This is the third year that we've been visiting The Old Station, the previous two with the tent, and its been an ideal place to set off for sight seeing trips in the car. But this year we have a campervan and not wanting to keep moving the van when the ground was so wet, we spent our time in Masham, which is only a short walk. Or there is a bus service that stops at the entrance. Masham has four pubs, two brewerys which both do tours, a vets, a pharmacy, a chipshop, a market on Saturday, a glass works, gallerys tearooms as well as lots of lovely walks. As for the site, the facilities are really good, the shower and toilet block are kept immaculate, there are recycling facilities, The staff are friendly and helpful, They sell supplies, there is a cafe serving breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea, at reasonable prices. We really reccomend this site.

We were part of a group that decided to visit this site for the Easter break. We consisted of a motor home two caravans with awnings and a tent. We were all allowed to take up an area together without any problems. We arrived in a howling gale and freezing conditions but we were made most welcome and directed to the area.
The facilities were very good. The toilet and shower block considering the weather were warm and very clean with plenty of hot water. The site is only a fifteen minute walk from Masham and if you like real ales - like us ! It is fantastic. There are two breweries which both have tours and visiting centres where you can sample the beers.
We found the Bay Horse pub very friendly and dog friendly! The beer and food were exceptional and very good value. There is also a bus service which travels regularly past the camp site into the village but we preferred to walk. Considering the weather conditions, howling gales freezing temperatures and 6cm of snow we had a fantastic time.
We had a full english breakfast every day at the camp site cafe which was very tasty and good value. On the Saturday evening ten of us sat down for a meal which you need to book. The standard of food would not be out of place in a good restaurant. You are encouraged to take your own alcohol and there is no charge for corkage! The staff were very helpful and friendly all weekend.
We recommend this site and we will definitely return.

What a lovely site! It is very compact, and whilst the pitches are a little on the small side for a 'van, awning and car it was almost empty this weekend, and there was plenty of room for our party of 6 adults in 3 caravans.
The grass pitches are flat and easy to access, and the toilet/shower block was spotlessly clean.
We had pre-booked a tour at the Black Sheep Brewery and the 10 minute walk from the site into Masham was no problem. We had time to visit 3 of the town's pubs to sample Black Sheep and Theakston's before our tour. We had also pre-booked a meal in the Brewery restaurant which we can thoroughly recommend.
After a day looking around the area on the Saturday, we had planned to walk into Masham again in the evening, but after a few glasses of wine we could not be bothered and then noticed that the cafe was still open with a good few diners. We asked if we were too late for a meal, but the very friendly staff said 'no problem - but would you mind giving us about 20 minutes to serve the meals to those already seated'. This was an excuse for a bit more wine in the caravan and we were told that they had no licence but that we were welcome to bring our own wine.
We had a wonderful meal which would not have disgraced a top class restaurant, and eventually left very late - the staff were fantastic and did not rush us even though they had been serving for most of the day ( we had started our day there with a full english breakfast which was also to be recommended).
All in all a great little site, which is still being developed. We WILL be back!

Great site, very clean and tidy. Ideal base for visiting the 2 breweries. Nice amenities and cafe on site. Let down by the weather but what do we expect for October in a tent. Definite recommend if you have not been to Masham or surrounding area.
Excellent base for walkers and ramblers.

Stayed here over Bank Holiday weekend in the overflow field. As first time campers, with a brand new tent we were really chuffed when the people on the next pitch helped us set up as we quite obviously didn't have a clue and took about 2 hours to pitch!
The actual site itself is very clean with a shop & cafe (lovely bacon, egg & mushroom sandwiches!). The shop doesn't stock a massive amount, but had milk, which was all we needed.
The shower block remained clean all weekend despite the site and overflow being full to bursting point and no noise particularly after dark.
10-15 min walk into Masham with some cracking Black Sheep at the White Bear (very dog friendly pub).
Will go back again sometime.

Have been to this site twice now, and it doesn't disappoint. Have 2 children aged 11 and 9, but the fact this site doesn't have a play area, or indeed anything for the kids to do, doesn't detract from the site at all. The kids found their own fun, and it also helped to allow the site to quiten down naturally on a night, rather than having the owners having to enforce any "noise abatement" rules. The shower/ toilet block is exceptionally clean, and has regular visits by the cleaners throughout the day. Masham village is a 10- 15 minute stroll, and within easy distance are the many attractions of the yorkshire dales, including lightwater valley and aysgarth waterfalls. The site has its own shop with a cafe also serving food (check times for serving, didn't appear to open too often whilst we were there). All in all a very peaceful, well laid out site

Stayed at the site for 2 nights. We found it very friendly, (my husband and I and our teenage daughter). Short walk into the village to a choice of 3 very nice pubs, and one being a hotel where they sell very nice food. Also our first visit any where since the smoking ban, and found ALL the pubs catered for the smokers providing a HEATED area for the smokers, under the cover of gazebos. Certainly didn't make us feel like outcasts. We had a very exiting walk back to the site in the dark! and lots of laughs. The little town of Masham is very quaint, and lots of walks around the area, (and they are walks not hikes) for those of you who like to have a stroll. Will most certainly be going back again. The site its self is very clean and facilities are acceptable for the number of pitches, and friendly owners who will accommodate any special requests you have.

We have just returned from our first ever family camping trip. Old Station was recommended by friends who stayed at the site last Bank Holiday weekend. As newby campers we were a little uncertain what to expect. We have had a great time. Our two year old son was in his element, running through the field behind the camp area. Lovely, quiet location. Toilet and shower block on main site was really clean and well decorated. Shower water nice and hot if you were early. Great utility kitchen/washing up facilities, with dryers available on main site. The town of Masham is only a short 10 minute stroll away with pubs, shops, fish and chip shop, park, riverside walks, playing field. Busy bank holiday weekend meant that the actual site and the overflow field were full. The toilet block on the overflow site was very basic and although the toilets themselves were clean the actual block was in need of a clean and a lick of paint. Plenty of bins provided on the overflow site, but the bins were overflowing as well. People were leaving the bags of rubbish by the side of the bins. Plenty to do and see only a short drive away. Had a lovely morning out in Ripon, a stroll by the Cathedral and along the river side - with the obligiroty pint in the pub along the way, lots of little shops and boutiques. All in all a great weekend - would definitely recommend the site, and would no doubt revisit ourselves.

I was a bit nervous as it was our first time out in the van, I had no need to worry, the guy that booked us in showed me what to do with the hook ups etc. Really clean and tidy site, the toilet and showers were spotless, will return for sure. Masham is about a mile away by foot but there is a bridle path that cuts off about a third of it.

Stayed here for one night with a large group of friends, as said before the pitches are a bit on the small side. It's a very lovely, quiet site only 5 minutes walk from all the facilities of Masham and a few minutes drive from the Yorkshire Dales National Park. A smallish site meaning you never far away from the toilets/showers. The toilets were immaculate and clean with the showers being free. Never got to try the on-site cafe but it looked very nice. Very good value for money, for my dog and I(dogs are free) it cost £5.50 in High Season. Definitely will be returning here in the future.
