What a find. Nice flat ground, lovely setting and cheap too. Toilets are the business, as already reported but well worth another mention. The owners cannot do enough for you. As for Masham, it's about a mile,or 20 mins away, and for me this was like heaven on earth ---TWO BREWERIES! The Black Sheep brewery and Theakston, creators of the worlds finest ale- Old Peculiar. Add to this 5 more pubs and you have what a lot of real campers prefer to scaling mountains at unearthly times of the morning when some of us are trying to sleep. We will return here in future when we want another good weekend.

What a fantastic little site! Very friendly, very quiet - only 2 caravans & 1 other tent during the 4 days we were there. Tent area is sheltered, which considering the gales that blew was definitely a bonus. As everyone has mentioned, the toilet block is heated and spotless, with ample supply of free hot water, and girls, free hairdryer! No more holidays with a permanent windswept look! The owners are getting on well with the new reception and cafe/shop on the site which I'm sure will go down a treat. The walk into the village is on pavements which is safer for small children (and merry adults!). Beavers sausage shop is definitely to be recommended for the amazing array of what they can make sausages from - wild boar, venison, oh and pork for the unadventurous. White Bear does good selection of food, terrific desserts, and of course, lush beer, with real open fire. Will definitely be back so can enjoy brewery tours and sample some more pubs, the music festival and beer festival in June and of course, enjoy another stay in this peaceful camp site.

We stopped at this site for 2 nights, its a nice little site if you want somewhere peaceful. The family who run it are very helpful and friendly, most places ive been to just take your money and leave you to get on with it. these people want to help you.
The prices are very good, i don't know how they make a profit. It cost me £20.00 per night for a large tent, with electric hook up, 2 cars, 3 adults, 3 children, and the dog. where can you beat that. They are still working on the site to improve it further. You can walk in to Masham, drive to many market towns such as Thirsk, richmond, middleham, layburn, ripon, bedale. all nice little towns within 15 miles from site.
As other people have said the toilet and shower block is very clean, with free hot water.

We stayed for 2 nights here after booking last minute. The family that own the site are very friendly and accommodating. The toilet & shower block is indeed one of the best we've come across, as it gets some 4-6 cleans per day! The site is very well laid out, with plenty of electrified pitches and good drainage. There are also night-lights, which are a great idea (especially useful for those late night returns from the local Breweries).
Very highly recommended. We will be returning (especially given that they intend to extend the facilities further)

July 2005 Lovely! Small tent field behind the main caravan / EHU area, very private though.. Spotless toilet block, free showers etc.. 15 mins into Masham nice place, nice pubs, lovely market on a Saturday, easy distance to many local attractions for all ages. Will definitely be returning!

August 2005 After 26 years of camping this is probably the cleanest Loo's / Showers that we have been to. No shop but Masham is quite close. Very friendly people running it. Very nice local countryside Smashing sunsets seen from the site Don't want to say too much more as wouldn't want the prices to go up and spoil the attraction

August 2005 Stayed here for one night on the 12th August. It was fantastic, extremely clean, plenty of toilets, showers etc, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The site wasn't far from the town and the all important blacksheep brewery so was maybe a 10-15min walk.
The drainage around the tent pitches is fantastic so even when it rained the ground stayed firm.
Cant wait to go back!

July 2005 We stayed here for 3 nights - our first camping trip. Really liked the site, very quiet. As others have the said the shower/toilet block are kept spotlessly clean. Easy walk into Masham. Excellent food in the White Bear. Also visited the Black Sheep brewery and did a brewery tour. There's a great selection of sausages in the Masham Sausage shop - but get there early as they sometimes sell out in the afternoon !

June 2005 This is a fine camp site, situated about a mile from the historic town of Masham (pronounced mass-am)in North Yorkshire, which is home to the Black Sheep and Theakstons breweries.
On arrival we were warmly greeted and shown to the camping area and allowed to choose our own pitch. Toilets and the shower blocks were pointed out and they even remembered we'd asked for a stand for a disposable BBQ, which was brought up to us within minutes of arriving. We were invited to pop down to the office to pay "when we were ready". A very good start.
The camping pitches are at the far end of the site and are sheltered on 3 sides by raised bankings and mature trees. A lovely suntrap in the afternoon, yet nicely shaded from the early morning sun.
The toilets / shower blocks are worthy of a mention - I have stopped in hotels which do not have facilities which are as bright, modern and kept as scrupulously clean as these. They are also heated (not an issue during our stay) and showers are free, with a seemingly endless supply of piping hot water. There is also a small kitchen area which is kept just as clean. They also have recycling facilities, which is nice to see.
The only fly in the ointment was a party of around 20+ people celebrating a birthday who returned from the pub at 12.30am and carried on partying until 3am which kept everyone awake. Not strictly speaking the fault of the camp site owners, but something that took the gloss of what was anotherise excellent stay, and something the sit owners need to keep a grip on.
Would we return? Well, yes we would, despite the late night antics - but we'd definitely check if they had a party booked in first!

May 2005 Nice quiet site-only been open a year- shower block excellent, free hot showers hairdryer provided. Not much on site but safe for kids to enjoy. About 10 mins stroll into Masham. Owners very helpful. Electric hook ups available. 3 nights in tent with electric for £30:-good value. Handy for Lightwater Valley and Richmond and Brymor Ice Cream Farm - well worth a visit.
