a swim and the daughter a paddle (not really safe to swim in at high tide - not sure about low tide) but I was disgusted to find 2 fresh fish heads, a plastic bag which had obviously contained the fish, some fish chunks and a ball of line with spinners and 2 hooks just lying on the pebbles And they say dogs should be banned from beaches!
This last comment should not however reflect badly on the quality of the campsite or the friendliness of the staff. If it wasn't quite so far away, I would definitely go for another weekend and soon

We booked this site with some trepidation as there were a number of reviews that said sloping pitches etc.
We were very lucky and managed to get a great pitch though, with a gentle slope - some were more sloping, as you might expect in a valley.
Generally the site was great. The location was excellent and the shop was small but perfectly formed!
There are two main facilities blocks and we were nearer the 'new' blocks which were excellent. Free hot water and showers, little cubicles for washing, shaving etc. And two other washbasins. 4 loos in the block too, so no hanging about. They also have hairdryers in both the gents and ladies.
Also if you have young kids / toddlers, the bathroom is excellent. Cost is £1 for 15 minutes of piping hot water in a modern clean bath with hair washing attachment. Fantastic for our 2 1/2 year old.
Site also had a few lights dotted around and was pretty quiet at night, so no noisy neighbours etc.
All in all I would say this site for the location, the new facilities block and the lovely kids play area (complete with sand pit) would definitely pull us back and we'd visit again.
Also the red barn restaurant is, well, more of a cafe / diner than a restaurant and you need cash, no cards BUT I had a lovely steak there, with loads of chips, mushrooms, peas etc. It was a real treat for camping and highly recommended. Bit pricey though. £46 for two adults and 2 (fair size) kids meals, couple of drinks. OK, not expensive by restaurant standards but I'd have been happier paying £35 than £50 with tip. But, as I say, the food was really nicely cooked, prepared and clearly fresh - lovely.
Kids loved seeing the Donkeys and Goats too and was chuffed to find you can e-mail the donkey (Maisie) before your visit and she mails you back - a nice little touch to get young kids involved. :-)
Well worth a visit if you have a week as there is so much to do around the area in Dorset.
Highly recommended.
